I just love this picture because it represents so well the richness of the Atlantic Rain Forest in a single branch... The marvelous Red-necked Tanager (female), the liquens, the fern, all so full of life... Unfortunately there is less than 5% of the original Atlantic Rain Forest and it is always under threat for numerous reasons. We must protect this delicate and fragile environment.
Have a nice Friday!
Thanks a lot for your visits, comments, faves, invites, etc. Very much appreciated!

It was a good day -
On a way to a State park, we learned of a huge accident on interstate so we had to take a detour of 3.5 hours instead of usual 1.5. But it was all worth it...wild flowers along countryside road were so beautiful so I had to stop and take it all in..

Yes, I do remember that day, the last holiday with French friends before Covid time, a picnic with them in a meadow of the Roussillon.
There I found this lovely wild succulent plant, I took a little branch of this for my balcony.
And now this is the first blooming at home!
I don't know its name, I add a picture in the comments for helping the ID.

St. John's wort ready for drying
My strongest memories are of my grandmother. In addition to bearing her name, I also have many of her qualities and her loves. From her I learned to love flowers and birds, to cook and make wonderful sweets. She taught me how to dry herbs. This is my favorite picture because whenever I look at it I can even feel the atmosphere and smell of that herb as she prepares it for drying. The light in the picture is exactly what I remember, a constant play of light and darkness, because her house was surrounded by large trees, so the sun was breaking through the branches. As a background, I used the door from her kitchen cupboard and the plate from her garden table. Yes, I loved her very much and I miss her very much but I am happy that she knew I loved her.
HSoS!
Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is « full of memories ».
When I was about 9 years old, we moved from Poland to Algeria. My Dad was working there. As a little girl I missed my grandmother very, very much. Back then there was no internet and even telephone wasn’t a very efficient way of keeping contact between Poland and Algeria. So , for several weeks I was saving my lunch money to buy a gift for my grandmother. I got her this tiny necklace. I went to this flea market and I bargained with the seller until we both reach an acceptable price. And the necklace was mine.It is called « hamsa » (it means five) and it is a very, very popular amulet in Middle East. Hamsa is supposed to bring you good fortune and protect the bearer from the « evil eye ». It was a perfect gift for my grandmother, so far away from me… This amulet was supposed to protect her from anything bad. And it did !! My grandmother was always wearing this necklace. For years. The last time I saw her, she had her necklace with her. She told me that the necklace was reminding her of me and our family so far away but so close in her heart…. The necklace traveled with her, through Europe, Russia and almost to Japan. When she died, peacefully in her sleep wearing her necklace near her heart, she was at peace. At one point, I got my necklace back. It went from Algeria to Poland, from Poland all around the glob and then back to Montreal, Canada. Since then, I always keep it with me… I truly believe it will protect me from anything bad…and each time I touch it, it brings an amazing amount of very good memories.
And if you want to know more about « hamsa », here is the link : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamsa
Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! Have a beautiful day and see you later!!

Today's Smile on Saturday theme is full of memories. A very interesting theme, but hard for me. I have so many wonderful memories. Many of them revolve around our boat and the family and friends who joined us cruising. But even limiting myself to boating photos, there were so many truly awesome places that we visited, I couldn't chose one. So I chose this one - an everyday type of place and scene. Put it in mono since it's a memory now, as is our boat, which we sold in early 2020.
these are pebbles and things I found at the beach and painted. they are on my kitchen table, so I can relive my happy memories every day.
