August - Divers 2018
Fireworks will light up the sky of the capital city for five nights on the Fridays of 27 July, and 3, 10, 17 and 24 August. The Laeken Firework will be held on the Heysel Plateau at the foot of the Palais 5.
Last summer, the City of Brussels launched five new convivial events on the Heysel Plateau: Laeken Firework Spectacular.
On Friday 27 July, plus 3, 10 , 17 and 24 August, a small village will be installed around the Atomium (Place de Belgique 1 - 1020 Brussels). Various activities will be organized, giving Laeken families, the people of Brussels and tourists the opportunity to take part, be entertained and enjoy delicious food and drinks from the many food trucks.
27/07: The circus, with 'ATOM'CIRCUS';
03/08: a creative 'DO IT YOURSELF' workshop village;
10/08: a 'JUNGLE FUN' adventure circuit with entertaining contests;
17/08: 'URBAN COLORS' for a colourful 'street art' atmosphere;
24/08: a musical journey from the 1940s to the present era: 'BACK IN TIME'.
Dance and street performances, workshops, demonstrations, games, introductory sessions... Both young and old will find plenty to their liking! And every night at 11 pm, a talented pyrotechnician will stage a dazzling firework display from the foot of Palais 5.
These five events will add even more luster to the summer programme already in place at the Heysel Plateau: Mini Europe, Oceade..., as well as tours of the Atomium, the celebrations and exhibitions organized to mark the monument's sixtieth birthday.
Diversity, warmth and interaction, our capital's biggest strengths, will be the main ingredients for Laeken Firework Spectacular. Once more this year, summer in Brussels will start with a bang!

This was taken during Ied el' Fitr festival in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra. This all night long party and fireworks made me awake until 3:00 AM as the hotel is only 50m from the site. It's fun though :)

Les Feux de Laeken 2019
Lors de cinq vendredis consecutifs, du 26 juillet au 23 aout, a la tombee de la nuit, le ciel de la capitale s'illuminera de feux d'artifice exceptionnels tires du pied du Palais 5 de Brussels Expo, en face de l'Atomium et a cote de Mini-Europe.
Des 18h00, les familles laekenoises, les Bruxellois.es ainsi que les touristes de passage pourront participer a de nombreuses activites ludiques et assister a diverses animations tout en degustant une boisson ou une gourmandise proposee par divers foodtrucks. Danses, workshops, demonstrations, jeux, initiations... il y aura de quoi ravir tout le monde !

Pour les plus petits (2 a 5 ans), chateaux de sable, piscine a boules multicolores, peche aux canards et atelier de mandalas de sable colores. Les plus jeunes (5 a 10 ans) s'essayeront au ' waterball ' ou tenteront de faire basculer leur copain dans l'eau avec l' ' Aquafun ', une animation qui demande adresse, precision et qui garantit de gros fous rires ! C'est dans un chateau gonflable qu'ils depenseront l'energie qui leur restera. Les ' teens ' (10 a 15 ans) s'elanceront sur un ' Ventrigliss ' geant de 20 metres de long pour realiser les glissades les plus droles de leur vie. Et puis, tout le monde assistera au show lumineux d'Eklabul, et Monsieur Bulles fera virevolter ses bulles de savon magiques. Des vestiaires seront mis a disposition pour tous les courageux de la soiree. A 23h00, les lumieres du feu d'artifice tire par AquaReve illuminera le ciel au-dessus de l'Atomium. Une dizaine de foodtrucks gourmands proposeront des mets sucres et sales pour tous les gouts.

Yesterday was a celebration on a national level in France, and so we had jet fighters over Paris, and tanks, and lots of infantry on Champs-Élysées (cosplayers lol :D), and the President walking around looking at his troops, and Johnny Hallyday singing for us on Champs de Mars. Johnny had a stage right underneath the Eiffel Tower and I hope he's proud of it!
The main dish, however, was served around 22:30. It is what you see on the picture above :) Probably because of the Eiffel Tower turning 120 this year the fireworks were simply spectacular! MUCH better than those last year!! Not even comparable! I also liked the 3D lighting transformations they applied to the tower to make it skew and turn and jump and dance to the beat! Standing in that immense crowd for 3+ hours was definitely worth it!
Tech stuff is something like: 4 sec., f/16+, -0,7 exposure compensation and a tripod! I also turned on image stabilization because the music basses were creating vibrations. Dunno if it helped, but the outcome looks quite good to me.

One of the most amazing and spectacular light, laser, water, fireworks and music shows I have ever seen!
Disney Illuminations
Disney Illuminations is a nighttime spectacular at Disneyland Park in Disneyland Paris. It opened to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the park and is based on Ignite the Dream at Shanghai Disneyland Park. The show features projection mapping onto the park's castle, fireworks, water fountains, fire, music, lasers, searchlights, mist screens and other special effects. The music played the theme song in Opening And Finale scene is "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes", performed by Heather Headley.
The show starts with a voice-over, inviting all guests to release their inner child and dream:
Within each of us is a dreamer, just waiting to be awakened.
We all have the magic to unlock this inner child.
But sometimes, that inner child needs an invitation to come out and play.
This is your invitation... to dream.
The show is known to use a large amount of audio-visual, lighting, pyrotechnic and hydrotechnic technology mostly installed for the preceding Disney Dreams! show. The castle is covered with projectors covering a much wider than the previous Disney Dreams! The hill around the castle is also included in the fields of projection.

Feux d'artifice du 21 juillet 2016 - Grand Parc d'Enghien
Un feu d'artifice est un procédé pyrotechnique utilisant des explosifs déflagrants visant à produire du son, de la lumière et de la fumée à l'aide de composés chimiques pour produire différents effets et couleurs. Les feux d'artifices sont originaires de Chine où ils ont été développés à partir de la poudre noire avant d'être importés en Europe, où divers alchimistes et pyrotechniciens ont participé à leur développement. Ils sont souvent utilisés dans des spectacles pyrotechniques (fêtes nationales, jour de l'an, événements, etc.).
