Nowadays the fashion houses in Dehli and Mumbai give runway shows displaying the latest in designer Sherwanis each season.
In my explorations for my PowerPoint lecture last week on the clothing of India and Pakistan, I ran across a lot photos of handsome Indian men. These men wear the formal ethnic Indian dress known as Dhoti Sherwani, the dhoti being the trousers and the Sherwani being the decorated frock coat-like garment. The male models, of course, are adorable.

We have seen this sign sitting at the side of a neighbor's house ever since we moved into the neighborhood a couple years back. My husband and I have made up various stories about what it was, where it may have come from, and how it came to be sitting outside their house. We finally walked by today when the owner, an elderly gentleman, was sitting outside. My husband asked "What's the story with the Fashion sign?" and he replied "You want it?" We of course said "yes!", but then asked again what the story was, truly wanting to know where it had come from ... He replied that he had lived here 35 years, and had no idea where it came from. Haha, so mystery remains. But I finally have the sign. What I will do with it, well ... that's another story to come.
