I see Tikki as more of a gestalt, so while she has many excellent parts, I'm not sure what my favorite would be. But her back is a contender. It's beautiful in its asymmetric markings, and it feels good when i pet it, which of course is one of the main areas I am supposed to attend to in that activity. This photo also shows her little pink tongue which is adorable when she chooses to let me photograph it, which is not frequent. In this shot, she had been partaking of the 'salad bar' (lawn) when I was taking these shots from a discreet distance. Happy Caturday 11 March 2023, "Favourite Part".

I would like to thank everyone for liking and commenting on my work.

So thanks everyone.

Ready for the Day

Every morning, I whip a lot of my favorite soap and wash my face. This is whipped safflower soap. I shot this photo in the bathroom.

I am naturally drawn to the water and I make a point to visit the local harbors. This harbor has to be one of my favorites because of the beauty of lighthouse both in the winter and the summer. I felt so happy this day to see nature's art as the lighthouse was covered with wind swept ice. The birds bobbed on the water

Thanks a bunch for all the support! 🎄🎅

Good morning everyone and I hope you had a nice weekend. As the title again indicates, today is the third in a series posted every Monday showcasing some of my favorite butterflies photographed in 2015.

Featured today is the Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele). One of only two Fritillary butterflies found here locally; the other being the Variegated Fritillary, which was a no show this past season. Sad to say I never say a single one.

The Great Spangled Fritillary is a large butterfly with a wing span of 2 1/2 - 4 inches (6.3 - 10.1 cm) and as seen above, has a fondness for Common Milkweed. Which when it does begin to bloom is usually when this species of butterfly first appears locally.

Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you have a truly great day and week.

I first heard about this legendary lens in 2006, just as I was really getting serious doing photography. I was 20 and it was way out of my price range, and why would anyone want an old manual focus lens? The allure of this special lens and the way it renders the light the passes through it is just something special. I’ve kept my eye on the pricing of this lens since then. I’ve read countless blogs about how it is so special...I just couldn’t ever convince myself to pull the trigger and buy one.

Then one day this July I was reading a blog post about this lens, one I’d read 100 times before and I thought I’d check the prices. On eBay they were all going for what I was expecting and I thought to myself I’d check KEH Camera a very reputable used gear seller. To my surprise, they had one in stock. It was about ¼ less than what they were going for on eBay and KEH rated this one as “bargain” quality.

If you’ve ever bought from KEH you’ll know that their ratings are VERY generous. I thought I’d take the chance and if it was in poorer condition I’d send it back with their generous return policy. The lens arrived, glass in perfect condition, and a single scrape on the metal lens barrel, other than that it was in perfect condition.

So I kept it, and have just fallen in love with this lens. I’m so glad it lived up to all the hype and I love the images I’ve taken with it so far. I look forward to the ones I haven’t taken yet. This is one of those lenses I’ll never sell or part with.

Winter is my favorite season. Love all the snow and ice dipped trees.
