Die meisten Besucher kommen zum 236 m hohen Mandalay Hill, um von der Terrasse der Wunscherfüllungspagode den Sonnenuntergang zu genießen. Von hier oben hat man einen atemberaubenden Blick auf die Stadt mit ihren vielen Klöstern, den Fluss Ayeyarwady, der die Lebensader des Landes ist, sowie in der Ferne die Shan Berge.

die 1700 Stufen vom Südeingang des Berges hinaufzulaufen. Vorbei geht’s an Souvenirläden und Essenständen. Auf halber Höhe erreicht man eine große goldene Buddhafigur, die mit ausgestrecktem Arm auf die Stadt Mandalay zeigt. Der Legende nach sagte Buddha, dass am Fuße dieses Berges, im Jahr 2400 des buddhistischen Kalenders, hier eine große Stadt entstehen werde. Most visitors come to the 236 m high Mandalay Hill to enjoy the sunset from the terrace of the Wish Fulfillment Pagoda. From up here you have a breathtaking view of the city with its many monasteries, the Ayeyarwady River, which is the country's lifeline, and the Shan Mountains in the distance.
Many tourists are driven up the mountain. However, it is nicer to walk up the 1700 steps from the south entrance of the mountain. We pass souvenir shops and food stands. Halfway up there is a large golden Buddha figure, pointing at the city of Mandalay with an outstretched arm. According to legend, Buddha said that at the foot of this mountain, in the year 2400 of the Buddhist calendar, a great city would arise here. For this reason, in 1857, King Mingon moved the royal city of Amarapura here to the foot of the mountain. Again and again you come across sacrificial sites and Buddha figures when climbing the mountain.
The pagoda at the top is an architectural feat. It consists of many small open rooms, which are separated from each other by large round arches. The walls are covered all over with glass and mirror mosaics. A special atmosphere is created when the red, setting sun is reflected in the mosaics.
Wishes are dreams and hopes, desires and longings.
Wishes are deep inside you and whisper for fulfillment.
Wishes can be huge or very small.
Wishes can be for yourself or for someone else.
We collect wishes throughout the year.
As the year draws to a close, many wishes go unfulfilled.
But on this one night, at the turn of the year, we wish for the one, the most important wish that has meaning.

Last week’s shot represented the First Noble Truth of Suffering, where we recognise that our lives aren’t perfect and that throughout our existence, we experience quite a bit of dissatisfaction. From our birth to our inevitable death, like butterflies we hop endlessly from one flower to another looking for fulfillment, but fail to find it.
But why? We do we suffer in this way?
The Second Noble Truth, the Truth of Origin provides a one word answer to the question: ‘ignorance’.
This isn’t ignorance in terms of not being good at mathematics or not knowing how to bake a cake; rather we are blinded by an ignorance of the way phenomena exist in reality.
In our daily lives, we see things as so permanent and solid. Because of this we work so hard to obtain the latest gadgets, the most beautiful partner and as much wealth as we can. Let’s take me and my partner as an example. Oh, how I love him! Not only that but I feel like it’ll last forever, and I want it to as well. But in reality the feelings I have for him (or vice versa!) might change. Lovers change. Friends become enemies. Nothing is permanent, and everything is in a constant state of flux. But we don’t realise this, and when the relationship ends, or the iPad breaks, the tears roll.
We also don't understand how phenomena arise, which is through dependent origination And yet there is no phenomenon in existence that is not the result of dependent origination – that all results must have a cause. We continue to see things as extremely concrete and independent, which causes attachment and aversion to arise. Take a nice camera. I don’t just see a nice camera, I see a beautiful, independent, permanent, concrete, expensive camera. Oh, and it’ll make me happy too! Or someone who offends me. UGH! Instead of just a person, I see an evil, horrible, mean eternal archenemy out to get me.
But things aren’t like that, they aren’t concrete or permanent. Your worst enemy becomes a best friend. Countries at war become countries helping each other through economic turmoil. Nice cameras become old, useless, rusty cameras.
Without an understanding of impermanence and dependent origination, our deluded minds react to experiences verbally, physically and mentally in thirsty ( ‘thirst’ or ‘tanha’ in Pali) ways – where we crave for something, where we crave for more, and where we crave for less. The suffering is not the beautiful thing itself, it's our craving to it.
As long as this deluded mind is present, there is no escape from this cycle.

As 2022 is slowly fading, I choose not to look back and I also choose not to look forward. I've decided to look straight at you, 2023 and welcome you face to face, ready to take on whatever you will throw my way. I welcome all of it. Allow me to harness all of the powerful energy from this Universe and by the Grace of God, I will see you through, 2023.
I'm grateful for everything that I have accomplished and learned from you, 2022, and I'm ready to let you go.

(Outre terre - La quête sans fin)
Ici, en Outre Terre (Outland), les très rares visiteurs n’ont aucune certitude.
Sauf, peut-être, que les réponses à la quête qui les attirés ici, se cachent dans la magie des ombres et des lumières mystérieuses de cette terre aride, où toute vie est infiniment modeste et précaire. C’est un monde minimaliste, « essentialiste » qui vous renvoie à vous-même, comme un miroir.
Les visiteurs qui s’y aventurent sont des esprits libres, engagés dans une quête de connaissance, de sens et d’accomplissement sans fin. Une quête où chaque réponse engendre de nouvelles interrogations. Une quête qui ne satisfait pas des « prêts à penser » auxquels adhère la foule.
Rares sont ceux qui repartent d’Outre Terre (Outland) en ayant trouvé quelque chose à apporter. Mais chacun quitte cette terre en ayant l’impression d’être devenu, un peu plus, la personne qu’il voulait être.

