The extensive red sandstone ruins of Furness Abbey are set in the beautiful wooded Vale of Nightshade. By the time of the dissolution of the monasteries in the 1530s, Furness was the second richest Cistercian abbey in England after Fountains. Before it became Cistercian, Furness belonged to the Savigniac order and today, remains of the earlier monastery can be seen among the later Cistercian remains.

Next door's cat who is very friendly with our own. He does so much like to lounge on the top of our worn out shed. We will get rid of it one day, but only when Will no longer needs it.

Male feral cat that we have been feeding for over a year.
This little pup was photographed a few years ago near the mouth of the Ohau stream on the Kaikoura coast.
Four weeks later the whole region was devastated by the massive 7.8 earthquake which totally destroyed the nearby seal colony.

Possibly with its mother in the non-breeding colony of Australasian Fur Seals, resting at the Sinclair Heads haul-out, near Wellington.

This is Megan (Meg) who I met on Saturday whilst sitting by Eyeworth Pond. Her brother is Dexter and you can see a photo of him and Meg below in the comments. They were really small and their owner reckoned there was some Chihuahua mixed in with the Jack Russell. They came from a rescue centre at 14 weeks old. A young couple had got them and been horrified to find their home 'trashed' when they got home from work after leaving two puppies on their own all day (what a surprise!?!?). Anyway this kind gent had taken them on and three years later they are well behaved lovely dogs. He was showing me how soft Meg was when he picked her up. She was loving all the attention
Not actually a fur ball but a bit of a nasty that was for sure, not sharing that image.... I'm sure the vision you have in your head now is worse :))))
My favourite tor so far the awesome "FUR TOR" (572m) in the centre of the northern part of the Dartmoor national park.It is a long tor and has several rock stacks. It was a fantastic hike getting here. We did however, take the shortest route and still it was 6 miles away on foot , not only that, there was difficult terrain for the last 2 1/2 miles as their was tough grasses & very soft peat hags. At the summit I was blown away with its isolation & bleakness of the surrounding landscape. All you could hear was the winds whisper & the skylarks song ! I fell in love with this tor, and will forever hold a special place in my heart ! A BIG thanks for looking!
