Olympus OMD EM5 Mark II

Ok Ok Ok, I know, you have probably seen this location before. Yes, its a bit cliche, I know, but I had to do it. See, I am a landscape photographer, mostly. We just went on a vacation to NYC and Boston. Just not many landscape opportunities on a trip like that. So I had to get in some high quality night images where I could. When you are camped out in a City for a few weeks you can scout and get some real original compositions, but I did not have that much time there. So if you want to be sure you come back with some great images, you almost have to follow the footsteps of those before you. Thats where this came from. In doing research on Boston night images, this comes up over and over. So I throw my hat in the ring, this is my version of the classic location. I love the work of Bill McIntosh, his images are always so dark, so this follows that vain.

Thank you to Tom Wilson and Wilson (my Son, the tripod monkey) for joining me on the evening shoot. And to the other photographer who was there and kind enough to let us steal his tripod location (very cool of you dude).

I am such a fan of hummingbirds :-). A female ruby throated hummingbird fans her tail while sitting on a branch right next to my porch. This branch has been a favorite spot for many hummingbirds who have visited my garden.

País futbolero antes de la final

Tender voraus ist natürlich optisch nicht immer sehr interessant, aus der Luft allerdings weniger störend. Dies dachte ich mir am 25. Oktober 2021 als die HSB 99 7241 mit Zug 8930 vom Brocken zurück gen Drei Annen Hohne fuhr. Nur noch drei Minuten sind es bis das Ziel erreicht sind. Im Hintergrund kann man noch ganz leicht eine Dampfwolke sehen, diese ist vom Gegenzug welcher zwischen Schierke und Brocken unterwegs ist...

Een stoomloc die "achteruit" rijdt is optisch weliswaar minder interessant.. vanuit de lucht stoort dit een stuk minder. Dit dacht ik op 25 october 2021 toen ik HSB stoomloc 99 7241 met haar trein 8930 naar Drei Annen Hohne fotografeerde. Op de foto is de trein nog drie minuten van het eindpunt verwijderd. In de achtergrond is nog een beetje stoom te zien - dit is van de trein die onderweg is naar de Brocken en een aantal minuten geleden Schierke heeft verlaten..

I'm not a big fan of steam engines that are running in the "wrong direction". However, from up in the air, it doesn't look that bad and so I opted for an aerial shot for train 8930 (being hauled by engine 99 7241) to Drei Annen Hohne.

In the background, a tiny bit of steam can be seen - this is from a steam engine roughly five kilometers away headed towards the Brocken station
