YOUR GAY FRIEND
Robbie Williams
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Woohoo!
Hey hey here comes no-one
Another friend to have a go on
And she asks me do I miss her when shes gone
And I reply as much as I miss anyone
Oh! Woohoo
And I'll be your gay friend
'Cause your marriage never ends
Till we fuck and fight again
Theres a space between us
So jump into my bed
Pretend the world is dead
And always in my head
Is a face between us
Hey lord forgive us if we're wrong
Make sure that he never hears this song
And she says that I'm the opposite of a hallmark card
She asks me how I'm feeling well
I don't want to think that hard
Oh! Woohoo!
And I'll be your gay friend
'Cause your marriage never ends
Till we fuck and fight again
Theres a space between us
Jump into my bed
Pretend the world is dead
And always in my head
Is a face between us
It's the late show now
How does the late show end?
Well if God is in, the details
Thank God that you're my friend
I have a friend again
You're my friend again
My gay friend
Oh! Woohoo! Erhh
So jump into my bed
Pretend the world is dead
And always in my head
Is a face between us
And I'll be your gay friend
As your marriage never ends
Till we fuck and fight again
There's a space between us
Oh! Woohoo!

To the long and winding road
You left me standing here

Hooked to Dylan classics
"Early one morning the sun was shining
I was laying in bed
Wondering if she'd changed at all
If her hair was still red
Her folks they said our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough
They never did like mama's homemade dress
Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough
And I was standing on the side of the road
Rain falling on my shoes
Heading out for the East Coast
Lord knows I've paid some dues
Getting through
Tangled up in blue.
She was married when we first met
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam I guess
But I used a little too much force
We drove that car as far as we could
Abandoned it out West
Split up on a dark sad night
Both agreeing it was best
She turned around to look at me
As I was walking away
I heard her say over my shoulder
"We'll meet again someday
on the avenue"
Tangled up in blue.
I had a job in the great north woods
Working as a cook for a spell
But I never did like it all that much
And one day the ax just fell
So I drifted down to New Orleans
so I lucky was to be employed
Working for a while on a fishing boat
Right outside of Delacroix
But all the while I was alone
The past was close behind
I seen a lot of women
But she never escaped my mind
And I just grew
Tangled up in blue.
She was working in a topless place
And I stopped in for a beer
I just kept looking at the side of her face
In the spotlight so clear
And later on when the crowd thinned out
I was just about to do the same
She was standing there in back of my chair
Said to me, "Don't I know your name?"
I muttered something underneath my breath
She studied the lines on my face
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces
Of my shoe
Tangled up in blue.
She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe
"I thought you'd never say hello," she said,
"You look like the silent type."
Then she opened up a book of poems
And handed it to me
Written by an Italian poet
From the thirteenth century
And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burning coal
Pouring off of every page
Like it was written in my soul
From me to you
Tangled up in blue
I lived with them on Montague street
In a basement down the stairs
There was music in the cafés at night
And revolution in the air
Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of him died
She had to sell everything she owned
And froze up inside
And when it finally the bottom fell out
I became withdrawn
The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keeping on
Like a bird that flew
Tangled up in blue.
So now I'm going back again
I got to get to her somehow
All the people we used to know
They're an illusion to me now
Some are mathematicians
Some are carpenter's wives
Don't know how it all got started
I don't know what they do with their lives
But me I'm still on the road
A-heading for another joint
We always did feel the same
We just saw it from a different point
Of view
Tangled up in blue..."

You will always be holding
Holding my heart in your hand
I will understand,
I will understand someday, one day
You will understand, always
Always from now until then
When it will be right? I don't know
What it will be like? I don't know
We live in hope of deliverance from the darkness that surrounds us
Hope of deliverance, hope of deliverance
Hope of deliverance from the darkness that surrounds us

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey there,
How are 'ya?
it's been a long time
it seems like we've come a long way
My, but we learn so slow
and heroes, they come
and they go
and leave us behind as if
we're s'pposed to know(why)
Oh tell me(why)
Why do we give up our hearts to the past?
and why must we grow up so fast?
And all you wishing well fools
with your fortunes
someone should send you a rose
with love from a friend,
it's nice to hear from you
again
And the storybook comes to a close
Gone are the ribbons and bows
Things to remember places to go

