Crews cover the casement windows of Castle Williams in preperation for work. The project is expected to be completed in 2011.

With less than a month until the Shanghai Expo begins, last-minute cosmetic improvements are in full swing as the city rushes to present its best face to the world. These workers from Anhui are giving this drab 15-year old apartment complex a new coat of concrete and white paint.

Changning, Shanghai, April 2010

Red cladding has been installed. Shouldn't be too long until the facelift is complete.

Monmouth Square with its Water(less) Gardens. Thought I’d get a few photos in before the imminent revamp of the town centre.

The buildings around Gwent and Monmouth Squares are getting a gaudy cladding makeover. Additionally, the Gwent Square bandstand and the much loved “Dai & Myfanwy” clock on the Congress Theatre is being removed, fate unknown. On Monmouth Square, the Water(less) Gardens are being removed and built over. I suspect the distincive relief cladding on the Monmouth House tower is safe.

In my opinion the Water Gardens should be restored to their former glory, forming a wonderful focal point, not filled in for the benefit of (yet another) cafe and a few market stalls.

Once the Vogue Theater (built 1949) this later day theater has been a church for a few years (Iglesia La Luz Del Mundo). Is being "remodeled" to look more like a church.

Finally got to put my kit on the Z, incredibly happy with how it turned out. Snapped this picture at the gas station down the road from Smoke Em Motorsports while driving home next to Nick's Q45.

House of Frazer (David Evans) on the western edge of Gwent Square. Looks like workmen are carrying out a recce of the building prior to the makeover. Thought I’d get a few photos in before the imminent revamp of the town centre.
