My theme for April 2015 is: artistry in metal

Flame on a small candle. For Macro Mondays and my POTD.

This is a five-image in-camera multiple exposure of some wine glasses in an illuminated wooden cabinet that hangs on my dining room wall. It was taken during some fun I had with this idea back in March.

This image is a composite of five straight (still) images of some five wine glasses with tall stems. I think what I was intrigued about them was the repetition of the light reflections, something I wanted to emphasise using the compound effect of the compound exposure.

I thought I would have a go at processing one today for the Smile on Saturday group’s theme of Mugs & Co. The colours weren’t terribly interesting so I tried rendering it as a toned monochrome using Nik Color Efex.

Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Smile on Saturday :)

Flame Skimmer again, this one has the resolution and detail of my Sony Alpha gear and some fine glass. In my i-phone post of yesterday, James Page referenced in his comment the "late, great Ethan Winning" for his passion and knowledge of the odonates. Ethan definitely helped foster my interest in them and helped me feel more sure of any ID effort on my part. Not to mention he was so entertaining and gave me lots of smiles.

Cropped a fair amount, but tons of resolution especially compared to the phone pic. Double-click away on it a couple of times.

Nice BBQ :-)

Flame Towers is a trio of skyscrapers in Baku, Azerbaijan, including the tallest in the country, with a height of 182 m. Towers symbolize the long history of fire worshippers that considered Azerbaijan as a birthplace for the prophet Zoroaster.

This fire was kindled with a flame from a Cherokee Council fire that has been burning in Oklahoma since 1838. The original fire was taken to Oklahoma when the Cherokee Nation was removed west over the infamous "Trail of Tears".

In May 1951, four Eastern band of Cherokee Tribal leaders from the Qualla Boundary, North Carolina, retraced that trail of heartbreak and brought live coals from the Oklahoma fire.

The Eternal Flame here at the Mountainside Theatre was kindled from the century old Oklahoma fire on June, 23, 1951.

May this fire burn eternally as a symbol of the strength of the Cherokee People and may it honor those Cherokee who have gone before.

Put on a fire the other night & the flame designs reminded me of hot violin music! LoL! Happy St. Patrick's Day to all who are celebrating... have a green beer on me =)

EXPLORE-D!

This looks like a hybrid of the basic US native orange ("flame") azalea. It is much brighter than usual and the flowers are in lush clumps. Pretty against this woody lounge area on the UNC Asheville campus on a dull day. University (Ramsey) library in the background.

Latin plant name: Rhododendron calendulaceum.

Right now is the perfect time to take photos of dahlias and that's what I did again this morning during another visit to the dahlia show. The weather was perfect, the light lovely and the dahlias looked great, I was in heaven. :)

These photos were taken at my friend's trailer late summer this year. It was for another photography project. I had my camera on slow shutter and moved it around in random patterns. They all turned out fairly well. The last one ended up being in the shape of a cross - entirely unintentional mind you... it's pretty crazy!

On May 12 it's ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day.

I am a victim of that illness myself, together with many others here at Flickr.

Therefore we will have the theme "Blue for You - ME 2021", on Saturday May 8, in my group Smile on Saturday! :-).

With this topic I would like to encourage not only the people here who suffer from that disease, but anyone who is in pain, physically or mentally.

And with my picture and the following words, I try to portray and describe what I feel and how I feel.

When pain is always present

Then life is really hard

When fear is never leaving

Then joy is far away

And yet

There is hope

There is love

The small flame of hope

The big flame of love

They keep me going

Maria

Micro (macro) photographs of lit candles, showcasing the amazing art that's produced when a candle's wick burns and the candle's wax melts into incredible shapes.

It took me awhile to be able to expose properly for both the burning wick and the flame itself, and it's challenging to get a sharp focus as I shoot these handheld.

Cheap Trick

Another night slowly closes in,

And I feel so lonely.

Touching heat freezing on my skin,

I pretend you still hold me.

Im going crazy, Im losing sleep.

Im in too far, Im in way too deep over you.

I cant believe youre gone.

You were the first, youll be the last.

Wherever you go, Ill be with you.

Whatever you want, Ill give it to you.

Whenever you need someone to lay your heart and head upon.

Remember: after the fire, after all the rain,

I will be the flame.

I will be the flame.

Watching shadows move across the wall,

I feel so frightened.

I wanna run to you, I wanna call,

But Ive been hit by lightening.

Just cant stand up for fallin apart.

Cant see through this veil across my heart, over you.

Youll always be the one.

You were the first, youll be the last.

Wherever you go, Ill be with you.

Whatever you want, Ill give it to you.

Whenever you need someone to lay your heart and head upon.

Remember: after the fire, after all the rain,

I will be the flame.

I will be the flame.

Taken in Stanwell Park, on one of many wonderful day trips through the Southern Highlands in New South Wales. Initially I was disappointed with the weather but ultimately it made the day much more memorable. The fog made the colour of the Flame trees even more dramatic.