Little Jeannie
Music & lyrics by Elton John & Gary Osborne 1980
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh little Jeannie, you got so much love, little Jeannie
And you take it where it strikes and give it to the likes of me
Oh little Jeannie, she got so much love, little Jeannie
So I see you when I can, you make me all a man can be
And I want you to be my acrobat, I want you to be my lover
Oh there were others who would treat you cruel
And oh little Jeannie, you were always someone's fool
Little Jeannie, you got so much time, little Jeannie
Though you've grown beyond your years, you still retain the fears of youth
Oh little Jeannie, you got so much time, little Jeannie
But you're burning it up so fast, searching for some lasting truth
And I want you to be my acrobat, I want you to be my lover
Oh there were others who would treat you cruel
But oh Jeannie, I will always be your fool
And I want you to be my acrobat, I want you to be my lover
Oh there were others, and I've known quite a few
But oh oh Jeannie, I'm still in love with you
Stepped into my life from a bad dream
Making the life that I had seem suddenly shiny and new
Oh Jeannie I'm so in love with you
Stepped into my life from a bad dream

"I'm growing tired of this big city lights
Tired of the glamour and tired of the sights
In all my dreams I'm roaming once more
Back to my home on the old river shore
I am sad and weary far away from home
Miss the Mississippi and you
Days are dark and dreary everywhere I roam
Miss the Mississippi and you
Roaming the wide world over
Always alone and blue, so blue
Nothing seems to cheer me
Under heaven's dome
Miss the Mississippi and you
Memories are bringing
Happy days of your
Miss the Mississippi and you
Mockingbirds are singing
'Round the cabin door
Miss the Mississippi and you
Roaming the wide world over
Always alone and blue, so blue
Longing for my homeland

Mandalay Again
Music & lyrics by Elton John, Leon Russell & Bernie Taupin 2010
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rules and regulations
And real estate are things I've left behind
Flights are always leaving
Silver wings unfolding on a dime
But I won't forget to tell you
If I could reconnect the line
I never really knew you
But come back I'd like to find the time
Drugs and consequences
And ferris wheels just took us up and down
Fights were always brewing
Two perfect understudies for a clown
If I could piece it all together
Or maybe find you through a friend
Last I heard it was St. Louis
But I wish that it was Mandalay again
Come back I'd like to find the time
Plant a seed and raise a little Cain
Come back we'll throw a rope around the moon
And pretend that we're in Mandalay again
Fuel and information
Are Siamese twins who poison everything
Lies that left us drowning
Rumor that burned like gasoline
I could have read you like a book
But instead I acted dumb and blind
I was younger then and foolish
Come back I'd like to find the time
If it wasn't in the afterglow of wine
Or the chatter of some European girl
I'd have understood that after all these years
There were those who chose to separate our worlds
Separate our worlds

"Cat eyes, she draws you in
Hypnotized, she's under your skin
Beauty to see, but not to touch
In the play of passion
She plays to rough
Black tiger, ready to strike
Searchin' for a victim
In the heat of the night
Cool and collected
She makes no mistakes
If you're in her territory
You know you're fair game
Scratch and claw all over your face
She's playing for keeps, oh no
You better get away
Black tiger, don't turn your back
You never know when she will attack
Hold out, watch out
Just stay away
She's gonna hurt you
Then leave you to waste
Watch out, jump back
Her teeth are sharp
If she gets too close
She's gonna make a mess of your heart
Black tiger, ready to strike
Searchin' for a victim
In the heat of the night..."

NO WOMAN NO CRY
by Bob Marley 1974
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
Said said
Said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
Oba, ob-serving the hypocrites
As they would
mingle with the good people we meet
Good friends we have had,
Oh, good friends we've lost
along the way
In this great future you can't forget your past
So dry your tears, I say
No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
Ee little darling, don't shed no tears
No, woman, no cry
Said, said,
Said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire light
As it was log wood burnin' through the night
Then we would cook corn meal porridge
Of which I'll share with you
My feet is my only carriage
So I've got to push on through
But while I'm gone, I mean...
Everything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
So woman, no cry
No, no, woman,
No, woman, no cry
Oh, my little sister, don't shed no tears
No, woman, no cry
I remember when we used to sit
In a government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire light
As it was log wood burnin' through the night
Then we would cook corn meal porridge
Of which I'll share with you
My feet is my only carriage
So I've got to push on through
But while I'm gone...
No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
Woman, little darling, say, don't shed no tears
No, woman, no cry
Yeah
Little darling don’t shed no tears
No, woman, no cry
Little sister, don’t shed no tears,
No, woman, no cry,

