"She gets the sun in the daytime
Perfume in the dusk
And she comes out in the night time
With the honeysuckle musk
Because she smells just like a rose
And she tastes just like a peach
She got me walking where the wildlife goes
I'd do anything to reach her
And she was made in heaven
Heaven's in the world
Oh she was made in heaven
Heaven's in the world
Is this just expresso love
You know I'm crazy for the girl
Just crazy for the girl
She call me just to talk
She's my lover, she's a friend of mine
She says. "Hey mister you wanna take a walk
In the wild west end sometime?"
And I get trouble with my breathing
When she says boys don't know anything
But I know what I want
Yes, I want everything
'Cause she was made in heaven
And heaven's in the world
Oh she was made in heaven
Yes, heaven's in the world
Is this just expresso love
See I'm crazy for the girl
Just crazy for the girl
Well I feel so good because I feel so good
And I feel so good because it feels so right
I was made to go with my girl
Just like a saxophone was made to go with the night
And she can raise one eyebrow
Put her hand on my hip
And I close one eye now
Sweat on her lip
Oh and I surrender to the fever
And I surrender to the will of the night
She love me so tender I got to believe her
Love? Expresso love's alright now
'Cause she was made in heaven
And heaven's in the world
Oh she was made in heaven
Yes, heaven's in the world
Is this just expresso love
Know I'm crazy for the girl
Just crazy for the girl
I don't want no sugar in it
Thank you very much
All wired up on it, all fired up on it
Expresso touch
Hey maestro, expresso now
Hey maestro, she said expresso now
It's just another one, just like the other one
It's just another one, just like the other one oh one
Hey maestro, expresso now
I said hey maestro, expresso
I need another one
(just like the other, other, other, other one...)"

"I don't want to be beautiful
I don't want to be beautiful
I don't want to be beautiful
Beautiful, beautiful like you, beautiful like you
Good beds, bad bodies
Love the the worst of us
Drinks us like cheap champagne
Spits us up, throws us up
And I'm Evelyn he's Adam
We're the new apple eaters
We got juiced up in that garden
Worst of Sunset, east of Eden
I don't want to be beautiful
I don't want to be beautiful

"Someday she'll be here, that's a fact
Someday she'll be coming right back
Maybe I'm dreaming, I hope it's not so
But someday she's comin' back, I know
You know I'm ready to see her again
When that someday will never end
When she left with no goodbye
I was stuck with those lonely nights
You know what I mean, it's always the same
Ain't no medicine for that kind of pain
Someday comes and goes away
Bringing me a better day
Ain't no pity, ain't no shame
I hope that someday will come again
Maybe I'm dreaming, I hope it's not so
Somedays' comin', it's comin' I know
Maybe I'm dreaming, I hope it's not so
Somedays' comin', it's comin' I know...."

Down by the river where no one goes
We could be married there in the courtyard
By this old Spanish priest that no one knows
And he'll say
"Nel blu, dipinto

Felice de stare
Di stare lassu"
That means you love him
And he loves you

"Somebody's out there feeling down tonight
Somebody's hurtin' and we all know why
Sometimes all of love just isn't fair
People sometimes don't know how to care
Yeah, we've all been there
When the rain is the tears of a long forgotten love
And the wind blows like the song of a lonesome dove
There ain't no shame to feel the pain
When your all alone, when your all alone
And the tears won't dry
Til you cry...."

The first crusader.
Godfrey of Bouillon (1060 – 1100) was Duke of Lower Lorraine from 1089 until his death and one of the leaders of the First Crusade. In November 1096, Godfrey was the first of the crusaders to arrive in Constantinople. He was also proclaimed the first king of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, but refused that title in the city where Jesus had worn a crown of thorns. Godfrey died in Caesarea, probably after being poisoned...

Pirates of the Black Moon...
"Oh, the Devil is rising with the moon
He cries and my blood runs cold
Oh no, never was the darkness so black
No light and nowhere to go
My spirit is crying for a love
So tired of being alone
I remember he came here to steal
And you are his stealer of souls
I see a black moon rising
And it's calling out my name
Oh, it's calling my name
I've been blinded, lost and confused
Darkness will call me no more
Ah, Heaven is no friend of mine
No God ever knocked on my door...."

