FYI. In case you are wondering how an image can have so many views and little or no faves, it's because I changed my permission options once. I lost all my faves on 20 shots, and partial faves on a few others. Flickr glitch I guess.
FYI - he HATED his glasses back then. So naturally he hates this picture of himself but I love it because of the beautiful and amazing memories it brings back.

A planthopper is any insect in the infraorder Fulgoromorpha within the Hemiptera. The name comes from their remarkable resemblance to leaves and other plants of their environment and from the fact that they often "hop" for quick transportation in a similar way to that of grasshoppers. However, these planthoppers generally walk very slowly so as not to attract attention. Distributed worldwide, all members of this group are plant-feeders, though surprisingly few are considered pests. The infraorder contains only a single superfamily, Fulgoroidea. Fulgoroids are most reliably distinguished from the other members of the classical "Homoptera" by two features; the bifurcate ("Y"-shaped) anal vein in the forewing, and the thickened, three-segmented antennae, with a generally round or egg-shaped second segment (pedicel) that bears a fine filamentous arista.

This photo was taken at The Dog Palace
about 24 + hours before Mama had her
first and only litter of puppies. And yes
Mr Rocky was one of the lucky puppies.
Also FYI, Mama has been spayed too ;-)
Today will be spent gathering and preparing
for another run out to the temple in the early
morning. Like in the very dark time of morning.
Travel time usually starts at 5AM or just before.
When I arrive at the temple all the animals are
full of mischief and real hungry. This is good ;-)
There will be extra special food packed just for
Mr Little Larry , Blondie and of course Miss Molly.
One kilo of carrots for Mr Ed is also on board plus
a new pack of special fish food for all the guppies.
And lets not forget all the usual stuff that finds it's
way onto the scooter and ends up out at the temple.
OK -
Soon as this is uploaded there's another job that must
take place real quick. Two funny dogs are bugging me
for a trip out to the mud field in the scooter sidecar ;-0~
Upon our return they get fed, see how that works out ?

:: THIS IS NOT AN HDR PHOTO :: I just put it in the HDR folder cause I can only choose from those 3 stock folders. This is just a panorama made from 3 image on a shutter speed of 2.5 seconds and an f8 aperture. Adjusted curves in photoshop and here it is. Luckily these guys stayed still while I was taking this panorama. Unfortunately it was raining and got a few drops on my lens causing some blurs on the right side :( oh well.

FYI, if you search official maps of Acadia you will find no reference to a place called 'Boulder Beach'. I even asked a park ranger, who said he'd been there 45 years and never heard of it. I went back to where we were staying and googled it, and sure enough it is not a myth. Instead, it is likely a name given by other photographers, rather than something official.
Anyway, this particular image was almost an afterthought. I had worked on some other compositions, and was cautiously maneuvering on those smooth round boulders, when I noticed the lone cloud catching the early light. I decided to give it a shot (pun intended). I had to shoot vertically to fit it in.
I am not in any near term danger. E. Ina Road is the southern boundary of the evacuation order. That's higher up, above the Catalina foothills. I am much further south in Tucson valley. When I get a chance, I will post another map.
The last time there was a fire in Pima canyon, the fire did work its way down the mountains that you see in my photos. It got about halfway down. I got a bit nervous, but it did not reach the valley.

FYI my body composition was 90% chardonnay when I took this. Stayed at Batman's Hills on Collins hotel in Melbourne. These mirrors were just in front as you came out of the elevator.