Speedway At Nazareth
Music & lyrics by Mark Knopfler 2000
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After two thousand came two thousand and one
To be the new champions we were there for to run
From springtime in Arizona 'til the fall in Monterey
And the raceways were the battlefields and we fought 'em all the way
Was at Phoenix in the morning I had a wake-up call
She went around without a warning put me in the wall
I drove Long Beach, California with three cracked vertebrae
And we went on to Indianapolis, Indiana in May
Well the Brickyard's there to crucify anyone who will not learn
I climbed the mountain to qualify went flat through the turn
But I was down in the might-have-beens and an old pal good as died
And I sat down in Gasoline Alley and I cried
Well we were in at the kill again on the Milwaukee Mile
And in June up in Michigan we were robbed at Belle Isle
Then it was on to Portland, Oregon for the G.I. Joe
And I'd blown off almost everyone when my motor let go
New England, Ontario we died in the dirt
Those walls from mid-Ohio to Toronto they hurt
So we came to Road America where we burned up at the lake
But at the Speedway at Nazareth I made no mistake.

Music & lyrics by The Beatles, Lennon-McCartney 1966
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from ?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong ?
Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near.
Look at him working. Darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

Long Haired Lady
Music & lyrics by Paul McCartney 1971
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, well, well, well, well,
Do you love me like you know you ought to do?
Well, well, well, well, well,
Or is this the only thing you want me for?
Well, I've been meaning to talk to you about it for sometime,
Sweet little lass, you are my long haired lady.
Who's the lady that makes that brief occasional laughter?
She's the lady we wears those flashing eyes.
Who'll be taking her home when all the dancing is over?
I'm the lucky man she will hypnotize.
Long haired lady. Long haired lady.
Bells are buzzing about my sweet delectable baby,
Birds are humming about their big surprise.
Who's your favorite person, dear phenomenal lady?
I belong to the girl with flashing eye.
Long haired lady. Long haired lady.
Ah, love is long, love is long, love is long.
Ah, when you're wrong, love is long, love is long.
Well, well, well, well, well,
Do you love me like you know you ought to do?
Well, well, well, well, well,
Or is this the only thing you want me for?

CHELSEA HOTEL No. 2
Music & lyrics by Leonard Cohen 1971
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel,
you were talking so brave and so sweet,
giving me head on the unmade bed,
while the limousines wait in the street.
Those were the reasons and that was New York,
we were running for the money and the flesh.
And that was called love for the workers in song
probably still is for those of them left.
Ah but you got away, didn't you babe,
you just turned your back on the crowd,
you got away, I never once heard you say,
I need you, I don't need you,
I need you, I don't need you
and all of that jiving around.
I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel
you were famous, your heart was a legend.
You told me again you preferred handsome men
but for me you would make an exception.
And clenching your fist for the ones like us
who are oppressed by the figures of beauty,
you fixed yourself, you said, "Well never mind,
we are ugly but we have the music."
And then you got away, didn't you babe...
I don't mean to suggest that I loved you the best,
I can't keep track of each fallen robin.
I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel,
that's all, I don't even think of you that often.

Shoulder Holster
Music & lyrics by Elton John & Bernie Taupin 1976
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now it was just like Frankie and Johnny
And it was just like Stagger Lee
Dolly Summers was a simple girl
From a mid-west family
With a stucco home and her own Mustang
And a charge account at Sears
She had everything that a girl could want
To live happy for the rest of her years
But the thing that she wanted most of all
Was the thing that she had lost
To the arms of a downtown black jack hustler
By the name of Candyfloss
They'd skipped town on a late night train
Heading for the West
Dolly slipped behind the wheel of her Mustang
With a piece between her breast
She put a pistol in her shoulder holster
She took her car up from Santa Fe
Yesterday morning she was washing dishes
Now she's hunting down a runaway
Don't judge a man by a misdemeanor
You may be sorry when his light goes out
Don't put that pistol in your shoulder holster
You can never, never tell if the Law's about
If it seemed just like a movie
Or a night of bad TV
They should have had a picture of Dolly's face
As she drove across country
With daggers drawn for her fallen man
And venom in her heart
It was nearly dawn when she caught them up
Making out in a picnic park
But the thing that shook her rigid
As she fumbled for her gun
Was the state of the man that she'd married once
And thought of as the only one
And as she looked back on the chances
That she'd passed up at home
Well she quietly dumped her pistol in a ditch
And she headed home alone

