Long-Tailed Tit [Aegithalos Caudatus] on a hazel branch.
This little guy and two of his friends appeared at The Pixies not long after I had replenished all of the feeders. They love my fat- and protein-rich peanut butter/seed mix!
Today, it has been raining, all day, and this wee soul looked a little worse for wear. Pathetic fallacy to assume that he was sad in all the rain, but he just seemed bedraggled and sorrowful…and very wet! Poor wee guy. Maybe he was just being reflective and existential :-) and not just crying in the rain.
I’m sure he’ll be all huddled up, warm and cosy, with his buddies, after they all have their fill of peanut butter.

It is a fallacy that you get more time to yourselves once you retire...You don;t . Have arranged one of the two funerals that I shall be attending next week who were brothers in law to each other and one my own brother in law. Both reached great ages and oddly enough I chose the song Simply the best by Tina Turner for the introduction music and yesterday was musing had I chosen appropriately. Now I shall think of it as a tribute To Tina Turner too, so I'm no longer worried. I was on the last sentence of the Order of Service that all needed to be printed when my computer mouse finally died.....doh the language was ripe in my litte office but all is now in order. Took Leo and his friend to the crappy WiFi area for the weekend so hope to catch up with everyone as soon as i can. Please regard these as just one photo.. I thought b&w added to the drama which I felt was fabulous if not actual tornado's :)
Hope you all have a wonderful day...Sue
It is not possible for me to talk about Thanksgiving in a way that ignores the responsibility the US government has yet to take for the continued persecution against our Natives. Thanksgiving is based on a fallacy in America and, at best, is celebrated by being honest about history and being politically active in voting for candidates who support human rights. That said, Thanksgiving, like any major holiday, is a shared experience and a landmark as it is a way of demarcating time and humans do love to have those boundaries set. It helps us organize our memories into the cabinet drawers of our brains. It is also often a time when we think of loved ones near and far even if we don’t see them or even reach out to them. People can be present while still alive only as ghosts and Thanksgiving is one of those times when we can make them more present if we choose to. Sometimes, it’s merely forgiveness that is needed and remembering a sense of shared experiences. Most people also have the day off from work so they have more time on their hands to reflect on things, which can be exciting or uncomfortable, depending on what it is you’re considering.
Black Friday, much like what motivates most of the world, is the day after Thanksgiving and is all about economics. People shop for deals and typically the downtown Chicago area is more than flooded. It has been a pleasant 50 degrees Fahrenheit these past few days and the only thing Americans love more than capitalism is global warming so there were more people out and about on the street. Instead of shopping, I took my parents first to an arcade on an off hour when it wasn’t very busy on Friday and then yesterday downtown to see art. I haven’t really had the urge as much to photograph people in terms of street photography lately aside from Halloween related parades and portraits but the light was so beautiful and I wanted to take portraits of my mother so I already had lugged my camera equipment with me on the El downtown. I was glad I was able to capture the shared experience of capturing people in the city after the come down of excitement of a ubiquitous event. There’s something different about the shared atmosphere that is hard to explain but I think it comes down to the idea that no matter what race, religion, or cultural background we come from, there is more that unites us than separates us. And, if we remembered this each time we stepped outside our doors, we might make some better choices every day going forwards. Either way, we must be honest with ourselves about the past if we want to have a different future.

Black is the absence of colour.
Black is not a colour.
White is the blending of all colours.
White is a colour.
Between black and white resides a spectrum of colours,
A rainbow of possibility,
Of appropriateness,
And choice.
Choosing black and white, or rather choosing either black or white, comes with risk.
If we choose black – are we choosing nothing?
Are we saying no, to possibility?
If we choose white –are we choosing everything?
Yet, in choosing everything,
Do we not also stand for nothing?
On the flip side – we want things to be black and white.
Johnny – don’t touch the hot stove.
Sabina – will you marry me?
Jose – go talk to that asshole letting his pit bull run amok in the park.
It’s black and white.
Full stop.
Conflict is rarely a world of black and white.
Rather, conflict lives in the spaces, the colours, between,
Black and white.
Between black and white is your story, your imagination.
The black and white photograph draws its’ power from your imagination, in all its’ color.
Between black and white, truth is
Held up to our biases, and logical fallacies.
Between black and white is acceptance,
That each of us is unique, our own shade of human, deserving of respect and attention.
The black and white road is a colourful one.
Embrace the journey.

