For Macro Mondays theme "Crinkled, Wrinkled, Folded or Creased", this is a small sheet of aluminum foil creased in the middle, with a few wrinkles in the surrounding area thrown in. Width of the image is 1.1 inches.

Yesterday evening, right before sunset, I went out onto my back deck to do my nightly icicles-in-the-sunset photo shoot. I was disappointed..and pretty sad..to see my icicles were gone. Remembering how yesterday was a fluke warm day...40° (a huge increase from the single digit days and sub zero nights we've had) and how all day long I heard drip drip drip as snow and ice melted...I realized how my icicles met their demise.

Searching for some remains, I did find the very top portion that was left behind from a couple small icicles. From melting all through the day, and then re-freezing, i was pretty excited to find the design left behind was like the texture of foil, and that the golden tones from the setting sun increased the metallic look.

Could it be possible that I have won this battle??? everyday one of them tries again and you can see the result... as soon as he or she adds his weight, the ports close up tight. It's really funny to watch them shaking it in frustration before dropping to the ground. Is it mean of me to laugh at their plight? I think not!!!

This was my photo for the day until I got the moon photo. See link.

Stuck at home as usual and no inspiration or mojo to do very much at all. Let alone find my photo for today.

Just about managed a half effort this afternoon at around teatime. Silver foil in macro. Nothing exciting, but better than finding I'm out of my own group. I did add a bit of colour and highlights once I'd uploaded this, but not a lot.

Have changed my photo for the day - see here : www.flickr.com/photos/44506883@N04/51047042631/in/photost...

The plan was good but there was a few variables that we hadn't accounted for.

Happy Macro Monday everyone :)

With a B40-8 from host railroad Nashville & Eastern on the point, a Tennessee Central Railway Museum excursion heads east through Mt. Juliet, TN on March 25, 2023. The museum has an operational L&N GP7 which can be used to make an A-B-B-A consist of 1950s vintage EMDs, but it never seems to be in service when I’m around. At least the CSX paint of the 5941 sort of matches the L&N paint on the trailing units; 5941 was originally built for NYS&W before going to CSX, and eventually NERR.

Happy MACRO MONDAYS. This isn't very creative, but here goes. Top portion of foil is an insulation bag for home delivery from Whole Foods. Bottom purple part is a home delivery bag for a couple of my prescriptions. A little bit of creative editing just for a little fun. Silly huh? Oh well, Happy MACRO MONDAYS anyway!

My take on this weeks theme, a scrunched up piece of cooking foil. HMM everyone

Shot taken for shot a day 2023 and Saturday Self Challenge ------- 21/01/2023 , Steps , Stairs and/or ladders !!

My first idea was this building with it's external steps/staircase to enter the upper floor and to carefully crop out any modern bits and convert to sepia !! However , after what Diederik said about taking the shot to portray the building as it is at the time , I went back and got a shot as is today . There is the flight of steps for the challenge and " bonus " there is also a ladder up there on the scaffolding !!

If you look above the fire hydrant marker you can see a plaque on the wall , it is a Surrey County Council Building of Historic Interest No. 173 . I have tried to find out any history of the building but so far have hit a brick wall . I shall have to ask around when I am there next !!

This building is in the centre of the Great Bookham village just to the west of the " Squareabout " , over by the give way sign you can see a small part of the lychgate of the local parish church .

For a song , go up the ladder ==

How things have changed over a lifetime!

Then any food leftover was put into a basin, covered with a piece of muslin, and stored on the cool slate slab shelf in the pantry - that is if there was anything left over which was very rare.

Now we can wrap it in metal foil and put it in the refrigerator. A plastic dispenser holds the foil we use - 30cm wide and 50m long. Cutting it used to be a pain but now the dispenser flap there is a metal cutting strip. You open the lid, pull out the length of foil needed and then snap the lid down hard. The cutter does its job and you have the piece of foil you need.

In an attempt to recycle as much as possible, the plastic dispenser goes into one bin - except for that metal cutting edge in the lid. Using pliers I extract that and drop it into another recycling bin, but not before rolling or folding the metal cutting strip!

So, what you see here is a piece of rolled cutting edge from the foil dispenser - obviously not all of the edge.
