I admire Hugues Erre as a photographer and chronicler of his time, in which he has captured life (I mean life in all its facets) with his camera, his eye and his empathy. I love his pictures. They are paintings. I could go on and on with wonderful words for Hugues.... :-)

The day before yesterday, a camera (as a gift from Hugues Erre) flew to me directly from Arles in a package. Directly to my studio. It is a Canon Dial 35-2 half-frame format camera (which he also used to take pictures himself).

Dear Hugues, I feel honored. You had your reasons for giving me this camera. I won't ask why. But I will send you a letter.

I will have the camera repaired at a professional repair shop. The shutter is tired :) That won't be a problem. After that, I will take pictures with this camera. I am looking forward to it.

Thank you Hugues Erre!!

--

Direkt in mein Atelier.

Feel free to use the image in whatever way you want! I would be very grateful for a credit link to www.planetofsuccess.com/blog/ IF you publish this image on a reputable website (such as about.com) or in a reputable newspaper. Thank you!

Frequently asked questions are listed questions and answers, all supposed to be commonly asked in some context, and pertaining to a particular topic. Since the acronym FAQ originated in textual media, its pronunciation varies; "fack," "fax," "facts," and "F.A.Q." are commonly heard. Depending on usage, the term may refer specifically to a single frequently asked question, or to an assembled list of many questions and their answers.

While the name may be recentthe FAQ format itself is quite old. For instance, Matthew Hopkins wrote The Discovery of Witches in 1647 in FAQ format. He introduces it as "Certaine Queries answered," ... Many old catechisms are in a question-and-answer (Q&A) format. Summa Theologica, written by Thomas Aquinas in the second half of the 13th century, is a series of common questions about Christianity to which he wrote his reply to each.

FAQ

"Squeezed Up | Tales of Polynesian Pop and Kustom Kulture" is the upcoming new documentary film by filmmaker Dirk "The Pixeleye" Behlau the co-director and DoP of internationally acclaimed documentary film Flake & Flames - Kustom Kulture Film released in 2013.

Dirk will spend two weeks in California in october 2018 with a bunch of guys and their Hot Rods where they will meet up with with other gearheads & artists visiting extraordinairy places and having a helluva time. That's the plan... follow their journey, let's see what will happen.

Some additional info by director Dirk Behlau - please read:

Due the fact that I co-directed the classic Kustom Kulture documentary Flake & Flakes (FF) I am aware that some people may expect something like FF Part II. I’m sorry but „Squeezed Up“ is not planned as a sequel, in fact it is something completely different. While FF was a documentary film about the Kustom Kulture scene in the US and Europe this project is more like a road movie of friends visiting cool places and meet other people - having fun and make new experiences. Everything is already set up, we have a tight schedule and lots of plans. I’m curious myself how this will work out.

Some people may thing: Why is Jesper Bram, my danish buddy, I did FF with not on board? Because it’s no FF Part II :) Jesper is a renowned tattoo artist nowadays and focussing on his Lowbrow academy as well. We are still good friends and he is aware of this project… actually he was one of the first people I have spoken about the film. He’s totally cool with it I’m doing this and totally supports the project.

FAQ:

When will the film be out?

First we have to do it, edit it and many more things… so I guess something in late 2019. On DVD and digital. Maybe even with an additional coffee-table book.

Who is involved?

Dirk Behlau is shooting the film on his own. Stefan Immke, Tattoo Artist Andy´s Body Electric Tattoo Studio (you may know from FF), Matze from Germany plus Shane Bagnall from the US and a long list of creative people. Yes there will be Hot Rods involved too :) More info to follow when we have everything together.

As said we have a very tight schedule and therefore we won't be able to do much extra stuff. Of course we would like to visit more places and everything but please don't ask if you can participate i nthe movie, if we can drop by your house, shop, bar etc. :) We would love to do that but it will be impossible.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) ... copied and pasted from following link > www.theswansanctuary.org.uk/faq.php

The following list of questions are the questions we are asked on almost a daily basis - we hope the answers will be of use.

Swan-related Questions

What do swans eat?

Swans living on fresh water will typically eat pondweed, stonewort and wigeon grass, as well as tadpoles and insects such as milfoil.

Swans living on salt water will typically eat sea arrow grass, salt marsh grass, eel grass, club rush and green algae, as well as insects and molluscs.

What can I feed swans?

If you want to feed swans then give them fresh bread (mould is poisonous to them), grain such as wheat or corn, and fresh greens such as lettuce or spinach. The food should be thrown onto the water so that they can swallow water with the food - feeding them on land is environmentally unsound and encourages the swans to leave the water whenever they see people which can bring them into harm from cars, dogs etc.