DIXIE CHICKEN
Music & lyrics by Little Feat 1973
------------------------------------------------------------------
I've seen the bright lights of Memphis
And the Commodore Hotel
And underneath a street lamp, I met a southern belle
Oh she took me to the river, where she cast her spell
And in that southern moonlight, she sang this song so well
If you'll be my Dixie chicken I'll be your Tennessee lamb
And we can walk together down in Dixieland
Down in Dixieland
We made all the hotspots, my money flowed like wine
Then the low-down southern whiskey, yea, began to fog my mind
And I don't remember church bells, or the money i put down
On the white picket fence and boardwalk
On the house at the end of town
Oh but boy do i remember the strain of her refrain
And the nights we spent together
And the way she called my name
If you'll be my Dixie chicken I'll be your Tennessee lamb
And we can walk together down in Dixieland
Down in Dixieland
Many years since she ran away
Yes that guitar player sure could play
She always liked to sing along
She always handy with a song
But then one night at the lobby of the Commodore Hotel
I chanced to meet a bartender who said he knew her well
And as he handed me a drink he began to hum a song
And all the boys there, at the bar, began to sing along
If you'll be my Dixie chicken I'll be your Tennessee lamb
And we can walk together down in Dixieland
Down in Dixieland, Down in Dixieland

And I've always liked it that way

Living and loving with a cat named Hercules
A cat named Hercules
Oh and it hurts like hell to see my gal
Messing with a muscle boy
No superman gonna ruin my plans

Long Long Time
Music & lyrics by Linda Ronstadt & Gary White 1970
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Love will abide, take things in stride
Sounds like good advice but there's no one at my side
And time washes clean love's wounds unseen
That's what someone told me but I don't know what it means.
Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think I'm gonna love you for a long long time
Caught in my fears
Blinking back the tears
I can't say you hurt me when you never let me near
And I never drew one response from you
All the while you fell all over girls you never knew
Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think it's gonna hurt me for a long long time
Wait for the day
You'll go away
Knowing that you warned me of the price I'd have to pay
And life's full of flaws
Who knows the cause?
Living in the memory of a love that never was
Cause I've done everything I know to try and change your mind
and I think I'm gonna miss you for a long long time
Cause I've done everything I know to try and make you mine
And I think I'm gonna love you for a long long time.

A Night In Summer Long Ago
Music & lyrics by Mark Knopfler 1997

My lady may I have this dance
Forgive a knight who knows no shame
My lady may I have this dance
And lady may I know your name
You danced upon a soldier's arm
And I felt the blade of love so clean
And when you smiled you did me harm
And I was drawn to you, my queen
Now these boots may take me where they will
Though they may never shine like his
There is no knight I would not kill
To have my lady's hand to kiss
Yes and they did take me through the hall
To leave me not one breath from you
And they fell silent one and all
And you could see my heart was true
Then I did lead you from the hall
And we did ride upon the hill
Away beyond the city wall
And sure you are my lady still
A night in summer long ago
The stars were falling from the sky
And still, my heart, I have to know
Why do you love me, lady, why?

In The Gallery
Music & lyrics by Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler 1978
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harry made a bareback rider proud and free upon a horse
And a fine coalminer for the NCB that was
A fallen angel and Jesus on the cross
A skating ballerina you should have seen her do the skater's waltz
Some people have got to paint and draw
Harry had to work in clay and stone
Like the waves coming to the shore
It was in his blood and in his bones
Ignored by all the trendy boys in London and in Leeds
He might as well have been making toys or strings of beads
He could not be in the gallery
And then you get an artist says he doesn't want to paint at all
He takes an empty canvas and sticks it on the wall
The birds of a feather all the phonies and all of the fakes
While the dealers they get together
And they decide who gets the breaks
And who's going to be in the gallery
No lies he wouldn't compromise
No junk no bits of string
And all the lies we subsidise
That just don't mean a thing
I've got to say he passed away in obscurity
And now all the vultures are coming down from the tree
So he's going to be in the gallery