Christian Han Lu was monitored and tracked by the CCP police officers, which led to her capture. The police officers have brutally tortured her, and they have also used rumors to try to brainwash her, used her family to try and coerce her, and other despicable methods to try to threaten her in an attempt to compel her to deny God and betray God. However, under the guidance of the word of God, Han Lu has made it through many interrogations under torture and has powerfully refuted the various rumors and fallacies of the CCP with truth. Within the bitter environment of the CCP's persecution, a beautiful and resounding testimony has been made …

The bushfires are still raging nationwide having started way back in June 2019.
There were 34 fatalities so far including firefighters who so bravely fought the fires so others could be safe and more than 6,500 properties destroyed and not to mentioned a billion animals had perished.
As of 14 January 2020, 18.626 million hectares (46.03 million acres) was burnt or is burning across all Australian states and territories. ... In comparison, the 2018 California wildfires consumed 800,000 hectares (2 million acres) and the 2019 Amazon rainforest wildfires burnt 900,000 hectares (2.2 million acres) of land.
Major cities were blanketed in smoke , schools were closed and sporting events cancelled. The smoke has travelled as far as Chile and Argentina.
Could all this be prevented? Did the authorities see this coming? Who is to be blamed? There is more questions than answers but the main issues have been hijacked and politicised so much so that facts and fallacies are all muddled up.
Suffer the animals, suffer those who are affected and kudos and tributes to those who fight the fires and perished so to keep the rest of us safe !

The pandemic gave rise to widespread adoption of what literary people call ‘the pathetic fallacy’: the attribution to nature of human feelings or behaviour. It seemed pretty obvious in Ottawa in the spring and early summer that the world was sick - it was dark, it was stormy and cool, and the beautiful bright migratory birds that light up the world seemed to pass us by, for the most part anyway.
Red-winged Blackbirds are the noisiest, most territorial of the early spring arrivals, and even they seemed subdued this spring.
But then the summer warmed up and lightened up, and the fall migration was rich and varied, and things seemed right in the world, or as close to right as they could be.
This image reminds me of the early mornings, and late afternoons, searching for migrants who seemed determined to fly over, and trying to keep either my self dry or my fingers warm. We are again in a difficult time, and getting outside, however inactive the birds, remains therapeutic in so many ways.

'Daytime dreamer’. What a day for a daydream...This is my favourite Owl...I have childhood memories of me and my Father raising an injured Tawny Owl fledgling and bringing it back to health, then releasing it back into the wild. Captured here roosting during the day, our iconic silent woodland hunter the Tawny Owl, Strix aluco. Deep in the woods, Yorkshire, UK.
Many thanks for visiting my Flickr pages...Your visits, interest, comments and kindness to 'fave' my photos is very much appreciated, Steve.
Tawny Owl Notes:-
Though our most familiar and widespread owl, it is strictly nocturnal and rarely seen during the day unless disturbed.
The typical nest site of a Tawny Owl is a tree hollow, wherein the owls will nest directly on the interior hole's surface. Tree hollows used may be as much as 25 m (82 ft) above the ground, but are usually within about 12 m (39 ft) off the ground.
The hooting of a male tawny owl is frequently used in TV and radio programmes and films to capture the essence of night. It is often misused in Irish dramas: tawny owls have never occurred in Ireland.
Because they don’t like flying over water they are also absent from many of our islands, including the Isles of Man and Wight, as well as the Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland.
Only the male owl utters the familiar drawn-out hoot: both males and female also make the well-known kewick call.
Male tawny owls will occasionally hoot during the middle of the day.
It is relatively easy to imitate a tawny owl by blowing through cupped hands. A study found that more than 90% of male owls can be duped into responding.
Concern about our tawny owl population prompted the BTO to undertake a recent survey. It revealed that numbers were stable.
Owls are often credit with great intelligence: this is a fallacy.
There are many superstitions surrounding owls.
The hooting of an owl was often thought to be an omen of death.
Hill hooter and screech owl are both old names for the tawny. Several names are a reminder of its daytime roosts: wood owl, beech owl and ivy owl.
The pioneer bird photographer Eric Hosking lost an eye to a tawny owl while trying to photograph it. His biography was aptly titled An eye for a bird.
Tawny owls are famous for the fierce defence of their young: bird ringers usually wear crash helmets with visors to protect themselves when ringing baby tawnies.
Tawnies are specially adapted for hunting in woodland, for their short wings give them great manoeuvrability.
Like almost all owls, the wings of a tawny owl are completely silent.
Though small mammals are their favoured prey, an amazing variety of prey has been recorded in the tawny owl’s diet,
ranging from small fish and lizards to bats and hawkmoths.
Among the unlikely birds noted as prey are adult mallard and kittiwake.
The average distance ringed tawny owls have flown between being ringed and being recovered is 1km.
Adult tawnies drive their youngsters out of their territories after the breeding season. As a result, nearly two-thirds of youngsters die in their first year.
They like to nest in holes in trees, but will readily adopt nest boxes.
Few birds are harder to census than these, so estimates of the British population are really only educated guesses. It is thought that the British population is around 20,000 pairs, living with birds notes.

