This was not one of the Freedom Schools of the 1960s. Rather, this building was a hotel and cafe, and the proprietor home-schooled her children, as well as some other local children, here. Supposedly the school operated until 2002.

Back in the early 80's, I spent 3 days in St. Augustine, having a mini vacation. One of the things I did was take the sightseeing river tour on an old vessel that had been floating along that same river since the 1930's! It was one of the most enjoyable things I did, as you could not only see all of the sights from the water, but you could experience both sides of the river, which brought us by a place that was lined with cedar trees and the air was so fresh and clean that I wish I could have bottled it!
Apparently, the original boat is gone now, but the tours still go on most every day. This is the Freedom 111, and it seemed to move a little faster than the old vessel I went on all those years ago, or maybe I'm just a little slower now.
The finest human sense is the sense of freedom....it is a confluent flow of conscience and aspiration....and, just that feeling filled my heart when I saw this street art.
The seaside town of Valparaiso is an amazing store of street art. While graffiti is illegal in the rest of the country, it is legal in Valparaiso and Chilean artists, musicians and writers have made the bohemian city their home for years, as evident on almost every street mural, rare 3D wall art and multicoloured houses. They’ve changed the city dramatically, with many international street artists now being invited (and paid) to live and/or work in Chile to contribute to this vibrant city.
I've never come across such an amazing treasure of street artworks where one can learn about the unique techniques as well as the political and historic meaning behind such artworks.

This creation will be my final entry in our EEA MOC challenge on the French Brickpirate forum. I hope you enjoy the show done with my partners and oponents, this was a great battle.
It has a special story behind it because it was one of the ideas we wanted to build during our time at Legomasters France, but we didn’t get the challenge that would have allowed us to do so.
This build is based on an illustration by Loïc Malnati, a brilliant illustrator and tattoo artist whose work I greatly admire.
Built for the “Équipage à l'abordage” collaborative contest on the french forum Brickpirate, for the theme "Freedom".
