Fan Hir is a peak at the eastern end of the Black Mountain (Y Mynydd Du) in the Brecon Beacons National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog) in southern Wales. It is a subsidiary summit of Fan Brycheiniog. It falls within the county of Powys and is also a part of the traditional area of Fforest Fawr. Its Welsh name means "long peak", a fitting description, particularly if seen from the east when its steep eastern face is seen to advantage. It is about 2.5 miles or 4 km long and faces east. Its summit is 2490 feet (about 760m) above sea level. Fan Hir is separated from its higher neighbour to the north-west, Fan Brycheiniog (2633 feet or 802 metres) by a col known as Bwlch Giedd, where a path rises from Llyn y Fan Fawr via a stone staircase.

Another delivery of wind turbine jackets heads toward Invergordon. A bit further away from the coast than I would've liked and the dismal early morning weather didn't help. 6.30 a.m. today.
A beautiful morning at Wamberal Beach a few weeks ago with some great shorebreak action! The waves would wash up to the very close embankment and create some pretty intense backwash which is what created this photo :) Just was in the right place at the right time!

Head down Cwm Tawe (Swansea Valley) on the A4097 to Tafarn-y-Garreg, plenty of parking.
From there head west on the Beacons Way (high level option) over Allt Fach and Fan Hir to the high point of the day, Fan Brycheiniog (802m). Keep going north out to the cairns on Twr y Fan Foel and Fan Foel for splendid views on a clear day.
Then follow the line of the escarpment westwards, down to Bwlch Blaen-Twrch and back up to Picws Du, along Bannau Sir Gaer and curve north around Llyn y Fan Fach where you leavethe high level option of the Beacons Way to drop down to your return route, the low level option along the base of the escarpment and back to the car.
Probably about 13 miles, maybe 14 if you do a bit of wandering around to take photos, definitely one of the top walks in the area, saw 2 other people all day, much nicer than the flogged to death Pen y Fan

l am thinking about the struggles women/ children are faced with every day who are bravely fighting for their freedom and rights and hope they are soon liberated and live life in freedom and peace soon.

Lufthansa used an Airbus A340-300 on their Frankfurt-Dublin route for summer 2019.
Flight LH 978/979 on Wednesdays only until Sept/ October will be upgraded from the regular A320/1 to the massive A340, a real treat at Dublin not used to regular A340 movements, certainly not passenger services.
Seen on the inaugural flight back from Dublin to Frankfurt, LH 979 on 3rd July 2019, D-AIGS doing the honors, with an Aer Lingus Boeing 757 making an appearance in between the fans.
I'm posting two more pictures on this account just so I can keep them with my mining album.
This was a fan house from the Dorrance Colliery in Wilkes-Barre that they're currently demolishing. You can see the 1883 Guibal fan inside that they're eventually going to take out and send to a museum. It might be the last surviving of its kind? I've never been able to find a picture of a Guibal fan besides this one.
I promised this breakdown in November…

This was taken at a Marko Perkovic Thompson concert in Zagreb. the image was later used as a book cover:
Good morning. Well, by popular demand it's back to hummingbird photos this morning of my little feathered friend here, which I was fortunate to be able to photograph over a three day period. But sadly she is now gone for the season, as she as well as all the other hummingbirds in the area have headed south as a result of the first spell of cool fall weather. Hopefully she'll return safe and sound next spring/summer as I was truly enchanted by her antics. And truly blessed by her delicate beauty and for her allowing me to be part of her world for those three days.
And all are best viewed in the large size.
Take care...and I hope everyone has a great day and upcoming weekend.