"The Emperor is convinced that when it comes to truth and reality there are no substitutions or alternatives. Something is either truthful and real or it is untruthful and unreal. TYRANNICAL regimes’ ugliness can be covered under a white blanket of snow: A superficial lustre of ostensible happiness and laughter conceals Slavery in broad daylight, allowing monstrous rulers to create an illusion of normality. Tyrants are happy whenever the stormy weather hinders or impedes the protest marches.
The people are unwilling or afraid to criticize the widespread logical fallacies powdered by something as immaculate as snow flakes, or the fallacies enforced by millions’ worth of mighty propaganda. Lips are too frozen stiff (or scared) to speak out about the (nonexistent) emperor’s new clothes.
Hold on, free souls: The snow can and will melt exposing the tyrant bare, without anything on, soon, real soon!
T'was the night before Christmas.....
Color science can be a bit of a fallacy especially since most people are talking about in-camera JPEG colors.
Next, pleasing colors are not necessarily correct and correct colors are not always attractive.
I struggled with “Sony colors” initially years ago when I first got into Sony although it was mostly down to my lack of post processing skills. I was already shooting with Nikon and Olympus then. My preference was Nikon and Olympus colors, not that one was better than the other but rather, it’s all a matter of “preference”. Certain brand fanbois shills like to turn what is essentially a matter of preference into an absolute qualitative statement especially when it’s not even a problem of the RAW files.
The fundamental problem was not the Sony RAW files but a lack of a dedicated RAW developer that is optimised for Sony files for most users who are not sophisticated enough to create their own color profile.
Raw files don't really store any colors per pixel. They only store a single brightness value per pixel, Bayer interpolation takes place in the software opening the raw data. It’s the RAW developer that affects color the most, not so much the camera since the signals in the RAW file are not colors.
Canon, Nikon and Olympus always had their in-house designed native RAW developers.
Sony users get to use Capture One (“Express” version is free), a 3rd party RAW developer which personally was not properly optimised for Sony files and needed to be tweaked in the earlier versions. The latest version of Capture One however finally seems to have reached an entirely different level with much less tweaking necessary.
Addendum:

These trees on the edge of a cliff reminded me of the plight of Lemmings. Due to periodic overpopulation, during their march many end up jumping off a cliff in order to complete the groups migration. It is however a fallacy to believe they commit mass suicide in their need to relocate.