"I'm growing tired of this big city lights
Tired of the glamour and tired of the sights
In all my dreams I'm roaming once more
Back to my home on the old river shore
I am sad and weary far away from home
Miss the Mississippi and you
Days are dark and dreary everywhere I roam
Miss the Mississippi and you
Roaming the wide world over
Always alone and blue, so blue
Nothing seems to cheer me
Under heaven's dome
Miss the Mississippi and you
Memories are bringing
Happy days of your
Miss the Mississippi and you
Mockingbirds are singing
'Round the cabin door
Miss the Mississippi and you
Roaming the wide world over
Always alone and blue, so blue
Longing for my homeland
Muddy water shore
Miss the Mississippi and you
Yo-de-lee-ooo-lei, yo-de-lee-ooo-lei
Mississippi and you..."

"I wanna live
With a cinnamon girl
I could be happy
The rest of my life
With a cinnamon girl
A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together
Chasing the moonlight
My cinnamon girl
Ten silver saxes
A bass with a bow
The drummer relaxes
And waits between shows
For his cinnamon girl
A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together
Chasing the moonlight
My cinnamon girl
Pa send me money now
I'm gonna make it somehow
I need another chance
You see your baby loves to dance
Yeah...yeah...yeah..."

"When all the help in the world won't get you by
When all the friends that you lean on let you down,
You'll wonder why
I see you there with your painting box
And your oils and brushes and your artist's smocks
What'll you do if the Muse gets lost
When I'm gone?
You painted me in the way you said you knew
I don't believe that I saw myself
In anything you drew
I say you never quite caught it right
You say you see me in a different light
What'll you do with your black and white
When I'm gone
You paint by numbers
I never noticed it before
You paint by numbers
It's just a closing of an open door
When you're looking round
You won't see me no more
You paint by numbers
Staying here in this room just makes me pale
I never really could fit into your geometric scale
I see you measure my profile up
And you mix your paints in a broken cup
What'll you do if the brush gets stuck
When I'm gone
You paint by numbers
I never noticed it before
You paint by numbers
It's just a closing of an open door
When you're looking round
You won't see me no more
You paint by numbers...."

"Oh little Jeannie, you got so much love, little Jeannie
And you take it where it strikes and give it to the likes of me
Oh little Jeannie, she got so much love, little Jeannie
So I see you when I can, you make me all a man can be
And I want you to be my acrobat, I want you to be my lover
Oh there were others who would treat you cruel
And oh little Jeannie, you were always someone's fool
Little Jeannie, you got so much time, little Jeannie
Though you've grown beyond your years, you still retain the fears of youth
Oh little Jeannie, you got so much time, little Jeannie
But you're burning it up so fast, searching for some lasting truth
And I want you to be my acrobat, I want you to be my lover
Oh there were others who would treat you cruel
But oh Jeannie, I will always be your fool
And I want you to be my acrobat, I want you to be my lover
Oh there were others, and I've known quite a few
But oh oh Jeannie, I'm still in love with you
Stepped into my life from a bad dream
Making the life that I had seem suddenly shiny and new
Oh Jeannie I'm so in love with you
Stepped into my life from a bad dream...."

Any arms as warm as mine
And gypsy when we meet again

Famous Blue Raincoat
Music & lyrics by Leonard Cohen 1971
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's four in the morning, the end of December
I'm writing you now just to see if you're better
New York is cold, but I like where I'm living
There's music on Clinton Street all through the evening.
I hear that you're building your little house deep in the desert
You're living for nothing now, I hope you're keeping some kind of record.
Yes, and Jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear
Did you ever go clear?
Ah, the last time we saw you you looked so much older
Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder
You'd been to the station to meet every train
And you came home without Lili Marlene
And you treated my woman to a flake of your life
And when she came back she was nobody's wife.
Well I see you there with the rose in your teeth
One more thin gypsy thief
Well I see Jane's awake --
She sends her regards.
And what can I tell you my brother, my killer
What can I possibly say?
I guess that I miss you, I guess I forgive you
I'm glad you stood in my way.
If you ever come by here, for Jane or for me
Your enemy is sleeping, and his woman is free.
Yes, and thanks, for the trouble you took from her eyes
I thought it was there for good so I never tried.
And Jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear --
Sincerely, L. Cohen

