Hebden Bridge.... complete with Busker, pedestrians and shoppers...
(Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire UK)
Sundial, with the gnomon in the shape of a fustian cutters knife or needle.
The one-tonne sculpture of a "fustian knife" was unveiled on the Summer Solstice by the Mayor of Calderdale, Cllr. Conrad Winterburn and the Mayor of Hebden Royd, Cllr. Susan Press.
Fustian knives were used in the manufacture of corduroy, a fabric for which Hebden Bridge was known throughout the world.
This large scale replica of a Fustian knife points directly north towards Nutclough Mill, former home of Hebden Bridge Fustian Manufacturing Society Ltd, founded in 1870. Pecket Well mill was the last mill in Britain to manufacture corduroy fustian cloth ( 1858 – 1989 ).
The sculpture was developed jointly by the Traffic Review Steering Group, Council Officers and local sculptor / artist, Mike Williams. It is cast from bronze in a Sheffield foundry and stainless steel fabricated by a firm in Halifax.
A large bright red outdoor abstract sculpture fabricated from steel I beams. The sculpture, named "Flower Power" is located near the downtown core in Toronto, Canada. You can see the Rogers Centre and CN Tower in the far right of it. The art work was created by internationally known artist Mark di Suvero in 1967.

A sculpture on The Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia by internationally acclaimed artist Roxy Paine
"Hand-fabricated from thousands of pieces of stainless steel pipe, plate and rods, Symbiosis suggests both ecological and anatomical branching systems. Rising 34 feet high, the more than 3.5 ton sculpture was created from standard industrial piping that was welded, formed and polished in the artist’s studio to create two shimmering, interrelated organic forms that both buttress and weigh on one another, referencing the darker aspects of nature and the fierceness of its laws"

Not too long ago, it dawned on me that I hadn't been to this area of town since early in the year when I changed jobs and locations, so today as the sun started to set I figured I'd go take a look.
The Rock Sculptures by John Felice Ceprano are back again this year and as always, they're amazing.
A very busy place for photographers to gather at sunrise and sundown, and today's sunset was no exception, luckily for me though, I found a little corner that no one had noticed.
If you'd like to know more about the artist, you can visit his website, www.jfceprano.com/.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

Brookfield Place celebrates Earth Day by releasing a unique flock of 50 luminous floral-patterned birds into the Allen Lambert Galleria. Their propulsion draws on the air we breathe, underscoring the interconnection between man, nature and the preciousness of our environment.
Breath is an iteration of Air Pressure, a successful exhibition of blue birds mounted at Brookfield Place New York. Building on the concept, the Earth Day installation utilizes a variety of floral patterned silks, a natural organic material, to create a cohesive cloud of colourful forms, representing the beautiful complexity of our planets diversity.

3D Printing
When repairing vintage cameras, I often use a 3D printer to design and fabricate replacement parts that are otherwise unavailable. Even after all this time, the intricate movements and precision of this machine fascinates me. I was printing a tiny 5mm wide hollow bushing for a camera I was servicing. I sat watching the printer form the part, layer by layer. I suddenly thought … “I need to photograph this because it’s something many have never seen!” I grabbed a camera and captured this image in the final seconds, just as the hot end of the printer withdrew from the finished print.

