A house martin (Delichon urbicum), Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire, UK. As it was flying over sand dunes, I thought it was perhaps a Sand Martin, but a bit of research told me otherwise!

Daily Dog Challenge: Freedom ... of the track

This was not one of the Freedom Schools of the 1960s. Rather, this building was a hotel and cafe, and the proprietor home-schooled her children, as well as some other local children, here. Supposedly the school operated until 2002.

Freedom on the Run

The finest human sense is the sense of freedom....it is a confluent flow of conscience and aspiration....and, just that feeling filled my heart when I saw this street art.

The seaside town of Valparaiso is an amazing store of street art. While graffiti is illegal in the rest of the country, it is legal in Valparaiso and Chilean artists, musicians and writers have made the bohemian city their home for years, as evident on almost every street mural, rare 3D wall art and multicoloured houses. They’ve changed the city dramatically, with many international street artists now being invited (and paid) to live and/or work in Chile to contribute to this vibrant city.

I've never come across such an amazing treasure of street artworks where one can learn about the unique techniques as well as the political and historic meaning behind such artworks.

There have been a number of discussions here recently (see my latest post for lack of something more exciting to do on a Friday night) regarding a creative freedom to post that which we like, including experimenting with different genres, rather than that which we think others might like. I believe that there is a certain linkage between that and self-acceptance, which frees us to live in our own light rather than in that of others.

It seems that when people start to accept themselves for who they are, they begin to have a freedom to make their own choices and stop pleasing others. It is kind of us to think about the needs of other people, but there comes a time when one needs to put themselves first. Not a natural thing to some, but liberating nevertheless.

The largest fireworks display in the Midwest blasted off in Columbus during the blue hour. That cast a nice soft light over a lone island on the river which turned into a party of kayakers.
