This aircraft was delivered to American Airlines as N1758B in Jul-92. In May-94 it was leased (along with sister ship N1757A) to a new US start-up, USAfrica Airways for a new service from Washington DC to Johannesburg.
The company got into a lot of debt and closed down when American Airlines repossessed both aircraft in Feb-95. The aircraft returned to service with American and continued until it was withdrawn from service in Nov-00 and stored at Tulsa, OK, USA.
It was sold to FedEx Federal Express as N591FE in Jan-01 and converted to full freighter configuration with a main deck cargo door by May-01. It was sold to a lessor in May-01 and leased back to FedEx. The aircraft appears to have been stored at Los Angeles, CA, USA in Aug-22. Updated 14-Nov-22.
I also have a photo of this in American Airlines livery, taken in exactly the same place 2.5 years earlier, at ...