Outland - The Endless Quest
Here, in Outland, the very few visitors have no certainty.
Except, perhaps, that the answers to the quest that draw them here, hide in the magic of the shadows and mysterious lights of this arid land, where all life is infinitely modest and precarious. It's a minimalist, "essentialist" world that sends you back to yourself as a mirror.
Visitors who venture into it are free spirits, engaged in a quest for knowledge, meaning and endless fulfillment. A quest where each answer generates new questions. A quest that does not satisfy the "ready to think » to which the crowd adheres.
Few people leave Outland having found something to bring. But everyone leaves this land having the impression of having become, a little more, the person he wanted to be.

Die meisten Besucher kommen zum 236 m hohen Mandalay Hill, um von der Terrasse der Wunscherfüllungspagode den Sonnenuntergang zu genießen. Von hier oben hat man einen atemberaubenden Blick auf die Stadt mit ihren vielen Klöstern, den Fluss Ayeyarwady, der die Lebensader des Landes ist, sowie in der Ferne die Shan Berge.

die 1700 Stufen vom Südeingang des Berges hinaufzulaufen. Vorbei geht’s an Souvenirläden und Essenständen. Auf halber Höhe erreicht man eine große goldene Buddhafigur, die mit ausgestrecktem Arm auf die Stadt Mandalay zeigt. Der Legende nach sagte Buddha, dass am Fuße dieses Berges, im Jahr 2400 des buddhistischen Kalenders, hier eine große Stadt entstehen werde. König Mingon verlegte aus diesem Grunde im Jahr 1857 die Königsstadt von Amarapura hier an den Fuß des Berges. Immer wieder kommt man bei der Besteigung des Berges an Opferstellen und Buddhafiguren vorbei.
Die Pagode auf dem Gipfel ist eine architektonische Meisterleistung. Sie besteht aus vielen kleinen offenen Räumen, die durch große Rundbögen voneinander getrennt sind. Die Wände sind über und über mit Glas- und Spiegelmosaiken bedeckt. Eine besondere Stimmung entsteht, wenn sich die rote, untergehende Sonne in den Mosaiken spiegelt.

Most visitors come to the 236 m high Mandalay Hill to enjoy the sunset from the terrace of the Wish Fulfillment Pagoda. From up here you have a breathtaking view of the city with its many monasteries, the Ayeyarwady River, which is the country's lifeline, and the Shan Mountains in the distance.
Many tourists are driven up the mountain. However, it is nicer to walk up the 1700 steps from the south entrance of the mountain. We pass souvenir shops and food stands. Halfway up there is a large golden Buddha figure, pointing at the city of Mandalay with an outstretched arm. According to legend, Buddha said that at the foot of this mountain, in the year 2400 of the Buddhist calendar, a great city would arise here. For this reason, in 1857, King Mingon moved the royal city of Amarapura here to the foot of the mountain. Again and again you come across sacrificial sites and Buddha figures when climbing the mountain.
The pagoda at the top is an architectural feat. It consists of many small open rooms, which are separated from each other by large round arches. The walls are covered all over with glass and mirror mosaics. A special atmosphere is created when the red, setting sun is reflected in the mosaics.
The kitchen is the place where desire and fulfillment meet.

So, I went to Kifune Shrine to see the Kyoto winter.
Here, there were a lot of people even in winter in a place which is famous for romantic fulfillment.

Christmas is the celebration of community, the celebration of family, the celebration of love. At least it is for me. And even if I don't need a special day of the year for empathy, mindfulness and appreciation, these days still have a special, strengthening effect on me.
It's the time when I reflect on what's really important. A time when the "I" steps back to let the "we" take precedence.
Basically, we all belong together. As different as we may be, we are the same in the same moment. We all (and by that I really mean ALL) strive for the fulfillment of the same basic needs. The realization of our own ideals, the recognition and appreciation of our environment, as well as stability and security. These are the lowest common denominators of all human beings, and are enough to at least understand anyone whose strategies for meeting those needs may differ (sometimes radically) from ours.
Talking to each other, speaking clearly and really listening are the only way in this case.
With this in mind, I wish you all a merry Christmas filled with love and harmony both in your environment and within yourself.
Weihnachten ist das Fest der Gemeinschaft, das Fest der Familie, das Fest der Liebe Zumindest ist es das für mich. Und auch wenn ich für Empathy, Achtsamkeit und Wertschätzung keinen beonderen Tag im Jahr benötige, so haben diese Tage trotzdem nocheinmal ein besondere, verstärkende Wirkung auf mich.
Es ist der Zeitpunkt, wo ich mich besinne, was wirklich wichtig ist. Eine Zeit in der das "Ich" zurück tritt um dem "Wir" den Vorrang zu lassen.
Im Grunde gehören wir doch alle zusammen. So unterschiedlich wir auch sein mögen, so gleich sind wir im selben Moment. Wir alle (und damit meine ich wirklich ALLE) streben nach Erfüllung der selben Grundbedürfnisse. Die Verwirklichung unseres eigenen Ideale, Die Anerkennung und Wertschätzung unseres Umfeldes, sowie Stabilität und Sicherheit. Das sind die kleinsten gemeinsamen Nenner aller Menschen und es sind genug um jeden zumindest zu Verstehen, dessen Strategien zur Erfüllung dieser Bedürfnisse sich möglicherweise von unseren unterscheiden (manchmal auch grundlegend).
Mit einander zu reden sich klar zu äußern und wirklich zuzuhören sind in diesem Fall der einzige Weg.
In diesem Sinne wünsche ich Euch allen ein besinnliches Weihnachtsfest erfüllt von Liebe und Harmonie sowohl in Eurem Umfeld als auch in Euch selbst.