Why do you sleep so still
I'll wake you tomorrow
And you will be my fill, yes you will be my fill
My Lady D'Arbanville
Why does it grieve me so
But your heart seems so silent
Why do you breathe so low, why do you breathe so low
My Lady D'Arbanville
Why do you sleep so still
I'll wake you tomorrow
And you will be my fill, yes you will be my fill
My Lady D'Arbanville
You look so cold tonight
Your legs feel like winter
Your skin has turned to white, your skin has turned to white
My Lady D'Arbanville
Why do you sleep so still
I'll wake you tomorrow
And you will be my fill, yes you will be my fill
My Lady D'Arbanville
Why do you grieve me so
But your heart seems so silent
Why do you breathe so low, why do you breathe so low

"She threw back that shiny hair
Like the mane on a Delta Queen
Gonna spend my last dime on a telephone call
'Cause she's the wildest thing I've ever seen
She was just plain 'mister' once
Got herself fixed up real good
Just a little boy lost in the land of the free
A wiggle and a walk away from womanhood
Now they call her the cat
And that's a stone fact
They took a little of this
She got a little of that
Now Billy got a kitty, he got something to scratch
So they call her, yeah they call her the cat
She just does that double act
She got Babs and Joan down pat
She got hips like Mick, she's a Rolling Stone
Never seen a woman shake like that
She was just plain 'mister' once
Got herself fixed up real good
Just a little boy lost in the land of the free
A wiggle and a walk away from womanhood
She's so fine that the water line
Don't separate hot and cold
She got stitched up bitchy by an old M.D.
Now she's headed out to Hollywood or so I'm told
And that's a stone fact
They took a little of this
She got a little of that
Now Billy got a kitty, he got something to scratch
So they call her, yeah they call her the cat..."

Twenty years had come and gone
I know when it changed for me
A day in June, you came to me
I've seen through someone else's eyes
With nothin' on the other side
Every motel, every town
Pieces scattered all around
Promises that I can't be
Someone's heart that I can't keep
Days so long, I couldn't speak
Roads so rocky, I can't sleep
I've seen things so beautiful
All around this broken world
That pale in comparison to you
Caroline, I'm on my way back home to you
Can't imagine what I'm goin' through
Without you by my side
It's been a long long time
Oh won't you say a prayer for me

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Billie Jean
Music & lyrics by Michael Jackson 1982
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said don't mind, but what do you mean I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
She said I am the one who will dance on the floor in the round
She told me her name was Billie Jean, and she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth
Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But Jason's not my son
She says I am the one, but Jason's not my son
For forty days and forty nights
The law was on her side
But who can stand when she's in demand
Her schemes and plans
'Cause we danced on the floor in the round
So take my strong advice,
Just remember to always think twice
(Don't think twice)
She told my baby we'd danced 'till three
Then she looked at me
Then showed a photo, my baby cried
His eyes looked like mine
Go on dance on the floor in the round, baby
People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
She came and stood right by me
Then the smell of sweet perfume
This happened much too soon
She called me to her room
Billie Jean is not my lover

"Times have changed and times are strange
Here I come, but I ain't the same
Mama, I'm coming home
Times gone by, seems to be
You could have been a better friend to me
Mama, I'm coming home
You took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had me hypnotized, yeah
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
You made me cry, you told me lies
But I can't stand to say goodbye
Mama, I'm coming home
I could be right, I could be wrong
It hurts so bad, it's been so long
Mama, I'm coming home
Selfish love, yeah, we're both alone
The ride before the fall, yeah
But I'm gonna take this heart of stone
I just got to have it all
I've seen your face a hundred times
Everyday we've been apart
I don't care about the sunshine, yeah
'Cause mama, mama, I'm coming home
I'm coming home
You took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had me hypnotised, yeah
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
I've seen your face a thousand times

