I have been attending the Buddha's birthday lantern festival for years and have always come away with inferior images. This year, due to it's falling later in the season and with the added power of my new camera, the results were a bit better.

comme chaque année un festival folk est organisé à l'Ecomusee. Les groupes se produisent dans le merveilleux village alsacien reconstitué dans cet ecomusée
The festival is celebrated in honour of Lord Subramaniam (also known as Lord Murugan), the destroyer of evil who represents virtue, youth and power.
The festival generally lasts for 2 days. On the eve, a chariot procession bearing a statue of the Lord Murugan begins from Sri Thendayuthapani Temple at Tank Road to Layan Sithi Vinayagar Temple at Keong Saik Road.
The Thaipusam ceremony starts in the early hours of the morning. The first batch of devotees carry milk pots and wooden kavadis (ceremonial devices used for religious self mortification in Hinduism). Some pierce their tongues with skewers and carry a wooden kavadi decorated with flowers and peacock feathers balanced on their shoulders. Other devotees carry spiked kavadis that require elaborate preparation.*

The Hindu festival of Holi, also called the Festival of Colors, is celebrated with much enthusiasm in the month of Phalgun, which usually corresponds to the month of March. It marks the arrival of spring and the bright colors represent energy, life, and joy.
This exuberant festival is associated with the immortal love of Lord Krishna and Radha, and hence, Holi is spread over 16 days in Nandgaon-Barsana-Goverdhan-Vrindavan as well as Mathura - the cities with which Lord Krishna shared a deep affiliation. Apart from the usual fun with coloured powder and water, Holi is marked by vibrant processions which are accompanied by folk songs, dances and a general sense of abandoned vitality.
Ice Festival Fun. With street photography, it's important to change when the situation changes. I was using my macro lens to capture the interesting striations in the shaved ice left by ice carvers at the St. Charles ice Festival. But as I worked, a little boy began stacking the ice into piles. At first, I waited until he finished, but then I saw the street photography possibilities. A short conversation with the boy's mother and I quickly changed my mental focus from macro to street photography. 1.28.2017. Sony A7II 90mm 1/2500@f4.0 ISO500

This guy agreed to pose for me at a festival yesterday, natural light shpt using a Sony A7III with Sigma 135mm F1.8 Art lens shot wide open
Paper negative (Ilford MG RC - well expired) shot at ISO 3 in Graflex pre-Anniversary 3x4 Speed Graphic with Optar 90mm f/5.6. Shot at f/5.6 for 1/10 second (I love that this pre-Anniversary because the focal plane shutter goes down to 1/10th from 1/1000th. 24 speeds plus 'T'. Not bad for the 1930s).
Developed in Kodak D-158 by inspection in red light. I am trying to perfect my "brush" development, so I used a mixture of drops of developer, streaks of developer and brushing the developer. I also tried using my finger tips for fun...
Water stop / wash for 3 minutes, fixed in Ilford Hypam 1:4 for 4 minutes, rinsed and dried....
