"Looking back in anger
On this dirty little town
It stained your dress carved up my face
Put a wedge between our state of grace
Somethings so young and pretty
Should never be released
We place our bets we take our pick
They wind up in the belly of the beast
And when you can't get what you want
You take anything you can
So I wear this suit of beasts at night
I slip it on how come it feels so right...ETC "

"You hear it every day
'Once upon a time' they say
Once upon a time in this place
I looked and saw on your face
A smile that spoke to me in oh so many ways
The Sunday morning bells
Rang out that all was well
Sun shone across the yard
We'd rest when we worked hard
We'd take a little time off to appreciate the day
We'd get a little rain
Then the sun came out again
But a frost it's hard to fight
Once it takes hold flowers die
There's only so much you can do to keep some things alive
And love builds a garden
Grew it from the ground up
Each one of us knowing every inch of it was us
We pulled it all together
Hoping and believing
That love built this garden for the two of us to dream in..."

"I'm flying across the ocean and I'm soaring
Back home to the place I was born
You know that I'm flying across the mountains
And valleys, back home to the one that I love so much
Now don't blame me for feeling homesick
I have been away for such a very long, long time
Lord, you know I served once in the county jail
And I feel strong for being hungry, tired and poor
On and on, guess I was born to run
With your buttons and bows
Yeah, with your buttons and bows
Yeah, with your buttons and bows
I'm flying across the ocean and I'm soaring
Back home to the place I was born
You know that I'm flying across the mountains
And valleys, back home to the one that I love and miss
On and on, guess I was born to run

Don't you have some place to go
Some man to fill up your glass slipper
Some man to lay you down and let you know
That's a hard life Cinderella
Don't you want to run away

On a red bus to a green place

"Oh the press is down
And the flesh is black and white
Eager workers turning the pages
Dirty fingers touch your life
All you pretty maids
With all your charms on view
Farm the wasteground in your head now
Your sisters can't get through
Oh hey, hey, Citizen Jane
What will your sisters say
Oh they'll say ain't it a shame
After comin' such a long, long way
Citizen Jane
Now they're trading skin
And the cause is pushed away
Greedy piggies live on Fleet Street
Dealing meat out every day
Oh hey, hey, Citizen Jane

The Viking Age, during the Norse colonization of North America.
Vinland was a coastal region of North America explored by Vikings. Leif Erikson landed there around 1000 AD, almost five centuries before the voyages of Christopher Columbus. The name appears in the Vinland sagas, written in the early 13th century, which recount the stories of the Saga of the Greenlanders and the Saga of Erik the Red. It describes an area beyond Greenland, Helluland, and Markland. (Wikipedia)

BLUE MOVES was Elton John's first studio album that I bought in 1976 in a record store in Mechelen. All songs on this double album have been a source of inspiration for later drawings and so on over the years, such as this...
IF THERE'S A GOD IN HEAVEN (WHAT'S HE WAITING FOR)
“Torn from their families
Mothers go hungry
To feed their children
But children go hungry
There's so many big men
They're out making millions
When poverty's profits
Just blame the children
If there's a God in heaven
What's he waiting for
If He can't hear the children
Then he must see the war
But it seems to me
That he leads his lambs
To the slaughter house
And not the promised land
Dying for causes
They don't understand
We've been taking their futures
Right out of their hands
They need the handouts
To hold back the tears
There's so much crying
But so few that hear
If there's a God in heaven
Well, what's he waiting for
If there's a God in heaven
What's he waiting for? for..."

"Once I had a heart cold as ice
Love to me was only for fun
I'd make a mark for each broken heart
Like notches on the butt of a gun
Once I had a trick up my sleeve
A reputation all over town
I was heartless and cold, wherever I'd go
I shot down every young boy I found
Yes I used to be a moonlight bandit
I used to be a heartbreak kid
Then I met you and the next thing I knew
There I was, oh, shot full of love
Who'd have thought that someone like you
Could take a desperado like me
But , oh, here I am, I'm as meek as a lamb
With my bleeding heart there at your feet
Yes I used to be a moonlight bandit
I used to be a heartbreak kid
Then I met you and the next thing I knew
There I was, oh, shot full of love..."

The days go on, I remember you my friend
And though you're gone and my heart's been emptied it seems
I'll see you in my dreams
I got the old guitar here by the bed
All your favorite records and all the books that you read
And though my soul feels like it's been split at the seams
I'll see you in my dreams
I'll see you in my dreams when all our summers have come to an end
I'll see you in my dreams, we'll meet and live and laugh again
I'll see you in my dreams, yeah around the river bend

"And I think of you now
As a dream that I had long ago
In a kingdom lost to time
In a forest of evening
The archer is bending a bow
And I see you bring her bread and wine
Down the legions of years
The invaders have taken this land
And bent you to their will
And the memories fade of the ancients
And all that they had
Though the magic lingers 'round you still
Oh, who would walk the stony roads of Merlin's time
And keep the watch along the borderline
And who would hear the legends passed in song and rhyme
Upon the shepherd pipes of Merlin's time..."