Her folks they said our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough
They never did like Mama's homemade dress
Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough
And I was standing on the side of the road
Rain falling on my shoes
Heading out for the East Coast
Lord knows I've paid some dues getting through
Tangled up in blue.
She was married when we first met
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam I guess
But I used a little too much force
We drove that car as far as we could
Abandoned it out West
Split it up on a dark sad night
Both agreeing it was best
She turned around to look at me
As I was walking away
I heard her say over my shoulder
"We'll meet again someday on the avenue"
Tangled up in blue.
I had a job in the great north woods
Working as a cook for a spell
But I never did like it all that much
And one day the axe just fell
So I drifted down to New Orleans
Where I happened to be employed
Working for a while on a fishing boat
Right outside of Delacroix
But all the while I was alone
The past was close behind
I seen a lot of women
But she never escaped my mind and I just grew
Tangled up in blue.
She was working in a topless place
And I stopped in for a beer
I just kept looking at her side of her face
In the spotlight so clear
And later on as the crowd thinned out
I's just about to do the same
She was standing there in back of my chair
Said, "Zimmy, don't I know your name?"
I muttered something underneath my breath
She studied the lines on my face
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe
Tangled up in blue.
She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe
"I thought you'd never say hello" she said
"You look like the silent type"
Then she opened up a book of poems
And handed it to me
Written by an Italian poet
From the thirteenth century
And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burning coal
Pouring off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you
Tangled up in blue
I lived with them on Montague Street
In a basement down the stairs
There was music in the cafes at night
And revolution in the air
Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of him died
She had to sell everything she owned
And froze up inside
And when finally the bottom fell out
I became withdrawn
The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keeping on like a bird that flew
Tangled up in blue.
So now I'm going back again
I got to get her somehow
All the people we used to know
They're an illusion to me now
Some are mathematicians
Some are carpenter's wives
Don't know how it all got started
I don't what they're doing with their lives
But me I'm still on the road
Heading for another joint
We always did feel the same
We just saw it from a different point of view
Tangled up in Blue.

"... There's a child and a woman
Praying for an end to the mystery
Hoping for a word in a letter
Fair wind-blown from across the sea
To where the mountain men are kings
And the sound of the piper counts for everything.
There's a house on the hillside
Where the drifting sands are born
Lay down and let the slow tide wash me
Back to the land where I came from
Where the mountain men are kings
And the sound of the piper counts for everything
Where the real mountain men are kings
And the sound of the piper counts for everything..."

"On a bench, on the beach
Just before the sun had gone
I tried to reach you
Plain faced and falling fast
You looked so vacant like an empty shell
Whose life had passed upon the ocean
...
Crazy water
Takes my fishing boat on Monday morning
Dangerous dreaming
If we all believe in the things you believe you're seeing
Oh we'd never drop our nets in the crazy water, crazy water
Tangled lives, lonely wives
Shoreline widows pray
For the souls of missing whalers
Endless nights on an endless sea
Where nothing lives between us
Just the breakers on the ocean
Separating you and me
Separating you and me..."

"Miss you babe
She's everywhere I go
She's everything I know
And now I think she's finally
Touched my soul
She's heaven here on earth
Much more than I deserve
And I don't wanna ever let her go
I'm getting used to all her ways
Everything she says
Her smiles, her frowns
Her ups and all her downs
She's every move that I make
She's every breath I take
She's got a hold on me
That I don't wanna break
I mean my girl bring her home to me
My girl can't wait for you to see
My girl means everything to me
My girl my girl
My friends keep coming 'round
Saying come out on the town
What's wrong, you ain't the guy
We used to know
And I tell them I say
Without her by my side
I'm only half alive
I love her so bad
And I don't care if it shows
I mean my girl
Bring her home to me
My girl, means everything to me
My girl, can't wait for you to see
My girl, my girl, my girl
At last my heart has found a home
This time I know where I belong
I mean my girl
Bring her home to me
My girl, can't wait for you to see..."

Slave
Music & lyrics by Elton John & Bernie Taupin 1972
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's a river running sweat right through our land
Driven by a man with a bullwhip in his hand
And I've taken just as much as I can stand
Oh we've got to free our brothers from their shackles if we can
Most nights I have to watch my woman cry
Every day I watch the colonel smile
His painted ladies riding in from town
I swear one day I'm gonna burn that whore house to the ground
Slave, slave
To fight the violence we must be brave
Hold on strong to the love God gave
Slave
There's a rumour of a war that's yet to come
That may free our families and our sons
It may lay green lands to barren wastes
The price of release is a bitter blow to face

"Well, it's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right, you can sail away
And find tranquility
Oh, the canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me
It's not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right, you can find the joy
Of innocence again
Oh, the canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me
Sailing
Takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
Soon, I will be free..."

