Early morning shot of this female Northern Harrier on the hunt for it's breakfast. It was hard to grab focus. Love watching these birds hunt. Central Bucks PA.

Thanks for all your good wishes. Operation successful and I'm now living in a new wonderfully coloured world. Here's hoping it has a positive impact on my photography 😂😂

For one moment…

However brief in time…

You were there…

On the horizon…

One connection…

Between the sky and sea…

There you were…

A vision…

I set my sights on…

For no distance was too long…

To reach my destination…

Beacon of light…

And though it seemed so vast to me…

The sea…the sky all around…

You were there…

On the horizon…

One glimmer of hope…

For one moment…

However brief in time…

Within grasp…

Within reach…

And within one moment…

I glanced the other way…

To find that in an instant…

You were gone…

When you're feeling lost in the night

When you feel your world just ain't right

Call on me, I will be waiting

Count on me, I will be there

Anytime the times get too tough

Anytime your best ain't enough

I'll be the one to make it better

I'll be there to protect you

See you through

I'll be there and there ain't nothing

I won't do

I will cross the ocean for you

I will go and bring you the moon

I will be your hero, your strength

Anything you need

I will be the sun in your sky

I will light your way for all time

I promise you

For you I will

I will shield your heart from the rain

I will let no harm come your way

Oh, these arms will be your shelter

No, these arms won't let you down

If there is a mountain to move

I will move that mountain for you

I'm here for you, I'm here forever

I will be your fortress

Tall and strong

I'll keep you safe, I'll stand beside you

Right or wrong

For Sliders Sunday, I made a composite image from two of my own images one of which is an ICM taken in camera at evening hour. There was some editing post blending. It now shows a truly gusty day!

In memory of Christopher, son of our friends Robin & Jean. Christopher suddenly passed away recently at the age of 42. He is leaving such a hole in his family's heart and lives. Ken & I are sending out hugs to them all, sending out energies into the universe, and hoping that our daughter, Jamie, was there to give Christopher a hug and tell him how our families are linked across the miles, and through Flickr. How sorry we are for his passing.

Please, if you can, light a candle for Christopher. He will be missed SO very much.

Straw-necked Ibis

Scientific Name: Threskiornis spinicollis

Description: The Straw-necked Ibis is a large waterbird with a naked black head, long downcurved black bill and yellow throat plumes. It has a glossy blue-black back, with metallic purple, green and bronze sheen, a white nape and sides of neck and white underparts. Its preference for grassland insects such as grasshoppers and locusts have earnt it the name of Farmer's Friend.

Similar species: The strawlike neck feathers distinguish the Straw-necked Ibis from other ibises. When flying, it has a white body and black wings, while the Australian White Ibishas a black head with white body and wings.

Distribution: The Straw-necked Ibis is found across mainland Australia. It is vagrant to Tasmania and is also found in Indonesia, New Guinea, Norfolk Island and Lord Howe Island.

Habitat: The Straw-necked Ibis prefers wet and dry grasslands, pastures, croplands and swamp or lagoon margins. It is rarely found on coastal shores, mudflats or mangroves and is generally less adaptable than the Australian White Ibis.

Seasonal movements: Highly nomadic, moving in search of suitable habitat.

Feeding: The Straw-necked Ibis feeds mainly on terrestrial invertebrates, especially grasshoppers and locusts. It will also take frogs, small reptiles and mammals. It forages by probing or takes prey from the surface of water bodies. It is rarely an opportunistic scavenger, unlike the Australian White Ibis. The Straw-necked Ibis has been called the Farmer's Friend, because it eats crop pests such as grasshoppers and locusts.

Breeding: The Straw-necked Ibis forms large breeding colonies, often with Australian White Ibises. The low nests are large trampled platforms of reeds, rushes and sticks over water, often blending together to form one continuous platform, and are re-used over many years. Both sexes build nests, incubate eggs and feed the young.

Calls: Silent away from nest; grunts or croaks at nest and hoarse rolling calls in flight: 'u-u-uh'.

Minimum Size: 59cm

Maximum Size: 76cm

Average size: 68cm

Breeding season: August to January in south; February to May in north

Clutch Size: Two to five, usually two to three.

Incubation: 25 days

Nestling Period: 35 days

A low-flying Northern Harrier scanning the ground for activity. I was walking in the pomegranate orchard near the YWAM base where my wife and I are volunteering. I had my camera, but I was climbing a steep section where I wasn't expecting much bird activity. Imagine my excitement when I saw this guy just beyond the fence in the adjacent field. HWW

For once, the weather didn't play along and getting up early wasn't quite worth it. But "my Solitaire" still showed itself in a beautiful light.

Für einmal spielte das Wetter nicht mit und das frühe Aufstehen hatte sich für einmal nicht ganz gelohnt. "Mein Solitär" zeigte sich dann aber doch noch in einem schönen Licht.

Thanks for your selfless help and good advice 🙋‍♂️

From photo shoot for Orina's new album. Usually I'm avoiding to upload several images from the same shoot in a row, even several images with the same model (maybe I'm wrong here, what do you think?), but my friend Orina releasing new music and I'm trying to help. Besides, all session turned up very different.

‘The Bends’. Have you ever stopped to wonder about a bend in the road? Early man (or animal) ambled along until an obstacle came his way - he ponders a while then decides the best option and goes left or right until the next obstacle - and goes through the same thought process again! And every man since then has followed suit trusting his forebears intuition. Hitherto the ploughman must do the same and will continue so for the edge of his field is down the same well trodden path!

366 - I’ve decided to do this to force me to pick up a camera other than when we are away on our travels (they will be posted as normal) - I will be interested to see what transpires, they will be varied I’m sure so we’ll see where inspiration takes me over the course of the year, hopefully at the end of it I will be a better photographer. Feel free to critique as you see fit, but please don’t feel obliged, I anticipate they will not be to all tastes. Have a great year and if you also have embarked on a 365 project then good luck in seeing it through, Alan:-)
