Who's Afraid of Aunt Jemima? is Ringgold's first story quilt. It took a year for her to make it by hand. She has described it as a 'radical revision of the character and story of Aunt Jemima', a house slave illustrated on pancake mix and maple syrup products. Ringgold recasts her as an entrepreneur.

From Faith Ringgold
(June to September 2019)
As an artist, activist and children’s author Faith Ringgold (b. 1930, Harlem, New York) has challenged perceptions of African American identity and gender inequality for over five decades. Growing up in the creative and intellectual context of the Harlem Renaissance and inspired by her contemporaries including writers James Baldwin and Amiri Baraka she is widely recognised for her painted story quilts combining personal narratives, history and politics ‘to tell my story, or, more to the point, my side of the story’, as an African American woman.
This survey exhibition, Ringgold’s first in a European institution, is chronological and includes paintings, political posters and story quilts. It begins with American People (1963 – 67), a series that exposes social inequalities and racial tensions she witnessed during the Civil Rights era, and culminates in her response to the Black Power movement. In the 1970s, her work and politics embraced feminism as she led protests outside New York museums demanding equal gender and racial representation in exhibitions, designed political posters and co-organised the People’s Flag Show for which she was arrested.
Ringgold’s paintings shifted in the 1970s from traditional oils to her first unstretched works bordered with pieced fabric, inspired by Tibetan tanka paintings. The exhibition includes her tankas from the Feminist, Slave Rape and abstract Windows of the Wedding Series Ringgold made in collaboration with her mother Willi Posey, a fashion designer. This led in the 1980s to Ringgold’s first story quilts where she was able to finally ‘publish’ her writings. She said ‘there’s so much freedom in “Freedom of Speech”, I could write whatever I wanted on my art – no one could stop me’. These works weave image and text in the tradition of quilting passed on through the female line of her family from her great-great grandmother who was born into slavery. From Harlem rooftops and jazz clubs, to a graffiti-filled New York subway and a radical biography of Aunt Jemima, the face of a pancake mix brand, Ringgold’s affirmative quilts celebrate a myriad of life, culture and aspiration. Her later quilt series Coming to Jones Road and the American Collection return to voice African American histories, including that of the Underground Railroad. As cultural assumptions and prejudices persist, Ringgold’s work retains its contemporary resonance.

2001, Barbie FMC Fashion Designer, Fao Schwarz Exclusive.
I've got this doll since ever (2002 maybe), she arrived during one of the first International (from USA) transaction I took in the early era of the web stores. She was actually a doll I didn't purchased, the vendor wrongly sent me her; I had ordered insted 3 Silkstone Lingerie #3 Barbies, two arrived but the third was this one. I did't sent her back because it took almost one year (no joke, I sent many emails and many phone calls to US) to arrive the package in Italy; I was too frustrated to start over again... and, at last, I love her!

Bandit the dog dressed as Micheal Jackson on March 25, 2011 in New York City.
Side-splitting pictures show costume dog Bandit Rubio posing as King of Pop Michael Jackson and even the King of Rock Elvis Presley. The 10-year-old pooch is known as the best dressed dog in the world and takes on more costume changes than a catwalk supermodel. The stylish Chihuahua’s wardrobe draws influences from style icons like Lady Gaga, capitalist gods like Donald Trump and even myth and legend with a lucky leprechaun. Styled by owner and school teacher Tony Rubio, 45, little Bandit has won several prizes in his native New York, graced numerous canine magazine front covers, and featured on shows like Good Morning America and the Today Show. Rescued eight years ago from an abusive drug-dealing owner in the Bronx, Bandit took to fashion like a duck to water. His career in fashion began in 2005 when Anthony bought his first pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses made for dogs.

Fashion designer Jeremy Scott is heralded for constantly bringing wearable creativity to the world of sneakers. After making noise with elaborate designs like the "Wings" and "Triple Tongue," Scott turned heads again last year when he unveiled his plush "Teddy Bear" kicks. We even saw the Snuggle-esque brown colorway worn by rapper Lil' Wayne at BET's New Year's Eve celebration. How would Scott follow up the Teddy Bears?
Set to drop this fall is the next installment of the 'bears' series, the Pandas. The shoes feature soft black and white uppers with panda heads located in the tongue area. White-stitched black rubber soles complete the look.