Can swans be over-fed?

No. Swans are not greedy creatures and will only eat what they need.

Is it normal for a swan to fold one of its legs up onto its back?

Yes. It's like us crossing our legs, plus the large surface area of the foot is used for body temperature control like an elephant's ear, absorbing heat from the sun when necessary.

At what age do swans start mating?

A juvenile swan normally lives as part of a flock until it is about 4 years old and deemed as being an adult. It then seeks out a mate, most commonly from the flock it's living in, and heads off with the mate to find their own mating territory. If another mating pair is nearby then problems can occur in the form of a territorial battle, the losers of which will have to move on in search of another "patch".

What time of year do swans breed?

The mute swan, which is the white swan most commonly seen in the British Isles, will normally mate at anytime from spring through to summer, with the cygnets being born anytime from May through to July.

How long do swans sit on their eggs?

After the nest has been built, which typically takes 2-3 weeks, the egg laying process begins with an egg being laid every 12-24 hours. Once all the eggs have been laid, which can take 2-3 weeks, they will all be incubated (ie sat on to start the growth process) at the same time with hatching usually 42 days (6 weeks) later.

Is it normal for a swan to sit on her eggs for longer than the normal 6 weeks?

Yes. If she is still sitting on the eggs then she must be able to hear movement within the eggs. It may be that she lost her first clutch of eggs to a predator and has laid a new set - this would explain the extended "sitting" period.

What predators do cygnets and swans have?

New born cygnets are mainly lost to crows, herons, magpies, turtles, pike and large perch. Both cygnets and full-grown swans are also the prey of foxes and mink.

The nesting female has disappeared/been killed - should anything be done?

No. The male will take over the nesting process and is quite capable of rearing the cygnets alone.

The nesting female's mate has disappeared/been killed - should anything be done?

No. She is quite capable of rearing the cygnets alone. People often worry that nesting females will starve to death when they have lost their mates as they are scared to leave their nests in search of food - this is incorrect. All female swans feast before nesting as they know food will be harder to come by once they are on the nest - it is normal for them to lose weight during the nesting period. That said, if a nesting female has lost her mate then she will be grateful for any food thrown to her within reach of the nest.

There's a swan's nest in a really vulnerable location - what can be done?

If the nest is vulnerable to interference from human factors, such as on a tow-path or the bank of a pond where people walk their dogs, then you should contact your local council and ask them to erect protective fencing around the nest. If the nest is vulnerable to natural events such as high tides & floodwater then it should be left alone so that the swans can learn from the experience - if a young couple lose a nest under these circumstances then they will learn not to build a nest so low down the next year. Sad as it is, they have to be allowed to learn from natural experiences which is one reason why it is illegal to interfere with a swan's nest in any way.

How many eggs usually hatch out and how many of the cygnets usually survive to adulthood?

Swans hatch up to 10 eggs at a time with the expectation of losing several of them. It is not uncommon for all the cygnets to be lost to predators, nor is it uncommon for most of them to survive - it all depends on the location and the natural protection afforded them. As the parents grow older they learn from the experience of previous years.

Do swans breed throughout their lives?

Yes, though the number of eggs laid each year tends to decrease with time.

How long do the cygnets stay with their parents?

Typically 6 months.

Is it normal for the parents to be chasing their cygnets once they're several months old?

Absolutely. Once the cygnets are old enough to look after themselves the parents cut the parental ties with them and chase them away, sometimes quite aggressively.

Where do cygnets go when they leave their parents?

They normally join the first flock of swans they encounter where they usually stay until they mature when about 4 years old.

Is it true that swans mate for life?

As a general rule this is true. If a mate is lost then the surviving mate will go through a grieving process like humans do, after which it will either stay where it is on its own, fly off and find a new stretch of water to live on (where a new mate may fly in and join it) or fly off and re-join a flock.

How long do swans normally live?

In the wild, with all the hazards they have to live with (vandals, pollution, dogs, mink, overhead cables, bridges, pylons, lead poisoning, fishing-tackle injuries etc), an average lifespan would be 12 years. In a protected environment this figure can reach 30 years.

Do swans moult?

Yes - typically in July or August each year, during which time they are unable to fly. Breeding pairs do not moult at the same time as they, and any offspring, would be too vulnerable to attack. They are unable to fly for approximately 6 weeks from the time that they lose their flight feathers to the time they have grown new ones.

Can swans take off from land?

Yes, but they need at least 30 yards to become airborne and the same again to reach a safe height to clear surrounding obstructions such as houses.

Do swans bite?

Not as such as they don't have teeth, but they can hiss and peck which can cause some discomfort if the skin gets pinched.

