This was such an awesome concept: hanging from a tree in my favourite skirt looking all carefree... but everything about it failed:

1. there were like 10 people standing around watching me, and that made me nervous and embarrassed.

2. The sky got really cloudy just as I got started.

3. I really wanted to use my fiddy, but I had a rough time framing the shot with my camera so low to the ground.

4. I couldn't reach the branch from the ground.

5. when I climbed the tree I realised that I wouldn't be able to swing down without falling.

6. I tried to hang from my knees but the skirt kept getting caught up so my underwear showed.

7. I couldn't actually hang because of the angle of the branch.

8. I scraped my knee getting down.

9. I didn't even get a half-decent outtake :(

Feh. I hate it when I have a great concept and it doesn't work out! I have to do chores now and don't feel like reshooting. I'll try the concept again on a clear day.

But! for FGR: I'm rockin' out in a tree.

A new look and it is working it's a save for the DMU

...but not because it doesn't look good now, because it does. Annie was supposed to be a redhead from the beginning but, when I tried this wig on him when he had his first faceup (that I accidentally destroyed) this wig looked AWFUL on him! Like, SUPER DUPER AWFUL! I then gave this wig away to my Volks School D boy. But, I decided for curiousity's sake to try this on him now and see what happened. Unfortunately, it looks friggin GREAT! But, I already gave the wig away to another character and I now have a completely different idea for his new wig. So, he will remain a temp blonde while I remain bitter that NOW he looks good in red. LOL! :D

I took this. And put text on it.

really people? add an R to the 'u self' plz.

Long live the rofltiger.

Seriously bulged PTFE, but the PEEK nut held the barrel in place.

I spotted the vendor from far away, noticed the traditional clothing he was wearing. I walked past the table pretending not to notice him. Then I acted like I have taken interest in the stuff he was selling. Pulled out the camera, wham! he blocked his face. Understanding the gesture, I snapped anyway, hoping he would not kick my butt for it (learned this from Ana Lee Smith).

If I recall correctly, Josh was a little unwell on the day.

I always shoot RAW and up until now I always shot with Nokon gear only. Hence I have only used Niks excellent (its a love or hate type of software) Capture NX to process my RAW files. Recently I bought a Fuji X100 so with that I needed to search out a RAW processing program for it. Natural choice was Adobe Lightroom. New version just out, many revisions and also hugely popular.

I installed the demo version and went ahead and learnt how to use it. While it had many features that I would never use, the main thing of converting RAW files worked well and I achieved good results without too much effort. Lightroom though was very slow on my not so new but not so old system. But I could live with it.

I looked at the pricing and in Australia its sold for $187 ex GST (ie download version). In USA its $149. Being an Aussie I get charged 25% over the USA price. Not cool. I tried a quick method to fudge it and "pretend" I am American but that failed. I know I can setup proxies, mail addresses to get around this but I didn't feel like going to these lengths just to buy a product.

In the end I gave up on Lightroom and tried different RAW processors. None really caught my eye too much, plus they were quite expensive. It wasn't until late last week I came across Corel After Shot Pro. Based on the old Bible Pro, I decided to give it a go. Impressive, very impressive. Not as polished as Lightroom, but also not as bloated, and much, much faster. The best bit is that I pay same price whether I am in Sydney, San Francisco or Hong Kong. And the better bit is that the price of $53 USD (using coupon code "ARTCOREL10" for 10% Off ) is about $80 cheaper than the Adobe stuff.

Fail Adobe. And I hope this enquiry will result in some changes. Some Adobe execs need to realise that if you buy a coffee in Sydney they will be charged the same price as the Aussie dude standing next to them or the Chinese woman sitting reading the paper sipping her coffee...

Robert fails again

Here I was actually looking forward to the movie, too.

There are people that are processing E6 slide film with a B&W developing stage followed by a normal c41 process.

My 2 attempts failed this was developed in 1:1 Xtol 40 minutes at 40c, no fixing, exposed to sunlight and then through a c41 process to reverse the image. While result had mostly noise in the blue and channel and a very noisy red channel, all over a very dense but thin positive.

Tom tried to help me install my new Soma drop down handles on my newish Masi Speciale Fixed tonight but it was a no go. The handles fit perfectly but we didn't realize that the brake lever he bought last week was too big for my handles so we weren't able to install them properly. Big bummer because I was really looking forward to this. Anyway, here are a few pics of the process. The original ultra wide masi handles will have to do for now. Darn!

The top of her staff fell three feet and hit the hard tile floor with a crash. This is probably the saddest moment....but wait, what’s this? It’s not shattered at all! Literally every point of glue just came unglued all at once- right down to the inner magnet! Wooo dodged a bullet, just got to glue it back together.
