Lake Superior was a wonderful place to listen to the lapping of the waves on shore and think about how you fit into the grand picture.

I am so excited, a local food photographer is hosting a 3-day workshop about creating a cookbook. A few years ago I put together a blog of my extended family's favorite recipes. I tried to make it special by adding videos and images but they were very amateurish. After doing some real soul searching, I discovered I want to make meaningful photos that tell stories and connect people. What better way to start than with my own family?

It's funny but I look back on my diary entries from when I was a kid and I always mentioned what I ate. I have disparaged and discounted the meaning and memories and now see that food has been important to me in ways I didn't honor or recognize. I love the way Andrew Scrivani speaks about food if you get a chance to watch he has a few you tube videos that are great.

It's been one year of social distancing and not hugging my adult children and grandchildren. Now that I'm days away from receiving my second vaccination, I find myself filled with anticipation of joy-filled moments with those I love. One way of saving my sanity was in painting with watercolors and ink. Here's to all of us moving toward happier days and calm nights. Best wishes to us all.

"I have been doodling with ink and watercolor on paper all my life. It's my way of stirring up my imagination to see what I find hidden in my head. I call the results dream pictures, fantasy sketches, and even brain-sharpening exercises."

Maurice Sendak

Learning to work with watercolors has brought great joy to my life. It is easy to lose track of time when engaged in artistic pleasures. "To put your hands in a river is to feel the chords that bind the earth together."

Life can be so hectic from time to time that you nearly forget to breathe properly

When life bites you in your butt you need some hideouts where you can land again

Being stressed out is unhealthy for your body and mind

We all have different ways to apporach this, and if you don't think you have a way it's smart to think a bit and wonder

If the guys in this boat didn't find it I at least found it just by being in the moment

THANKS FOR VISITING!

One inukshuk under the setting sun. This traditional structure built by Inuits in the Canadian high-north was used mark they routes.

I have missed a couple of days from being up north at a Jam. Usually he has internet up there but this time forgot the hub. No internet in today's world is a serious thing.

Happy Slider Sunday

Every time that you're lonely

Every time that you're feeling low

I'll be there for you

So when you're caught in a landslide

I'll be there for you

And in the rain, give you sunshine

I visited this location when I had first gotten into digital photography. It was great coming back with the things I've learned. I took a lot of pictures this day.

Been far too long since I posted pictures regularly to my Flickr account, so trying to shake myself back into a steady routine again. Visited Sunny's for some inspiration :)

Out of sorts, and feeling a little put out by being ripped on a shot I posted to flickr some days ago, I had to head back to this place. It took me awhile to get over all the feelings I had about this experience, and the experience we call flickr. It can be really great, I feel I have made real friends here. For that I am extremely grateful.

It has been nice to have so many people look at my work with positive responds and that feeling is beyond words.

Sometimes I lack patience, I get frustrated, feeling like when am I gonna be able to sell something, you know.....

make the big time.

Then I look around this community, and all the obsticales that so many people have overcome, just to be able to create, and I take a deep breath, take a walk in the woods,

and feel better.

Sorry my flickr friends, I am too far behind on comments to catch up completely, but will try my best.

This time of year usually has me running, running, running.

and not the places I love, instead to the hustle and bustle which I don't.