As we wait around by the cement works, around 50 metres behind us freights roll by on the busy main line from Astana to all points south. Most are in the hands of the Alstom KZ8 double unit electrics, but around a fifth are hauled by the much older VL80. So eventually it seems like a good idea to run over and see what is coming this time when the crossing gates sound for the umpteenth time. You know, if you actually decide to wait for one, then nothing comes in the direction you are hoping for. But this time the coin lands heads up because the freight that plods into view is a red Dar Rail VL80c.
And another secret is shown, behind all the undergrowth are the pre fabricated platforms of Aktau station. Infrequent stopping trains formed of Electric multiple units do call here.
Dar Rail operated VL80s-1763 passes through Aktau station adjacent to the cement works on the main line from Astana to Karagandy on the 30th of April 2025.
A private commission from a new client. 15 grams....I fabricated this from scratch. No purchased parts.....except the rubies. I finally got a chance to use an old french oval drawplate to make the wire for the chain. I like this shape better than round wire for chains. I love designing concealed clasps....they are challenging! This clasp is a 'double-click' clasp....very secure....but easy to operate with one hand. I made a big boo-boo on this piece.....I just noticed it now......but it is easily remedied. I failed to engrave part of the letter 'M'.........I was REALLY pressed for time on this piece......I sorta rushed the engraving.......shoot!
"I can't wait 'til they fabricate the highway, crawling through this slurry is killing me."
"That'll never happen in our lifetime! You know the cartels don't stop bickering long enough for anything to get built."
"If they had any sense they'd finish it soon. The terraformers are in overdrive, the summers are getting longer and there's always more muck to crawl through while it's thawed."
"At least the CEO paid real money to get us some ex-military tech, built to survive. I can remember having to fix a drive chain on an old cargo rig. Back then we were in full gear too; at least these days you don't immediately suffocate outside your cabin."
"Yeah, nowadays it can take as long as 15 minutes to flatline."
"Hah! 'Travel offworld' they said... 'live in paradise' they said..."
Not the fastest vehicle by anyone's metric, auger drives are still a common sight because of their all-weather, amphibious capabilities. Corporations like Providence often procure their fleets from military fabricators, which they utilise in maintaining their vast terraformer facilities.

I have always loved an inviting arch or doorway. This is a fabricated image. The stone arch is based on a work "Stone Arch - Stock by HBKerr on DeviantArt". I used his free bitmap as a fill for my drawn wall shape and made a few minor alterations to fit the mood. The fence and creeping plants are as shot and the meadow flowers are from another of my own images, HBKerr deserves both visitors and customers. www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&...

Binyamin Council: How the torched church Blood Libel was debunked. Behind the scenes of how the council uncovered a story fabricated to blame Israelis for a fire at an ancient church archeological site in Taybeh.

The Binyamin Regional Council has exposed the blood libel that was spread in the international media over the past week, claiming that residents set fire to a church in the village of Taybeh. The falsehood was refuted through a video from the scene proving that the church had not burned at all, along with direct communication between the Governor of the council and Ambassador Mike Huckabee, who issued a clarification on the matter.
Over the past week, serious accusations were made in the international media against residents of Binyamin, alleging they started a fire that spread to the Saint George Church (an old church in the village of Taybeh).
The information was disseminated by influencers and opinion leaders, falsely blaming the local residents for arson without any evidence. This incident caused significant damage to Israel’s public image and to the community in Binyamin, with the false claims reaching a wide global Christian audience. Even the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, visited the village and strongly condemned the alleged arson.
In response, the Binyamin Regional Council worked to debunk the lie. The council’s foreign affairs media desk managed to film a video showing that the church had not burned at all. Additionally, the Israel Police issued a statement clarifying that the church had not been damaged by the fire, which had occurred in nearby areas.
Governor Yisrael Ganz remained in close contact with Ambassador Huckabee and updated him with the facts. Following this, Huckabee issued a public statement correcting the record and clarifying that no church had been burned.
Importantly, the circulated footage used as supposed “evidence” against the residents in fact shows Jewish shepherds actively trying to extinguish the fire with firefighting tools they had with them.
Yisrael Ganz, Governor of the Binyamin Regional Council and Chairman of the Yesha Council, stated: “I want to extend my deep thanks to Ambassador Mike Huckabee for his important clarification. He is a true friend, and I value his integrity and willingness to stand with us, not only in support, but in seeking the truth. His voice carries weight among Christian communities around the world, and his commitment to uncovering the facts is a powerful blow to those who seek to defame Israel and its citizens."
"The attempt to frame the brave residents of Binyamin with a modern blood libel has failed. Anti-Israel actors are working relentlessly to divide us from our Christian allies by spreading lies and fabricated accusations. But here in Binyamin, we will continue to stand firm. We will not allow the name of the communities in Judea and Samaria, or the name of the State of Israel, to be tarnished.”

