Last Saturday March 5th, the Gavarni hotel hosted an exclusive edition between a classical private viewing and a private party. For the first time, here are some pictures of the event along with portraits by the artist Caroline Moisan and the organizers of this retrospective.

Caroline Moisan: spiritual food

Born into a family of artists, Caroline Moisan has been bathed in a fabulous environment ever since she was a little girl. All grown up, she graduated from the Penninghen school with a diploma of interior architect. After a first experience in the field of advertising as a junior artistic director, she became a designer and dedicated her time to her two passions: painting and… astrology! In 2006, she eventually gave up fashion designing and fully devoted herself to her two passions.

Influenced by the greatest artists such as Modigliani, Picasso, Waterhouse, Klimt and contemporary photographer Nathaniel Raruch, Caroline draws her inspiration from her family and friends as well as unknown faces she comes across in the street because this young artist is thoughtful and receptive to the world surrounding her above all. Thanks to her grandfather Roland Moisan, great caricaturist at French satirical newspaper Le Canard Enchaîné at the time, Caroline painted with dark colors. Especially since the young woman never let her choice of colors be “polluted”. With her paintings, Caroline isn’t conveying a message, only her emotions and the sensitivity that makes her even livelier by the minute.

“They are women but they could easily be men”. Letting her mind flow, Caroline never knows beforehand which face will arise. Emotions follow movements, not proportions. On a piece of plywood or cardboard, in shades of black and white or midnight blue, the souls stand out the most. The energy alone prevails in front of these chrysalis-like beings. The souls unveil themselves to reveal a sensuality suggested by the position of these intangible women. Such as nymphs, they inspire an extreme sensibility and sweetness. So much so that anyone could identify with one of these singular women.

Rita Verissimo Hernandez: a new genre of gallery

Because an art gallery is often an impersonal place where people are nearly rushed into buying, it’s not easy to imagine the works of art simply hanging on your wall. That is why Rita Verissimo, young 24-year old Art designer, imagined a concept that is still new in France. Created in June 2010, Art Apart’ consists in gathering a few contemporary artists in the living room of an individual or a hotel for one night. In a warm and intimate environment, the artists are put in touch with the guests by being there and they can express their emotions freely. The artists she selects following her heart already have a certain reputation in the world of art. It’s also an opportunity for guests to discover the trends of French Art and invest in safe renowned values.

For this young woman, the Gavarni hotel has an intimate warmth which perfectly fits to her concept. Also, the works of Caroline Moisan are perfectly highlighted for they fully contrast with the decor of the hotel. It struck her as an evidence to set up in the lounge of this charming hotel for her second edition.

Prisca Scheidecker, assistant manager of the Gavarni hotel, is one of those free and sensitive women, extremely attentive to associations, who draws her energy along her coincidental encounters. Touched by the courage and the determination of Rita and drawn by the desire to help French Art develop in France where the field seems to be at a standstill, Prisca didn’t hesitate for a second. She was even more interested by Rita’s approach, her concept and the deeply feminine environment of Caroline Moisan. It seemed obvious to the young woman to house this great project in her charming hotel. When asked if other events of the sort are planned, the young woman answers that she refuses any commercial approach but is still open to any association bound to lead to a collaboration.

Okay, this is a crazy picture of me, but that's what I do.

My current obsession is BLYTHE WORLD. I truly DO own ONE REAL BLYTHE doll, but this only happened after a zillion other issues, which can be read about in my NEW BLOG!

I say new, because I haven't started it yet, but I DO HAVE THE MATERIAL, the stories and pictures of my so-far travels and TRIBulations into this World of Blythe ...

... including but not limited to Clones, auction sites adventures, sticker-price shock, research, blah, Blah, BLAH!

I am also new to flickr, so hopefully I will spring for the $$$ to become "pro" ... although sadly, not only am I not a PRO at anything ... Blythe OR photography ... but I LOVE both :)

So, herewith are my EXTREME AMATEUR ADVENTURES into Worlds of who-knows-what-when ...