Maggie's song
"Quand le soleil se retire
Comme la mer pour un coquillage
Je m'éveille et je m'étire
Et je sors de mon nuage
Appelez-moi Maggie, appelez-moi Maggie
Mon domaine c'est la nuit
Quand je sors de la maison
Mon soleil c'est le néon
J'arrive dans la boîte encore vide
Dans la glace, ma première ride
Appelez-moi Maggie, appelez-moi Maggie
Mon domaine c'est la nuit
Pour qui veut des cigarettes
Je suis là je me tiens prête
Pour qui vient chercher la fête
Qui veut se tourner la tête
Appelez-moi Maggie, appelez-moi Maggie
Mon domaine c'est la nuit
Et j'aurais pu rencontrer
Celui que j'aurais aimé
Par une belle matinée
À l'heure où je m'endormais
Appelez-moi Maggie, appelez-moi Maggie
Mon domaine c'est la nuit
Mais je ne fais que croiser
Les cœurs démolis, usés
de ceux qui veulent oublier
Leur vie dans l'obscurité
Appelez-moi Maggie, appelez-moi Maggie
Mon domaine c'est la nuit
Les batteurs frappent comme des sourds
Dans les disques pour danser
Mais je me lèverai tôt, un jour
Pour vivre et tout recommencer
N'appelez plus Maggie, n'appelez plus Maggie
Ce matin elle est partie
N'appelez plus Maggie, n'appelez plus Maggie
Elle est partie vivre sa vie...."

Genetic studies suggest that the first people to arrive in the Americas descend from an ancestral group of Ancient North Siberians and East Asians that mingled around 20,000 to 23,000 years ago. They crossed the Bering Land Bridge sometime between then and 15,500 years ago (wikipedia).

Slow Down Georgie (She's Poson)
Music & lyrics by Elton John & Bernie Taupin 1984
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey there Georgie got a couple of things to say
One you're my friend, and two it's hurting me
Seeing you act this way
But my hands are tied and I can only try to talk you out of a fall
`Cause the reputation of the woman you're dating's
About as nasty as the Berlin wall
Slow down Georgie she's poison
Man you've got to watch yourself
She's gonna get in your head, she's gonna crawl in your bed
You're just a stepping stone for someone else
Slow down Georgie she's poison
She's just another divorcee
An undercover lover of a hundred
Other little fish in the sea
You better cut her loose before she gets her hooks in you
If you give her the world, and it was covered in pearls
She'd only ask for the moon
She's got you hypnotised, with her big brown eyes
And a body that could stop a clock
But if you think your face ain't gonna be replaced
Georgie boy you're in for a shock
Well it ain't my job to rain on your parade
But if the chips were down, you'd do the same for me
It's always been that way
She's got you paralysed with a pack of lies
About honour and the single girl
And if you buy that line you must be out of your mind
You must be living in another world

"Your mama is a werewolf with long, sharp teeth
I'm up all night when the world should sleep
I curse the darkness when it's killin' time
I got a river of fear runnin' through my mind
When the moon shines through those parting clouds
I hear the call and I howl out loud
I stalk the streets where the shadows lie
And I pray to God that that sun will rise
But that sun don't always rise
When I awaken and I'm reborn
My body aches and my soul is torn
I search the void for any clues
And I feel ashamed for what I've put you through
This curse a gift from my father's kin
They fought the beast I feel within
But we don't talk about it and we don't call its name
We just carry on, hopin' it'll change
But we know it'll never change
If my good intentions go runnin' wild
If I cause you pain, my own sweet child
Won't you promise me you'll be the one?
My silver bullet in the gun
Would you strike me down right where I stand?
Would you change me back, make me kind again?
Won't you promise me you'll be the one?
My silver bullet in the gun...."

"My friends gonna call me: hey dreamer
The stars you're watching are so far
Tonight I know I will get there
By plane or by bus - right to my star
Pretend there are things you just don't know
In spite someone's told you are so cute
You have to ask and I will show
The snow in the summer or so, so
If my star would fall
Or disappear at all
I will follow my star till the end of my days,
And my heart's gonna lead me through so many ways,
And if you're join me I'll be your guide,
Baby, 'never say never', be my 'runaway bride'
My friends gonna tell me: just calm down
The clouds you're walking are so high
This is my chance, and I'll invite
All the dreamers and lovers to fly (fly).
I'm back from the future, life goes on,
But still I remember my promise
You have to ask and I will show
The snow in the summer or so, so
If my star would fall
Or disappear at all
I will follow my star till the end of my days,
And my heart's gonna lead me through so many ways,
And if you're join me I'll be your guide,

Sent to tread the foreign miles
Where the spiral ages meet.
Felt naked dust beneath their feet.
Future sun called winds to blow

Flew hunting high and circling low over blackened plains of Eden.

I believe you were a new arrival
On the fast train passing through
And you traded in your luck for survival

Instead of rolling over you remained the same
You took the whole world by surprise..."