"Who draws the crowd and plays so loud, baby, it's the guitar man
Who's gonna steal the show, you know, baby, it's the guitar man
He can make you love, he can make you cry
He will bring you down and he'll get you high
Somethin' keeps him goin' miles and miles a day
To find another place to play
Night after night, who treats you right, baby, it's the guitar man
Who's on the radio, you go and listen to the guitar man
Then he comes to town and you see his face
And you think you might like to take his place
Somethin' keeps him driftin' miles and miles away
Searching for the songs to play
Then you listen to the music and you like to sing along
You want to get the meaning out of each and every song
Then you find yourself a message and some words to call your own and take 'em home
He can make you love, he can get you high
He will bring you down, then he'll make, make you cry
Somethin' keeps him movin', but no one seems to know
What it is that makes him go
Then the lights begin to flicker and the sound is getting dim
The voice begins to falter and the crowds are getting thin
But he never seems to notice, he's just got to find another place to play
Fade away
Got to play...."

"Oh, what a night
Late December, back in '63
What a very special time for me
As I remember, what a night
Oh, what a night
You know, I didn't even know her name
But I was never gonna be the same
What a lady, what a night
(Oh, what a night)
Hypnotizing, mesmerizin' me
She was everything I dreamed she'd be
Sweet surrender, what a night
And I felt a rush
Like a rolling bolt of thunder
Spinning my head around
And takin' my body under
(Oh, what a night)
Oh, I got a funny feeling
When she walked in the room
And my, as I recall
It ended much too soon
(Oh, what a night)
Why'd it take so long to see the light?
Seemed so wrong, but now it seems so right
What a lady, what a night...."

In the past of a time
In the wake of December
In the time of your life
I will always remember
The space when you spoke
In between the words
We were struggling to float
But it's a deep dive learning to breathe
I don't know what you keep down there in your deepest ocean
You'll heal, eventually will leave

We all get left behind
You are not alone when you're lonely

"All I'm after is to be on your winning side
All I need is to be turning back the tide
'Cause I care too much for the life that I lead
What you're thinking could be anybody's guess
All I'm after is the sun and the summer nights
By the seashore, don't want no more neon lights
Just the sand and the sky as the hours roll by
Ain't it funny, how the world seems to be back there in my dreams
All I see is my reflection in your wild and winsome ways
Ain't it funny, life feels different every day
All I'm after is to be the flame in your tattoo
Be the one girl who can thrill me through and through
This is just a guess but I must confess
It feels better being certain
Please excuse my truthfulness
What I'm seeing's worth believing
When you thrill me like you do
So you wonder why my feelings never fade
I think I got it made
In the evening when the rain begins to fall
That's when I wonder if you think of me at all
But you sound so sad, in your special way
Ain't it funny, life feels different with each new passing day
All I need is my reflection in your wild and windswept ways
Ain't it funny how life changes every day..."

Looking for a new blue moon

So many moons have come and gone
And none of them were blue
So many times the sun came up but

Thought everything was going alright, but I was running out of time.
'Cause you had one foot out the door, I swear I didn't see
But if you're really going away, here's some final words from me.
Baby, write this down, take a little note to remind you in case you didn't know,
Tell yourself I love you and I don't want you to go, write this down.
Take my words, read 'em every day, keep 'em close by, don't you let 'em fade away,
So you'll remember what I forgot to say, write this down.
I'll sign it at the bottom of the page, I'll swear under oath
'Cause every single word is true, and I think you need to know,
So use it as a bookmark, stick it on your 'frigerator door,
Hang it in a picture frame up above the mantel where you'll see it for sure.

A white raven is a common expression for a very rare sight. A raven is normally black, but there is also an exceptionally rare white specimen.
According to the Greeks, all ravens were once white. But the sun god Apollo fell in love with Coronis. When she was pregnant, she fell in love with a mortal man. The white raven witnessed all this and came to tell Apollo. Apollo could not bear this. Angered, Apollo turned the white raven into a black raven. He killed Coronis and took the baby, Aesculapius, from her womb. (wikipedia)

A shieldmaiden was an independent, usually unmarried woman "who belongs to herself" and who has chosen to live as a warrior. They are frequently mentioned in Scandinavian mythology, in sagas such as the Hervarar saga and the Gesta Danorum.
According to the Nordisk familjebok, shieldmaidens also appear in the stories of other Germanic peoples: the Goths, the Cimbri, and the Marcomanni.
Examples of shieldmaidens from the sagas include Brünnhilde in the Volsunga saga, Hervor in the Hervarar saga, Brünnhilde from the Bósa saga and Herrauds, the Swedish princess Thornbjörg in Hrólfs saga Gautrekssonar, and Hed, Visna, and Veborg in the Gesta Danorum. (Wikipedia)

The women of the Crusades are the women who excelled in their roles during the Crusades. The role of women in the Crusades is often considered limited to domestic or illicit activities. While this is true to a certain extent, they also played an important role in activities such as armed combat in battles in the Holy Land and participated in the fighting.
Hadvide, daughter of Arnold I of Chiny, accompanied her husband Dodo de Cons, a confidant of Geoffrey of Bouillon. Both Hadvide and Dodo returned from the Crusade unharmed. (wikipedia)
