The perception in this part of the world, particularly in the fading mining towns and their suburbs is that things are returning to dust as the concrete and tiles crumble and fall away. One man's photogenic romance is another mans reality of drafty windows and dusty communal parks.
I'm still not entirely sure why several factories and mines I've visited have a hairdressers in one of the adjoining buildings. When I walked across the courtyard of the Mine Number 5, the Lenin Mine in Gorlowka last year the sign was hanging off the wall, collapse was imminent. Perhaps the same person who lovingly riveted together the final 'P' is taking care of things.
Returning to places like this feels quite unusual, but when I get back home I often think about what was beyond where I went; if I'd chosen a different direction or another bus route, so to go back and expand upon things means I often retrace my steps and approach things from a different direction. This is where I've begun to notice that the appearance and perception of declination is often proved wrong. For example, the until-recently derelict Lenin Stadium (when in doubt, name it after Vladimir!) in Lugansk is now being renovated, parks are restored and buildings improved with steel sheet cladding and insulation. The restoration and maintenance is often reassuringly functional yet aesthetically it leaves a bit to be desired, but occasionally someone will preserve a typographical masterpiece.

I took this picture when I was staying in the Belgian Ardens for a few days. While I was doing my location hunting-thing, I came across these giant rocks. A few hours later, during magic hour, I went back to this place, I climbed up the mountain on my flipflops, which was a terrible idea btw, and I shot this picture. There was not a single human being around and the place was so peaceful.

I TURN FIFTEEN TODAY, on 29th June.
I woke up at 6.55am and waited till 8am to have this taken.
All my friends are at school and it's the first time I'm absent in school since I was 10. Oh man.. Blame it on the Ministry of Education who put me on Leave of Absence.
Anyway, I can't believe I'm 15, I still act like a kid.
14 was such a great year for me. I fell in love with photography. I met Utt. I realise that I'm not stupid :D . I was in the greatest Secondary 2 class, 2/4. I had a lot of fun. I studied a lot. I met the awesomest friends both on Flickr and in school. And on and on.
I'm jumping in this photo.
There's a story behind this picture. Well, when I was in Thailand, I bought this shirt and so I decided to go hunting for a glasses frame to fit the shirt :D
When I was tying my hair in pigtails, I asked my dad, "Pa, aren't I cute?' :D
Okay, I'm writing a lot here.
Fifteen cenotaphs to the Bundela kings and members of their clan are located on the southern bank of river Betwa. These include the Chhatries of Madhukar shah, Vir Singh Deo, Jaswant Singh, Udait singh, Pahar Singh & Others. Most of the cenotaphs are designed in Panchaytan style. They are constructed on an elevated square platform. The Sanctum sanctorum too is square shaped and in the cneter the upper portion has been made angular with arches. The peak of the sanctum, sanctorum is patterned in the Nagar style of temple architecture.

Australia is an outdoor country. People only go inside to use the toilet. And that's only a recent development. ~ Barry Humphries
Fifteen years ago today, this beautiful girl came into my life! And I have felt so blessed every single day since. She is smart, thoughtful, kind and wise well beyond her years. I am so grateful to have her in my life. I have enjoyed watching her learn and grow these past fifteen years and look forward to seeing the person she is destined to become. I love you baby girl! xxxooo

"O God of love, compassion, and healing,
look on us, people of many different faiths
and traditions,
who gather today at this site,
the scene of incredible violence and pain.
We ask you in your goodness
to give eternal light and peace
to all who died here--
the heroic first-responders:
our fire fighters, police officers,
emergency service workers, and
Port Authority personnel,
along with all the innocent men and women
who were victims of this tragedy
simply because their work or service
brought them here on September 11, 2001."

Had a great day. Drove out to my friend's place and had champagne, yummy lunch and watched Eclipse. This is her ridiculously soft fur sweater/coat. I didn't want to take it off. I love our girly days. They make me forget about everything stressful in my world. It's like my escape. So thanks, Frells. ♥
Had an insane run-in last night at soccer. Almost had six girls from the other team jump me after the game. One of them threatened to smash my head into the wall. It was pretty funny. Needless to say, future games against this particular team should be interesting. I don't go looking for fights, quite the opposite (they went Jerry Springer on me when I was trying to quash any lingering tension with my old friend who plays on their team), but if somebody attacks me, I don't back down. My friend and I are cool, she even called me on my cell about ten minutes after we all left to apologize for the way her team blew up (to put it mildly), but I guarantee I earned a target on my back.
Bring it.
