"The world lies in shrouded darkness.

The winds die...

The seas rage...

The earth decays...

But the people believe in a prophecy, patiently waiting for its fulfillment.

'When darkness veils the world, four Warriors of Light shall come.'

After a long journey four young warriors did at last appear...

...and in the hand each was holding a crystal.

Everything is in our mind and we can control it. Being able to separate our thoughts from our sense of self is one of the most useful things we can do. Our mind is just a tool for us to use. Negative/inapropriate thoughts are a normal part of human functioning. Happiness doesn’t depend on how few negative/inapropriate thoughts we may have, but on what we do with the ones we have. Always remember: we have choices ;-)

Octavio is a cat I met in Madrid who liked to quote Rilke. I was just getting to know him when he started reciting:

"Lord: it is time. The huge summer has gone by.

Now overlap the sundials with your shadows,

and on the meadows let the wind go free.

Command the fruits to swell on tree and vine;

grant them a few more warm transparent days,

urge them on to fulfillment then, and press

the final sweetness into the heavy wine.

Whoever has no house now, will never have one.

Whoever is alone will stay alone,

will sit, read, write long letters through the

evening,

and wander the boulevards, up and down,

restlessly, while the dry leaves are blowing."

Amritsar (India) -If the Golden Temple is the subject of great devotion on the part of the Shiks, it is also frequented by Muslims and Hindus.

In addition to the sacred poems recited and sung as prayers, in the heart of the temple, the Basin of Nectar which surrounds it, also has a spiritual significance. Men and women come to bathe there to purify themselves. The waters are said to have healing properties and promote the fulfillment of wishes. This purifying bath is one of the few rites observed by Sikhs.

I have termed the ocean to be angry with conditions like this in the past. This weekend thou I felt the better adjective was alive. There were commitments to be made to enjoy and photograph the conditions this weekend and I'm so grateful that they paid off. When I say paid off it's more in the sense of fulfillment of the soul rather then getting the shot. The photos are bonus for sure but the experience is more desirable. There are times when you need an attitude adjustment and this weekend was the perfect medicine.

"I love not man the less, but Nature more."

.

- This quote, from Lord Byron, highlights a preference for nature's company, suggesting a sense of peace and fulfillment found in solitude amidst natural surroundings.

"Happiness is an emotional state characterized by feelings of joy, satisfaction, contentment, and fulfillment. While happiness has many different definitions, it is often described as involving positive emotions and life satisfaction. ... Happiness is generally linked to experiencing more positive feelings than negative"

Events and changes are already planned for this year, I hope many of these will come with joy and fulfillment.

For those events who will come without planning, I hope for having the power to accept them. Maybe I'll have the luck to enjoy some of it.

But there is one thing I will do this year, something unusual for me so far (and I am not referring only to the last years of the last decades).

I will give myself time.

And, because I am one who is very embarrassed if it does not keep his word, I will start today the project "366 days of photos in 2020".

High heart and fingers crossed :)

Everyone seems to wonder how Explore works, and how some images get "Explored" and others don't. I think I may have finally solved that mystery! My previous two posts have made Explore, so if this one does, it will confirm what I suspected.

Update: Well, this one made Explore, too! I have uncovered a well guarded Flickr secret.

The secret is......include the word "booger" in the title.

“Once the soul awakens, the search begins and you can never go back. From then on, you are inflamed with a special longing that will never again let you linger in the lowlands of complacency and partial fulfillment. The eternal makes you urgent. You are loath to let compromise or the threat of danger hold you back from striving toward the summit of fulfillment.”

Shugendo(u) (俼鹓道) is an amalgam of Shinto(u), Buddhism, and animistic folk beliefs. There are shrines and altars here and there in the cave.

The shrine in the photo is called Juuni-yakushi (捁äșŒè–Źćž«). Yakushi (è–Źćž«ćŠ‚æ„, BhaiáčŁajyaguru) is one of the Buddhas of Mahayana Buddhism, but it seems to be incorporated into Shugendou.

Coins pasted on the rock are offerings to the deity, which is probably a magical practice for good luck or wish fulfillment. I don't know why the coins stick to the rock.

There is a report that a huge amount of old coins were recovered during a scientific survey of the cave. Academics argue that coins were perceived as magic items for religious practices rather than money for economic activities.

"The Indians marked the midsummer as the season when berries were ripe. We are a little saddened, because we begin to see the interval between our hopes and their fulfillment. The prospect of the heavens is taken away, and we are presented with a few small berries. "

- - Thoreau's Journal, June, 1856

Life and love are the most precious gifts that we have been given, and they are both beautiful in their own unique way. Life is a journey that we embark upon with great anticipation, full of twists and turns that challenge us to be the best versions of ourselves. It is a canvas upon which we can paint our dreams, aspirations, and desires, creating a tapestry that reflects the beauty of our innermost being.

Love, on the other hand, is the heartbeat of life. It is the magical force that binds us together and fills our souls with warmth, tenderness, and compassion. It is the ultimate expression of our humanity, a powerful force that transcends all boundaries and unites us in a shared experience of joy and fulfillment.

When we embrace the beauty of life and love, we tap into a wellspring of motivation and inspiration that propels us forward towards our goals and dreams. We are reminded of the infinite possibilities that exist within us, and we are empowered to seize each moment with grace, courage, and conviction.

So let us celebrate the beauty of life and love with joy and gratitude, for they are the very essence of our existence. Let us cultivate a spirit of positivity and optimism, knowing that the future is bright and filled with promise.

And let us never forget that the beauty of life and love is a gift that we must cherish and nurture with all our hearts.

In a time were only profit matters, very little is known about fulfillment and happiness. That is why during this time Interstellar bounty hunters thrive. They are always seeking, always fighting, always striving for both illusive prizes.

But the prize usually lies in the simple things.

ReferĂȘncia-Serra do AçÎr-Portugal

The Santa Luzia Dam is located in the Central Region of Portugal, in the municipality of Pampilhosa da Serra, parish of Fajão-Vidual, next to the town of Casal da Lapa. It was designed by André Coyne and built on the bed of the Unhais River in a narrow quartzite gorge and is used for hydroelectricity. It was inaugurated in 1942, having taken eleven years to build. Construction began in 1931 and in 1934 the dam began to be lifted, which ended in March 1935. It is 76 meters high and has a crown length of 115 meters.

The Santa Luzia watershed has an area of 50 km2 and also receives water from the Alto Ceira Dam, channeled through a 6,945-meter long diversion tunnel. Work on the dam ended in 1942 with the closing of the floodgates in November of that year by Companhia ElĂ©ctrica das Beiras. The hydroelectric power station is built in the town of Esteiro, 3.5 kilometers from the dam, and has 4 generator sets with a total power of 24 MW, producing 55 GW-h in a normal year. .[1][2] The hydroelectric plant has the particularity of discharging the turbined water directly into the ZĂȘzere River. Bottom discharge and emergency discharge remain in the Unhais River.

The name of the dam comes from the Ermida de Santa Luzia, a chapel on the cliffs adjacent to the dam, on the edge of the parishes of Vidual and Cabril. This chapel was built in 1930, on the initiative of Francisco Pedro SimÔes, a native of Malhada do Rei, in fulfillment of a promise.

Some people seek spiritual solace in the sacred structures of their chosen faith. For me, I find that same fulfillment in art galleries. In these buildings I spend time with the creative masters, sitting for hours and drinking them in. Listening to their hues, and basking in their stories.