I somehow love this song and the lady performing it – it awakens childhood memories in me (and certainly also in others) and also the longing for unrestricted glitter and glamour ;-) But does it still fit in our time? Anyway – I (or others) can just enjoy it without to much thinking ...
/
These "diamonds" are made of pure glass and therefore not necessarily less valuable – they sparkle just as immensely when they catch the light from a right angle. And if there is still a little inaccuracy such as the blurring here, you really don't know exactly what is real or whether there is just a fallacy ghost playing with us ;-) So much of what we encounter is probably a matter of opinion and one does not always know whether it corresponds to the truth ...
///

1. Glass ear studs, they were on my desk for planned repairs. The cubes had fallen off at the angled glue point, revealing a golden surface that also glitters here.
2. Picture frame as a base, it consists of two panes of glass (hence the double reflection) with inlaid feathers for more glamour.
3. Desk lamp from the left from a distance, the flashlight of a mobile phone close from the left.
4. A scrap of paper as a reflector for the colored accent in blue from above.

The Western media is having a field day reporting on the "Chinese virus" that smacks of racist overtones and China phobia.
The true victim is in fact our sense of humanitarianism.
We should all support what the Chinese government is doing by trying to contain the spread of the virus.
We all live in the same global village and should all work together in unison rather than disparaging the Chinese Government who to date has accomplished more than what the US government accomplished during the 2009 H1N1 swine flu pandemic.
When the swine flu pandemic died down in April 2010, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated that 60.8 million Americans had contracted the virus, 274,304 were hospitalised and 12,469 had died.
In December last year, the flu season arrived unexpectedly early in the US, afflicting at least 19 million people, hospitalising 180,000 of them and killing 10,000. This is according to the CDC's Weekly US Influenza Surveillance Report on Jan 25.
As of Wednesday, the coronavirus has, within China, afflicted over 24,300 people and killed 490. Outside China, it has afflicted at least 186 people and killed one.
However, commentators online are expressing greater terror over ethnic Asians than the ongoing regular flu.
Know the facts from the fallacies and keep up the spirit of helping our fellow human beings in our shared time of need.

************
È sempre emozionante il tramonto,
indigente o sgargiante che sia,
ma ancora più emoziona
quel bagliore finale e disperato
che arrugginisce la pianura
quando l’estremo sole s’inabissa.
Fa male sostenere quella luce tesa e diversa,
quell’illusione che impone allo spazio
l’unanime timore della tenebra
e che a un tratto svanisce
quando ne percepiamo la fallacia,
come svaniscono i sogni
quando scopriamo di sognare.
(Jorge Luis Borges)

I have a sequence of this sunset! Incredible, and indeed I could post the sequence, I will do it on an autumn day.
I could not believe the shape of clouds and colors, left everything to the original. This was the last photo, I just chose it because it completed the evolution of the sunset.
************
Sunset is always exciting,
destitute or scary that it is,
but still more emotional
that final glow and desperate
which rusts the plain
when the extreme sun snoozes.
It is bad to support that tense and different light,
that illusion that forces space
the unanimous fear of darkness
and suddenly vanishes
when we perceive the fallacy,
how dreams vanish
when we discover dreaming.

words of God in the Last Days | "Only Those Who Know the Work of God Today Can Serve God"
www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/only-those-who-know-the-w...
Introduction
Almighty God says, "In your belief in God, how should you know God? You should come to know God based on the words and work of God today, without deviation or fallacy, and before all else you should know the work of God. This is the foundation of knowing God. All those various fallacies that lack a pure acceptance of the words of God are religious conceptions, they are an acceptance that is deviant and erroneous. The greatest skill of religious figures is taking the words of God that were accepted in the past and checking the words of God today against them. If, when serving the God of today, you cling to the things enlightened by the Holy Spirit in the past, then your service will cause an interruption, and your practice will be outdated and nothing more than religious ceremony. … God feels no nostalgia for what He spoke and did in the past; if it is obsolete, then He eliminates it. Surely you are able to let go of your conceptions? If you cling to the words that God spoke in the past, does this prove that you know the work of God? If you are unable to accept the light of the Holy Spirit today, and instead cling to the light of the past, can this prove that you follow the footsteps of God? Are you still unable to let go of religious conceptions? If that is the case, then you will become someone who opposes God."

