Garden fountains are beautiful outdoor water accents. Outdoor fountains are used in public parks, gardens, yards, patios and decks. The most traditional design is a tiered waterfall with multiple levels where the water cascades down many levels of stone. A garden fountain is very dramatic and has a high degree of water noise and motion due to the water becoming airborne and crashing into the lower level pool below. The water finds it's way into the pool at the bottom and is taken back to the top again by a powerful water pump to begin it's journey anew. Lace Lichen (Ramalina menziesii)
This beard-shaped lichen represents one of the unique features of American lichens - perforated lobes. Actually, it shows the same self-similarity, as many tree-shaped lichens do. Chippenham Park, Chippenham, Ely, Cambridgeshire CB7 5PT
A large country house with substantial gardens, lakes, woodland walks and parkland dating back to the 17th century.
The Gardens
Chippenham Park was created at the very end of the 17th century as an 'Anglo-Dutch' designed landscape comprising canals, park, and formal gardens.
It was subsequently informalised by 18th and 19th century designers including William Eames and Samuel Lappidge.
Chippenham Park contains a wealth of earthworks and waterways which relate to the parkland and garden landscapes and to the village settlement which pre-dated the park.
Features that have remained surprisingly static through history include the walled kitchen garden, the formal waterway on the east side of the park; and complex waterways south of the kitchen garden. Some of the trees, including those marking the original drive from the west.
The Gardens Now
When Anne Crawely moved to the Chippenham Park estate in 1985 she immediately set about restoring and expanding what had once been a great garden.
Chippenham Park House
Although records show that there has been a house on the present site for nearly 1000 years the property and park in any recognisable form date from the early 18th century. Lord Admiral Russel had sought permission from King William II to create the Park in in 1702. When he died in 1727 the estate passed through various hands before being bought by John Tharp in 1791, the first direct ancestor of the present owners. In his lifetime the lake was created, over 2 million trees were planted and the estate grew to 7000 acres.
In the late 18th century the house was substantially extended to accommodate many guests, this was a time of great country house parties which frequently included the Prince of Wales who enjoyed the shooting and the racing at Newmarket.
The estate later passed down the female side of the family to Basil Bacon in 1949 and in 1985 to the present owners.

Fahrenheit features a double corkscrew as its final two inversions, a maneuver we've not needed since the days of Arrow Dynamics, yet it actually kinda works in this context. The high speed turns and airtime hill is a nice, fast-paced palate cleanser to end the ride.

Built in 1997-2004, this Contemporary memorial was designed by Butzer Design Partnership, incorporating the Brutalist plaza and parking garage of the former Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, which was built in 1977 and designed by Locke, Wright and Associates. This 1:500 scale model features two identical strips of a landscape, each with a different setup of transmission lines - an older one and a newer, innovative one. Each setup accurately represents the poles, distances between them and the way transmission lines are being run through hills, forest, residential and commercial zones.
The Trona Pinnacles is one of the most unusual geological features in the California Desert National Conservation Area. The unusual landscape consists of more than 500 tufa spires (porous rock formed as a
deposit from springs of streams), some as high as 140 feet (43 m), rising from the bed of the Searles Lake (dry) basin. The pinnacles vary in size and shape from short and squat to tall and thin, and are
composed primarily of calcium carbonate (tufa). They now sit isolated and slowly crumbling away near the south end of the valley, surrounded by many square miles of flat, dried mud and with stark mountain
ranges at either side.
The Pinnacles are recognizable in more than a dozen hit movies. Over thirty film projects a year are shot among the tufa pinnacles, including backdrops for car commercials and sci-fi movies and television
series such as Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Disney's Dinosaur, The Gate II, Lost in Space, and Planet of the Apes.
However it may appear to you, a visit to the Trona Pinnacles will be a journey into one of the most unusual geologic wonders in the California Desert. These tufa spires were formed underwater 10,000 to 100,000 years ago when Searles Lake formed a link in an interconnected chain of Pleistocene lakes stretching from Mono Lake to Death Valley.

The Torre degli Orologi (Clock tower) overlooks the Piazza della Libertà where Palazzo Municipale and Palazzo Sangallo stand up. The tower, which is the belfry of the near Collegiata di San Francesco, features four dials: starting from the top, the first clock shows the Moon phases, the second (mechanical sundial) has hour circles divided into 24 sections in the “Italian hour” style, the third (astronomical clock) strikes hours and minutes. The fourth (calendar clock) shows days of the week and of the month. Under the last dial, there is a small sundial used by “moderator” to set the astronomical clock. The clock strikes at hours and at quarters. At midday, several strokes are followed by a brief harmony.
The exhibition features an array of artifacts and works by artists and design initiatives that raise provocative questions about the dynamics of care, interdependence and diversity of ability. Senses of Care features artists whose work deals with topics ranging from disability fashion to do-it-yourself (DIY) prosthetic to creative modes of reframing sensory experience, for example, foregrounding our bodily sensation of sound by a Deaf performance artist. These projects point us toward a spectrum of possibilities that emerge around what are commonly understood as limits or challenges to ability. The represented artists demonstrate ways of reorienting notions of "challenged" away from individual capability and toward challenges of forging an open and inclusive world.
