I have a long-lasting love affair...with Clinique.
I was first introduced to Clinique in my late teens when a friend had some free samples. At the time it was way out of my budget so I stuck to buying Boots N17 or Superdrug own brand.
I always liked the Clinique packaging, the way the products look, the clean silver casings.
About 4 years ago I was re-introduced to Clinique when I first began working in Manchester. A friend had an invite to a Clinique counter to test some products and to get people interested in the 3 step programme.
At the time I wore minimal make-up - just foundation. I was offered a makeover and I was hooked. I liked the way they had put the make-up on and it looked natural. I also liked how my eyes were opened up. At the time I was hiding behind my glasses.
The make-up gave me a new level of confidence - along with the new job I had. My boyfriend at the time couldn't get to grips with the change in me (it wasn't JUST make-up but it contributed). Not long after the relationship came to an end - for a multitude of personal reasons - and one of the parting comments was "You've changed. You wear more make-up."
4 years later I still wear Clinique, and the make-up still makes me feel confident!
And yes I have changed from what I was 4 years ago, and I am much happier for it. I can't believe quite how my dreams have come true - workwise I took the job in Manchester with the hope of being able to do a PhD as part of the research. It happened - eventually. It was a dream come true - although at the moment I'm cursing it!
Relationship wise - well I went on some awful dates before Paul winked at me...and the rest, as they say, is history. Meeting the love of my life has probably been the most significant thing to happen in my life for, well, nearly ever. And I don't think he minds the make-up.... :-)

These shots were taken over the course of an hour. It usually takes me about an hour to get ready. I faff about, I have breakfast before showering, then after make-up it's time to do the hair. The right hand bottom corner pic is my hair drying au naturel. I hairdryer and straighten it!
I thought I didn't care about Explore. Oh sure, a couple of times I'd note my stats on the profile page, but that was the extent. Then one day I noticed that I had 99 images in Explore. In the past,I've had more and I've had fewer, but that 99 nagged at me. I wanted an even 100. So I started using Scout to check my numbers, which of course dropped precipitously as soon as I looked at them. For weeks, I saw the numbers inch up and down. Finally, my patience was rewarded. I've captured the moment and now can go back to thinking I don't really care about Explore.

I got up at 3 something that morning, rode a bicycle for 7 km in the dark. Yeah it was pitch black out there, since there wasn't any street lights. yuck! I got there at almost 4, just in time to see the beginning of the ritual.
This ritual commences every morning at 4 am when monks wash the face and brush the teeth of the Buddha image.). It is an elaborate ritual performed for over an hour by a senior monk dressed in monastic attire, assisted by several lay helpers, dressed in white and wearing formal headdress. As soon as the drums are struck, the senior monk residing in the adjoining monastery enters the sanctum and starts the formal face washing ritual with a succession of fresh towels, offered by devotees. He then performs the act of cleaning the Mahamuni's teeth with a large brush followed by one more sequence of cleaning with fresh towels. After this, sandalwood paste is applied to the image and it is again cleaned with towels and finally sprinkled with scented water. After the ceremony is completed, the used towels are returned to the devotees who keep these towels with reverence in their home shrines.