non se·qui·tur
Pronunciation: \ˈnän-ˈse-kwə-tər also -ˌtu̇r\
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin, it does not follow
Date: 1540
: an inference that does not follow from the premises; specifically : a fallacy resulting from a simple conversion of a universal affirmative proposition or from the transposition of a condition and its consequent
Did you know that the bull charging at something red is actually a fallacy? Bulls, along with all other cattle, are color-blind to red. Thus, the charging bull is likely irritated not by the muleta’s (the little red cape used by the matador) color, but by the cape’s movement as the matador whips it around.
I love to collect vintage accessories. This includes antique fans. My favourite fans are those from the Victorian and Edwardian era. Fans from these eras are extremely ostentatious and beautiful. However, I also have some Art Deco fans which whilst less ostentatious make up for that with their colour, like this red Spanish fan from the 1920s printed by hand with a bull pattern. The colour of this fan is such a vibrant red, and it probably still is so because wen I acquired it, it was still crisply sitting in its original box. I suspect it may have been bought by a tourist who went to Spain and they never actually used it.
The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 19th of February is "bicolora", so only two colours are allowed in the photo. Therefore, I have placed my red 1920s Art Deco fan against a black velvet background to match the black of the hand printed bulls, thus having only red and black in the photo. I hope that you like my choice and that it makes you smile.

Shattering Expectations: The Bimbo Fallacy
The weight of expectations can be massive. Just like… well, you know. Being a bimbo comes with all kinds of crazy assumptions. But a true bimbo isn’t defined by the expectations of others.
Another digital manipulation of a picture of basement electrical conduits, rippled into the realm of the abstract.
In the Old World before the 17th century, ‘Black Swan’ was a saying synonymous with the impossible or the absurd, as all swans were known to be white.
Then the Dutch returned from West Australia and pointed out that there’s rather a lot of them over there, and the saying flipped to mean a logical fallacy, or an unprecedented event that exposes the brittleness of imperfect logic.
There’s still rather a lot of them over here. Big, stroppy buggers. More Odile than Odette. Will look you straight in the eye then peck, peck, peck...

“Being solitary is being alone well: being alone luxuriously immersed in doings of your own choice, aware of the fullness of your won presence rather than of the absence of others. Because solitude is an achievement.” - Alice Koller

[The older I get, the more I appreciate my alone time. I take that time to deconstruct my thoughts and then allow them to slowly, naturally reassemble themselves.
Pictured here is the ephemeral Lulu. I spent Sunday morning up in Canada surrounded by glorious photographer friends. The fog and sunlight made the forest and lake where we were *so* unbearably glorious that I quite literally became nauseated by the overwhelming beauty of what I was experiencing. My hands were shaking while I shot this and a handful of other images, thanks to my ill-contained excitement. You know how people say something is so wonderful they might puke? Yeah. That. It is not a fallacy, my friends!]
I am probably a typical American in that I wear a baseball cap to protect my eyes and face from the sun. And when it rains, the cap's visor keeps my eyes dry and the view clear.
I looked up the origins of the baseball cap. I had always assumed that it was borrowed from cricket of the 1800s, a game that is popular around the world in the British Commonwealth and even was played in the former British colony of America. But an article by BaggyCap writes that it actually is the other way around. Although cricketers wore various hats, they did not wear the modern eight-panel baggy ball cap with a peak until the Americans invented it. Cricketers loved the functionality of the American baseball cap so much that they borrowed it for cricket.
"Most people justifiably associate the Baggy Cap with the game of cricket...which was played all around the world in the 1800s. There is however no doubt that from the historical perspective at least...this is a commonly held fallacy and a very inaccurate assumption because there is no doubt the origins of the Baggy Cap actually originate from the game of Baseball! … Following Peck & Snyders manufacturing of the Boston style baseball cap … this style of cap quickly became cricket’s preferred style of headwear...and as you can see there are many photos and depictions of cricketers wearing a baggy styled Boston Cap in the mid to late 1800s in the US, Canada and England." — Source: BaggyCap.com
Note: The rim of the cap's visor in the frame above is approximately 2 inches long.
