Fifteen miles on the Erie Canal...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The last time I was on this part of Monterey Highway, it was still US101, before they built the bypass...I was with my half-brother enroute to Long Beach to purchase a Detroit Deisel 271 for his first salmon trawler...(it was the slowest boat in the fleet)...got a flat tire right about here too while it was over 100*...
and the very last phase has begun.
I went to the library together with my sister and Nina to get some books for my oral examination. I am aware that I have to start studying now, but I am incredibly unmotivated. I'm currently trying to simply start reading and even banned myself from the computer and the tv. didn't work out so far.
only six more days. six days. I can do this. six days.
Rosa's photo for today
True confessions time: I have no earthly idea what prompted me to shoot this scene. I was at our recycling center and had just stuffed all the junk into the dumpster when I spotted this "opportunity." Someday I may figure out why I took this photo, but for now I'm chalking it all up to whimsy. : ))
Chilling with Rocky the cat. Earlier madame went round the neighbourhood today selling sweets and she came back with £21! I kid you not! It is being donated to Great Ormond Street.
Excerpt from ontarioconservationareas.ca/conservation-areas/rockway/:
Part of the Niagara Escarpment and offers history and beauty in a remote setting. Hike the trail into the Fifteen Mile Creek valley to experience mature Basswood, Sugar Maple, Black Walnut and Sycamore trees.
Two spectacular waterfalls plunge from heights of 19.5 meters and 12.2 meters. The watercourse continues downriver, surging over a series of rapids. Boasting some of the best quality and quantity of salt in Ontario, the salt spring dates as far back as 1792.
happy birthday to me
It's my 15th birthday today.
Well it is hard to believe that this river caused so much damage just a few weeks ago. This area was completely under water as the river raged in the storms. It was a lovely winters day but it was just so cold the temperature in my car was 1.5. Inverurie is fifteen miles from Aberdeen itgenerally takes about 30 minutes to get out here.
We have a horrible kind of slush today it is very grey
Since moving to the Memphis area fifteen plus years ago, this winter has been the toughest one to date.
… baby, it's cold outside.
My husband purchased her 5 years ago at an auction. She is now amongst the lazy ones who graze in our woods and pastures.
She earns her keep by looking pretty.
:)
Thank you for all the support and feedback, it means a lot and thanks for the inspiration, it goes both ways.
I hope 2015 will be good for all of us.
I was under camo netting on the other side of the pond when I heard all these angry Grackles. I did not see what was lurking in the bushes or the pond. There is one Red-winged Blackbird. Bonus points if you can find the Baltimore Oriole.
My weekend was spent at my lifeguarding class for the waterpark I'll be working at this summer! It was so much fun and all the people there were really nice, so I made some new friends :) I've been feeling super frustrated lately just with everything (i.e. school, and other things) I have so much to do and worry about. I cannot wait until summer.
Hello
Original Diana with Fuji Superia 400.
18. (1:6:6)
I have a Diana and I love her, hate her, love her, hate her....get the drift?
Out of fifteen shots on this roll of film, this was the only one to return without a light-leak. That's not to say that there aren't others to upload, just that I still have a hell of a lot to learn with this camera. It doesn't help that I was so scared of it that, this roll took three and a half months to finish.
I'd guess that probably doesn't help the learning curve....
As best as I can figure, fifteen White-breasted Woodswallows are sharing this section of a branch in Sandy Camp Road Wetland Reserve. I say "this section" because I had to crop out the left side of the branch with the next half dozen birds which occupied it! Flocks of more than 100 commonly congregate, especially when roosting at night.
We only had sunshine for about fifteen minutes or so on December 26. The right fifteen minutes it turned out and that is all that matters.
Another frame of this nice scene from earlier in the fall.
CSXT's morning hotshot I022 (Syracuse to Worcester premium intermodal) is seen making easy work of the 1% grade of Charlton Hill through the interlocking at CP60 on modern day CSXT's Boston Sub mainline, the once and forever Boston and Albany Railroad. The train's destination is only fifteen miles away after making an early morning run along the Mohawk Valley and then across the commonwealth on the Vanderbilt's gateway to New England.
I had a Nisi ND1000 filter with me and headed to the outcrop where the Castle Del Duque sits. The waves here can be quite spectacular but I've slowed them down on this fifteen second exposure.
