"Fear is that of the mind. Fear can be overcome, but cannot be fought. Fear can be beaten, but cannot lose. Fear can be replaced, but is not a placeholder. What is fear? Fear is that of the unknown." - McLovin

For many people, they are so scared of cockroaches, clowns, ghosts, height, and more. For me, I am scared of being alone.

Being someone that nobody cares or loved is probably the worst thing one can get. So what is your biggest fear?

I took this photos in the studio also. I used the same original photo of Alec, but a different photo of the ghostly figure this time a full body version. I ended up using the photo of the ghost with the hand coming out thinking that it may create a more fearful affect. I ended up adding one of the energy balls to create a poison apple which is kind of the fairytale symbol for faith.

This photo utilizes multiple styles of surrealistic editing. The levitation, energy ball and duplication all help to lend to the fearful quality and human emotion of this photo.

The shiny metal snake-like monster was swerving on top of the sink. Sometimes it will give out a monotonous warning drone, sometimes an intimidating hiss, or sometimes dance to a constant tapping beat (pitter patter).

Is it alive?! I am very intrigued but terrified at the same time!

Between water and space

As I go in my series and as I see my work, I look back and see the progress in a ladder for nearly 3 years ago.

Then I analyze my present and visualize a possible future. A while ago I thought I was sure about a few things, but now I feel I need a change. As developing new work for next year, I see that there are things I want to change, other than I want to leave intact, what I mean ... remains consistent, but the way I am going to present is not quite the same, even well, I feel my heart is implied in every sketch, every item I add, every move I suggest.

It feels almost surreal to see what I could move forward. Then one of my biggest fears is fed, but it's part of the process. No fear would mean just pressing a button and change colors. When I started with my image "Childhood Fears" a part of me was aware of what he wanted to represent and some not. At the time I could realize and see that fear is always there, watching, waiting for opportunities to take part. For now I will leave it to join this campaign, to display it in portions in each of my images.

Are you joining?

The thing about expression is you don’t need props to express the emotion. A slight change in an expression can reflect the mood you want to bring forth. In Indian dance we call it the navarasa’s or nine different emotions. It is the eyes that showcase these emotions. And that’s what I’m trying to show.

Fear -

This is the second of a series.

This would definetly have to be my best shot of 2007 - it is also my most favourited image and with the most number of comments ;)

I shot this as a female companion piece to my other male "In The Offing" photograph. Wanting to convey the fears we have of the unknown, of something ominous that is coming and is on it's way. Accepting that unknown and accepting your fear. Fear is sometimes a catalyst in transformation and while getting over one fear you often find another. The wind always changes direction. What's your biggest fear or phobia? Feel free to share yours in the comments.
