The beautiful "Festival of Trees" at the historic Embassy Theatre in downtown Fort Wayne, IN.

Over 100,000 people enjoy the song festival in Tallinn, Estonia.

Rebellion is the largest punk festival on the planet and this year has a truly steller line-up – over 250 bands across seven stages including the new for 2000 capacity 2012 Opera House Stage, plus the Punk Art Festival, the Literary Stage, and a vast array of merch stalls sourced from across the globe – whats more its all indoors so the mayhem continues no matter what the weather does!!

The festival runs from Thursday 2nd Augst to Sunday 5th August and is held at The Winter Gardens, Blackpool – over the years Rebellion has become a magnet for punks from around the world with people reguarly travelling from across Europe, Eastern Europe, the USA, Canada, and as far away as Japan and Australia.

This years headliners include Rancid, Public Image Limited, Stiff Little Fingers, Buzzcocks – add to that the likes of Bow Wow Wow, Anti Pasti (first gig in 17yrs!!), TV Smith, Goldblade , Altered Images, Social Distortion (first Rebellion gig) a whole host of favourites including Eastfield, Only Ones, UK Subs, Ruts DC, Neville Staple, Spizz Energi and not forgetting a raft of new bands such as Bite Back, Vermin Suicides, Roughneck Riot.

Each year, we celebrate that part of our history with the annual Spinach Festival, a fun, family-oriented event that draws thousands of visitors from all over the area. It’s a festive day of music, entertainment, arts and antique vendors, food, a recipe contest, wine tasting, cooking demonstrations, kids’ activities and so much more – all set in the beautifully renovated Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park. The event was held on Saturday, September 8th, 2012. This photo was provided by Lenexa Volunteer Photographer Bill Harrison.

This was taken at the Sampler field, looking away from the Franconia Ridge, which otherwise dominates the viewscape. The ridge right of center is the Presidential Range, with Mount Washington at the highest point.

A Taiwanese aboriginal girl greets visitors in this lantern sculpture that stands three stories high. Her companion symbolizes the Year of the Dog.

The colours in the lantern shift slowly as viewers watch. Every half hour the music of a festive aboriginal chorus booms across the square as smoke rises, the colours swing across the entire range of hues, laser lights dart, and the entire sculpture rotates 360 degrees.

All of my Fairie Festival photos came out with awful color this year. They all had an extreme blue cast. Even when I supposedly fixed the color cast (to shift the blue), the color balance was just awful in a different way. It was still wildly unnatural. Every tone I tried to adjust changed others, or - when done for each color individually - just the change in that shade, when in context with all of the other shades, didn't look right. Frustrating.

I'm supposing that the bad color is a result of my camera's white balance being off. The full auto setting of my Canon 400D would automatically adjust the white balance for the bright sunlight/clear blue sky and high brightness/shadow contrast. But the full auto setting only has the sharpness/resolution set at a little above 50% and that cannot be changed in full auto - it's unchangeable. I want my detail to be as high as possible, so I use the "P" setting. I'm still learning about my XTi, though from what I can gather so far, you can't put the white balance on auto balance when using the "P" setting. Frustrating.

Anyway, using Photoshop Elements 5, I've tried a number of ways to make the color corrections, including adjusting based on "skin tones" (which gets the closest of any methods so far), auto color correction (doesn't help much), auto anything, and lots of manual manipulations available in various menu items - including adjusting levels by histogram, especially blue/yellow. Nothing works across the board. It's gonna take a looooong time to fix these. And on a few, the color is unfixable. I may be able to salvage them by making them B&W or a creative color combination not intended to look natural. It's a salvage operation. Frustrating.
