That magical moment when a father is the biggest man in a young girl's heart, and life is perfect while riding on his shoulders.
my dad and me being easy and playful .. it's why i love this picture of us :)
finally found it just now for fathers day *
we are at the lake of the woods cabin in oregon, summer of 1976
i was home for my 10-year medford high school reunion
we called our dad the "lion" - as he was a lion! .. and we called our mom "the bluebird of happiness", as she was indeed that :)
up on the wall is a tile i got for mom when in spain, 1970, while hitchhiking throughout scandinavia, europe (including behind the iron curtain..) and northern africa. .. (carried that tile in my backpack to eventually bring it home to her. it's now in my kitchen :)
there were many 'found' bluebird and lion things decorating this cabin!
blesses and gratitude to fathers everywhere ~ all genders and all species ~ who give loving, fathering energies to children!
love you dad! forever!

some photos of their works
I took this picture of my father and brother while they were looking at something on the ground smiling. This was meant to be for my school photography project (This was taken back in high school) but I just thought that the photo turned out well (considering that I was still quite new to handling a proper camera).
Happy Father's Day

One of my favourite Christmas songs is Greg Lake's
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on earth
But instead, it just kept on raining
A veil of tears for the virgin birth
I remember one Christmas morning
A winter's light and a distant choir
And the peal of a bell and that Christmas tree smell
And their eyes full of tinsel and fire
They sold me a dream of Christmas
They sold me a silent night
And they told me a fairy story
'Till I believed in the Israelite
And I believed in Father Christmas
And I looked to the sky with excited eyes
'Till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn
And I saw him and through his disguise
I wish you a hopeful Christmas
I wish you a brave new year
All anguish, pain and sadness
Leave your heart and let your road be clear
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on earth
Hallelujah, Noel be it heaven or hell
The Christmas we get we deserve

I finally found some of those old shadow stamps on Ebay and started playing with them yesterday trying out different blocks of color. Made a very simple card for my father in law who is a very simple kind of fella. I used distress inks in the colors bundled sage, peeled paint, antique linen, vintage photo (fern & sentiment), and also used Memories sand and Adirondack caramel. I lightly misted the shadow stamps with water before stamping. Embossed the fern and the sentiment. Distressed the edges a bit and really had to force myself not to add something girly like a flower or ribbons!!
Thanks for peeking! Anne
My brother-in-law and his new son.
After playing with a full color and a black and white version, I ended up liking this high contrast, low key version best. It makes me think of all the times my husband got up in the night to take care of the baby so I could sleep. Men, in case you don't know, your lady loves it when you do that! :)

(homeless self described minister, sf, 12/13/06)
the hounds are muscular and move with purpose. leashed; they seem to propel him. he is thin; he drifts and jerks. his movement is some witness of a condition that brings him an ssi check each month. he's off to a cannabis club for treatment. he's just been panhandling downtown.
he lives camped out at sunset beach some 6 miles from where we stand downtown. he says he's a minister for the "whole earth church of christ." i ask him where that is. he steps back, raises his hands: "you're looking at it."
says he doesn't preach much; he just tries to help the people he comes across. says people need help; it's hard "out here."
says "i've been in father's service for quite some time now."

and here the two loves of my life - Miguel and our baby boy, Gonçalo!
p.s.: fab processing by Miguel ;)
I could be wrong on this. The way this young father hold his son, though common in developing countries like Mexico, when walking around, is not something I see parents do in developed countries. Perhaps it's because in developed countries baby strollers are more affordable for parents?

I was blessed to spend the weekend with my son Aaron and his son Greyson. Our church does an annual father/son camp-out at Camp Concordia in Gowen Michigan. Here is a shot of my son Aaron and Greyson as they headed down to the beach for a swim. Greyson just loves to swim.
I give my son a lot of credit for they way that he has grown up to be a great dad!! It hasn't been easy with splitting time with Greysons mom but he is making the most with the time he gets with Greyson.
I made the shot look more like a painting than a photo.