"I've been down, but not like this before
Can't be 'round this kind of show no more
All, all that you dream
Comes through shinin silver lining
Clouds, clouds change the scene
Rain starts washing all these cautions
Right into your life, makes you realize
Just what is true, what else can you do
You just follow the rule
Keep your eyes on the road that's ahead of you
I've been down, but not like this before
Can't be 'round this kind of show no more
All of the good, good times were ours
In the land of milk and honey
And time, time adds its scars
Rainy days they turn to sunny ones
Livin' the life, livin' the life lovin' everyone
I've been down, but not like this before
Can't be 'round this kind of show no more
I've been down, but not like this before
Can't be 'round this kind of show no more
I've been down, but not like this before...."

The first crusader.
Godfrey of Bouillon (1060 – 1100) was Duke of Lower Lorraine from 1089 until his death and one of the leaders of the First Crusade. In November 1096, Godfrey was the first of the crusaders to arrive in Constantinople. He was also proclaimed the first king of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, but refused that title in the city where Jesus had worn a crown of thorns. Godfrey died in Caesarea, probably after being poisoned...

CRUCIFY
Music & lyrics by Tori Amos
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Every finger in the room
is pointing at me
I wanna spit in their faces
Then I get afraid of what that could bring
I got a bowling ball in my stomach
I got a desert in my mouth
Figures that my courage would choose to sell our now
I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I've been raising up my hands
Drive another nail in
Just what God needs
One more victim
Why do we
Crucify ourselves
Every day
I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Every day
Crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being
And my heart is sick of being in chains
Got a kick for a dog
Beggin' for Love
I gotta have my suffering
So that I can have my cross
I know a cat named Easter
He says will you ever learn
You're just an empty cage girl
If you kill the bird
Why do we
Crucify ourselves
Every day
I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Every day
Crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being
And my heart is sick of being in chains
Please be
Save me
I
I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I've been raising up my hands
Drive another nail in
Where are the angels when you need them
Why do we
Crucify ourselves
Every day
I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Every day
Crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being
And my heart is sick of being in chains

"I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in twelve-thirty flight
Her moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say
"Hurry, boy, it's waiting there for you"
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
Sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what's deep inside
Frightened of this thing that I've become
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
"Hurry, boy, she's waiting there for you"
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa...."

"Well I talk tough, I act rough
Lay still honey I can't get enough
And keep your nose clean, let me be
On your knees when you speak to me
And trust me, Angeline
And talk real dirty and I'll make you scream Angeline!"

"You win again, you gypsy heart
I count the days that we're apart
I sleep alone when you're away
No sense in saying I wish you'd stay
It's all the same, you never change
You come and go just like the rain
I pray each day that you are gone
This time it won't be so long
Your gypsy heart will never find
Any arms as warm as mine
And gypsy when we meet again
I'll play my part
And wrap you up inside my arms
Oh you gypsy heart
Your gypsy heart can always call
When your back's against the wall
And darling then I'll just pretend
Right from the start
You never left me on my own oh you gypsy heart
I pray each day that you are gone
This time oh it won't be so long...."

YOU'RE IN MY HEART The Final Acclaim
Music & lyrics by Rod Stewart 1977
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't know what day it was
when you walked into the room
I said hello unnoticed
You said goodbye too soon
Breezing through the clientele
spinning yarns that were so lyrical
I really must confess right here
the attraction was purely physical
I took all those habits of yours
that in the beginning were hard to accept
Your fashion sense, Beardsly prints
I put down to experience
The big bosomed lady with the Dutch accent
who tried to change my point of view
Her ad lib lines were well rehearsed
but my heart cried out for you
You're in my heart, you're in my soul
You'll be my breath should I grow old
You are my lover, you're my best friend
You're in my soul
My love for you is immeasurable
My respect for you immense
You're ageless, timeless, lace and fineness
You're beauty and elegance
You're a rhapsody, a comedy
You're a symphony and a play
You're every love song ever written
But honey what do you see in me
You're an essay in glamour
Please pardon the grammar
but you're every schoolboy's dream
You're Celtic, United, but baby I've decided
You're the best team I've ever seen
And there have been many affairs
Many times I've thought to leave
But I bite my lip and turn around
'cause you're the warmest thing I've ever found