Eliana Passentin, Director of the Binyamin Regional Council's Foreign Desk, stated: “As an archaeologist and someone deeply committed to interfaith respect, I was troubled when many of my Christian friends reached out with concern. I went to Taybeh myself, filmed the church, and confirmed it was completely unharmed. The brush fire could not pass the church’s exterior garden stone walls."
"We are determined to find whoever started the fire nearby. I deeply appreciate Ambassador Huckabee’s clarification, his integrity and friendship mean a great deal to us.”

Shipbuilding in Grimsby is now only undertaken by a couple of yards, this compares to Grimsby's past when the fishing industry and its support industries was a massive employer. That said a small number of boats are still made and skills are still alive and well.
The Helix, Falkirk
I've seen many images of the Kelpies here on Flickr and wanted to visit them myself, so when the opportunity arose during our mini-break to Queensferry and Edinburgh this bank holiday it was duly programmed into the sat-nav as they are only a short drive away (5 miles) from the Falkirk Wheel.
I must say that I have reservations about "modern art" and often consider the "art part" is convincing people that it is art. However, I found these incredibly impressive art installations and worthy of the stop-off. My only gripe about our visit is the inconsiderate maintenance crew that left two cherry pickers parked right against one of the sculptures with the cage strategically placed under the horse's nose over the bank holiday weekend. I think the most skilled Photoshop exponent would have difficulty removing them. Certainly beyond my capabilities and hence my chicken's approach to simply hiding them from view.
The origins of the Kelpies...
The Kelpies are a pair of 30m high horse-head sculptures built of structural steel with a stainless steel cladding. They stand next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal, and near the River Carron, in The Helix - a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area. The sculptures were designed by sculptor Andy Scott and were completed in October 2013 and following installation opened to the public in April 2014. The sculptures form a gateway at the eastern entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal, and the new canal extension built as part of The Helix land transformation project. The Kelpies are a monument to horse powered heritage across Scotland.
The name was chosen by Scottish Canals at the inception of The Helix project, in 2005. The Kelpies name reflected the mythological transforming beasts possessing the strength and endurance of 10 horses; a quality that is analogous with the transformational change and endurance of Scotland's inland waterways. The Kelpies represent the lineage of the heavy horse of Scottish industry and economy, pulling the wagons, ploughs, barges and coal ships that shaped the geographical layout of the Falkirk area.
According to sculptor Andy Scott, "The original concept of mythical water horses was a valid starting point for the artistic development of the structures." He also said that he “took that concept and moved with it towards a more equine and contemporary response, shifting from any mythological references towards a socio-historical monument intended to celebrate the horse’s role in industry and agriculture as well as the obvious association with the canals as tow horses”. In 2008 Scott created three-metre-high miniature versions in his Glasgow studio. These were then scanned by lasers to help the steel fabricators create accurate full-scale components.
According to Scott the end result would be "Water-borne, towering gateways into The Helix, the Forth and Clyde Canal and Scotland, translating the legacy of the area into proud equine guardians".
Taken of Central Fabricators' building in the West End neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio.
The intersecting drain pipes were the first thing that caught my eye, but there is a lot more to think about while looking at this shot. Water damage - patch work repairs - blocked up windows - is it still being used? and on and on. The building is quite large and extends both directions out of the picture. There is another set of drain pipes that match this one just to the right.
Central Fabricators says they are custom chemical process equipment manufacturers for the midwest and have been since 1946. I wonder why all the windows have been blocked and what that does for the working conditions inside the building.
Here's a series of 12 shots took from the top of Stainborough Castle, which is a Grade II* Listed Building. It was quite overcast that day. I estimate viewing range was 3-5 miles.
Stainborough Castle is a sham ruin (fake castle) constructed as a garden folly on the Wentworth Castle estate.
In 1727, Thomas Wentworth began building the folly. He wanted to give the impression this estate had been in his family for centuries. In fact he purchase the the estate in 1708. Thomas called the folly Stainborough Castle and renamed the main house Wentworth Castle. To show off his estate, Thomas invited his cousin and rival at Wentworth Woodhouse for an extravagant feast in the castle grounds.
From January to June 2021 work was carried out to improve the condition of Stainborough Castle. Funded by Barnsley Council, the project preserved Thomas Wentworth's creation so that visitors can carry on enjoying it for years to come.
