Flames of a wood fire in the open. I tried shutter speeds from 1/10 sec. to 1/4000 sec. This one at 1/1000 sec. is the best for me.

The Centennial Flame (French: Flamme du centenaire) is a monument on Parliament Hill commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. First lit in January 1967, the Flame worked with natural gas and as of 2021 uses biogas, presenting a fountain that does not freeze in winter. Money thrown into it is a donation for people with disabilities, some of whom have received over $5,000.

The Illawarra Flame Tree, Brachychiton acerifolius, has these interesting bell like flowers on longish panicles. They have been flowering beautifully over the last couple of weeks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brachychiton_acerifolius "It is famous for the bright red bell-shaped flowers that often cover the whole tree when it is leafless. It is commonly known as the flame tree, Illawarra flame tree, lacebark tree, or (along with other members of the genus) kurrajong."

For my 100x Flowers project.

We were very happy to see two males on this day.

I feel myself like the flame

Of a candle fanned

By every passionate claim,

Flickering fast,

Or brought to an upright stand

In the curve of a hand.

There is nothing certain, nothing steady

About the mind

That can so alter and wind

Itself in sorrow and mood,

And be ever ready

To change like the leaves in a wood.

And what of our loyalty?

That would turn, alas,

To a flickering vagrancy,

The shadow of grass,

Were it not for the certain ever-recurring calm

Of the unknown sheltering palm...

I think this might have been a Ford Fairlane or possibly a Crestline. It had so much "bling" on it including some metal logos for Thunderbirds, that I couldn't tell and the owners weren't around. It had a license plate of the front from 1954, so I figured that was the year it was originally made.

Now that's a perfectly toasted marshmallow! Too bad we have to wait a couple of weeks to actually savour toasted marshmallows on an open fire. This one was toasted oven a gas stove - in the kitchen. Can't tell you how many got burnt beyond a crisp trying to get one just right.

Macro monday theme for 27 th July is flame , this flame is from a tea light in between fresh sweet pea flowers from the garden .
