This word is not one widely used in our culture anymore. It is seen as a position of weakness. We are told to either excuse things or hold grudges. Forgiveness is neither of those things. Forgiveness does not excuse the wrong done as if it never happened. Forgiveness does not hold a grudge against the wrongdoer. Forgiveness came at a cost. In order for our sins to be forgiven, they had to be paid for. There was still a consequence to the action. Our wrong does have consequences. Christ died so that we would be forgiven. He did not die so that we would be excused. Our sin cost Him His own life. Let that sink in for a minute. It cost the innocent Son of God His own life. A price had to be paid. This is where many of us become uncomfortable. We deserved the penalty He bore. We deserved death and the full wrath of God, but instead out of His crazy love for us, He took it upon Himself. For us to forgive someone is not for us to excuse them. The wrong is acknowledged as wrong. Forgiveness is to not hold the wrong against them not to state that they did not do the wrong. Because we are forgiven in Christ (for those who follow Him and believe who He says He is), we are not receiving what we deserved as punishment.
This is the old Coventry Cathedral which was bombed on 14 November 1940.
Shortly after the destruction, the Cathedral stonemason, Jock Forbes, noticed that two of the charred medieval roof timbers had fallen in the shape of a cross. He set them up in the ruins where they were later placed on an altar of rubble with the moving words ‘Father Forgive’ inscribed on the Sanctuary wall. Another cross was fashioned from three medieval nails by local priest, the Revd Arthur Wales. The Cross of Nails has become the symbol of Coventry’s ministry of reconciliation.
Being from Coventry we were taught all about it's history in school. I am a non-believer but always found this very poignant
This was meant for Sunday, but I hit my limit on the free account earlier in the month. So, here it is now.

Advent
(A Poem based on Rev. 22:20)
I am. I was. I will be.
I am not coming soon I am here.
I was born on a cold night in a cold place
Unnoticed, unheralded by cold people
Who turned my mother away.
On that night were you listening?
On that night the "least of your brothers" was me.
Now do you see, do you hear and do you care?
I am not coming soon I am here.
In your life do you see me
In the ragged men and women
Who search the cold street
Looking for my reflection in your heart?
Do you hear my voice in
Their muttered plea or in their tear?
I am not coming soon I am here.
Do you hear me when your friend turns to you
To ask forgiveness and trust?
Do I not forgive you always?
Do I not give you a merciful ear?
I am not coming soon I am here.
In this season I was born unto you
Fulfilling the promise of God’s care.
Look for me, listen to me…
I am not coming soon I am here.

Forgiveness is an act of the will, and the will can function regardless of the temperature of the heart.

Thank you Mr Robb for the lovely snap!
The time has come: FORGIVENESS
I'm learning to live without you now
But I miss you sometimes
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I knew, I'm learning again
I've been trying to get down to the Heart of the Matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don't love me anymore
Roses are an expression of love, forgiveness, friendship, desire or celebration.
At one time, I gave someone special a rose every week for five years and reminded her how special it was to be with her. That was in a different chapter of my life but I still embrace the moment as if it was yesterday.
Never stop telling your significant other how much you love them. One day you may not have that opportunity and you will wish you had.
Thank you to all who remember me and have chosen not to forget. We remain immortalized until we are no longer remembered.
Greeting to those who comment, fav and most of all, whisper my name.

There were the terrible memories with all the open wounds of the soul that no one could heal.
Wounds that were deeper than the ones that weakened our bodies.....

All those signs I have now
on my body, and everything,
they are ways to remind me
only those stories I
cannot forget.
Nevertheless I am
a mosaic of reflections
in their eyes on sunny
past tense days.
Too many times
people fall
in a meaningless silence
'til they talk
the language of fear
or tears
or indifference.
I'm not afraid anymore,
but silent otherwise.
My tears filled a pool
made as a cage
for water.
It's a safe place,
so steady.
I've seen blindness
on its surface.
Silent truths.
Never meant to.
No words.
I won't get lost, not anymore.

RESURRECTION SUNDAY
Holy Cross Serbian Orthodox Church, Lenah Valley, Tasmania.
Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead. Then the disciples went back to their homes.
Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene
But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her.
Jesus Appears to the Disciples
On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”
Jesus and Thomas
Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”
Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
(John's Gospel 20:1-28).
The rapid spread of the Christian faith from that morning on the first day of the week after the Passover, must be attributed to the fact that something powerful happened in the lives of the followers of Jesus. The Gospel accounts in the New Testament state clearly that in the 40 days after the event recorded here in John chapter 20, Jesus met several times with his disciples and urged them to, "Go into all the world and make disciples."
The so-called doubting Thomas of this account, travelled further and wider than any of the other disciples. The church in South India is attributed by strong tradition to the arrival of St Thomas in the first decades after the ministry of Jesus had ended on earth. "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." Within a few decades the fledgling Christian church had been established throughout the Roman empire, and within a few centuries it had spread to China in the east and Ireland in the west.
Despite persecution, wherever they went, the earliest Christians preached a gospel of the Risen Lord. Something clearly had happened to convince these once fearful disciples, who hid themselves away after the crucifixion, that an event of cosmic significance had taken place which would transform the world.
"Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Forgiveness is a virtue not many understand and even less possess. A relationship filled with love and only love, will not last. More than anything lasting relationship are filled with forgiveness. Don't be with someone whom you can only love, be with someone whom you can love and forgive... and vice versa.

" Sincere forgiveness isn't colored with expectations that the other person apologize or change. Don't worry whether or not they finally understand you. Love them and release them. Life feeds back truth to people in its own way and time "
I had an argument with an important person for me some months ago and I sometimes wonder if it's better to keep ignoring eachoter or just forgive (but never forget)
You are not ruined
Forever
Or ever so
Slightly
Your mistakes
Never become
Scars
Or words branded
With permanence
You are love
So am I
Which makes us
All
Forever
Forgiven

“What if each time you experienced an emotion, you acknowledged it, accepted it, and became curious about its message for you (instead of trying to make it go away or make it last longer)? Imagine how this could change your life. Imagine how heard, loved, and honoured you would feel if you really listened to yourself.”

For way too many years, this father and son were estranged. One phone call saying "I need to see you, I'm dying" and long held grudges are forgiven, old hurts healed, and love expressed. What once was broken is fixed. The years in between are sadly lost but in the end, these last few days were much more important.

This is the time of the year for forgiveness
With my ability to forgive, and I am a forgiving person... according to our religion, we should forgive..( and ask for forgiveness this time of year ). My life taught me sometimes also if you did not do a thing to hurt a soul, (not particularly your soul) you should forgive yourself, for the pain that someone else created.. To forgive yourself that you let it happen... even if it was not your fault. (past life). And continue with life without forgiving that person who did "the mistake of his/her life".
Letting people into my private life, arranging collective spying, and spreading all kinds of stories and news, orders.. about me and my family, is harmful to all my family, destroying also family connections with this invasion into our private life.. and interference with some friends. This last issue is not forgivable.
God will forgive me, Nira, for being too good.
Thanks for visiting and supporting my way on the internet especially, that connected to my real life..Gmar Chatime Tova.