UPDATE 2013:

I wrote all the above about two years ago. I currently own a *few* more Blythe Girls, and have my own website ... sort of an on-line cata-blog ... 99.9% PHOTOS of all the dolly fashions I make.

blythefifthavenue.com

(Actual purchases are through etsy ~ Blythe Fifth Avenue)

UPDATE 2016:

Okay, I suck at supplying Blythe fashion. I do have a fan or two, and I appreciate them SO much ... but I discovered ... middle of 2014 to present ... that I MUCH more prefer the "photography" side of Blythe collecting (not that I am any better at THAT than I am at fashion designing ! ... and I DO have a lot of "help" (thank you picMonkey !!) ... and a "few" more girls / muses ... but I am ENJOYING Blythe a lot more ~

SIDE FACT: 2011 ... 2012 ... and most of 2013 ... I had only 4 girls ... They came to be known as MY personal "Blythe Fifth Avenue Four" ~ I know there are newbies these days who have 20 dolls within their first month of discovering Blythe ... but we had just the 4 ... for YEARS.

TO DATE: The truth is, we have about 50 girls ... and try to utilize all of them ... in photoshoots throughout the year ~ Some years we are able to be more active than others ... but the true and BASIC LOVE of Blythe never fades, goes away, or diminishes ... We LOVE all our girls, and when they arrive here at BFA ... My hope is that they NEVER leave <3 I love each and every one of my girls (and in a way, I don't imagine anyone else doing! ;) )

The year 2016 was difficult ... We did not add ANY girls this year ... (last one was Charity Charmington in early 2015) ... and SURE we are tempted by EVERY single girl we see out there!! (stock AND customs !!) ... but we are happy and content with our little Blythe Fifth Avenue Modeling Troupe :)

Our favorite flickr group by far, is the on-going "Blythe A Day", monthly group with daily themes. Sort of gives us a "reason" to share ... as opposed to just "bragging about our newest and most expensive $40,000. custom girl in her $50,000. impossible-to-get-underground-designer" frock" ! ;) ... simply not OUR style ... yet, to each their own. We love ALL BLYTHE DOLLS ... to be honest ... Kenners, Takara reproductions, ADG, or Factory (we don't use the word "fake" and "Blythe" in the same sentence EVER, again, to each their own; but for us, a doll is a doll is a BELOVED DOLL, and if you can find LOVE, of any sort, then we are happy FOR you ! ~ 'nuff said.

Hope to see you in the (flickr! Bythe) pictures ...

"The only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it."

Diana Vreeland

The Hajvery University’s Fashion School is famous by its own very name because of its ambitious, novel, pushy and pacesetter students. The Faculty of Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), HU takes innovation to skyscraper heights. Every now and then the students of HU’s Fashion School display their creative and innovative pieces of art either on campus or outside the campus.

the students of BFD/MFD displayed their collection of accessories; recycled shoes and shades in the Euro campus. The displays were being specifically made following different interesting themes e.g. in accessories they used truck art, five centers of fashion, leaning tower of Pisa, medicines etc. They made shoes by applying fabulous colors and materials. Sunglasses were the most unique and stylish. Boys preferred to use their cigarettes in an artistic manner and girls applied flowers and feathers to give their shades a more feminist and aesthetic look. Some students also used coins to be more imaginative.

It was indeed a fascinating and eye catching view of students’ collection. Competent and efficient faculty members used their vigor and expertise to evaluate the students’ performance. Teachers had set some standards to assess learners’ making, formation and finishing. Headgears were checked for their wear ability in catwalk. As far as footwear designing is concerned; balance and maintenance was the key focus. Sunglasses were observed from their projected looks perspective.

If I try to present the fashion projects display in fewer possible words that I would likely to say that it was a complete spectrum of western and eastern looks and a perfect example of prolific art.