Is it true that a swan's wing can break your arm?

Yes, but only in exceptional cases. If a wing in full span and velocity were to hit a weak-boned person (such as a child or an elderly person) then it is theoretically possible. In reality it is almost unheard of and is never used as a form of attack as swans are a defensive bird. The only time they become aggressive is when they are protecting their nesting ground or cygnets when they will chase off intruders, be they other swans, geese or humans who get too close.

Is it true that all mute swans in the UK are owned by the Queen?

Yes, she has the prerogative right of ownership for all the mute swans in England and Wales.

What is Swan Upping?

Swan Upping is the annual census of the swan population on stretches of the River Thames in the counties of Middlesex, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire which takes place during the third week of July each year. For more details see the official web site of The British Monarchy.

Is it true that harming a swan in any way is a criminal offence?

Yes, and prosecutions are becoming more commonplace now that conviction precedents have been set. It is also a criminal offence to interfere with nesting swans in any way - they cannot be moved if the location of the nest is inconvenient for whatever reason.

What are the biggest threats to swans?

In addition to the natural threats they face from foxes, mink & botulism, modern society has added several more such as pollution, vandalism, uncontrolled dogs, fishing-tackle and lead poisoning, as well as unmarked pylons, overhead cables & bridges.

How can you tell the male from the female?

Whilst juveniles this is only really possible by veterinary inspection. However, once they have matured (about 4 years old) there is normally a marked difference in size (males are bigger) and, in the case of mute swans, the black fleshy knob at the base of the beak is larger in the male.

I've seen a swan with a big lump under its beak - should I do anything?

This is normally a grass ball and not a cause for concern but, if you are in any doubt, please contact us.

I've seen a swan with big lumps on its feet the size of marbles - should I do anything?

This is normally "Bumble Foot" and not a cause for concern but, again, if you are in any doubt please contact us.

Why do some swans have orangey stains on their heads?

This is caused by iron in the river beds which stains the feathers when the swan is looking for food in the silt.

Do swans sleep on land or water?

Both. They can sleep standing on one leg or whilst floating, usually with their heads tucked back under a wing.

How many species of swans reside in the UK?

The only permanent resident is the mute swan which does not migrate (though they may move around the country in winter to better feeding grounds). Bewick and whooper swans are winter visitors - see our Swan Species section for further details.

I've seen a black swan in the wild...

Black swans are actually from Australia and New Zealand and are not indigenous to this country. Some are bred and sold in the UK for private lakes and would normally have their wings pinioned when very young such that they cannot fly and escape into the wild. However a few clearly slip through the net as there are several living on the River Thames these days. They live happily with the common white "Mute" swan and eat the same food so, if you do see one, there is nothing to worry about.

The afternoon Service Towards Lucknow Aishbagh Arrives With IZN YDM4 6528 from Tikunia ( Train Name - Tikunia - Aishbagh Passenger )

I was to board the same train towards Lucknow and somehow captured it since I knew it had a stop of 5 minutes at the station so , Hence I got enough time for the click.

YDM4 Class is one of the threatened species of Indian Railways since only a few Meter-Gauge Railway Lines remain in India , A country which Once used to have one of the world's largest Meter Gauge Networks under British Empire and the meter gauge network that used to exist from North to South and East To West Of India is now depleted and left to a few places which will soon close down and the process of Gauge Conversion to Broad Gauge will take over.

Some Info On The YDM4 Locomotive :-

Co-Co diesel electrics originally from Alco (1961-1964), later manufactured by DLW (1968-1993). The initial batch of 55 from Alco were used for evaluation and comparison with a similar batch of General Motors locos. The Alcos were chosen as the preferred MG main-line diesel locos. Alco model is DL535A. Originally manufactured with only vacuum brakes and dynamic braking, no air brakes. Rated at 1350/1200hp. Max. speed 100km/h. YDM-4A are identical to YDM-4, except that they were supplied by MLW (1964) -- the Canadian batch consisting of about 99 locos. Some of the MLW locos do not have the 'A' suffix in the class designation.

Ahmedabad was the main centre for these locos. A few were hauling local trains in the Secunderabad-Bodhan section in 1997, and are reported [8/00] to be working around Mysore, Villupuram, etc. Some from the Guntakal shed are still [7/02] hauling trains on the Pakala-Guntakal-Bellary route. Some are thought to be at Gandhidham after gauge conversion left Gandhidham - Palanpur an isolated MG line.

DLW has exported some (15 each) of these to Tanzania and Vietnam (1976-1985), and to Bangladesh (2000?). The ones for Bangladesh were classed YDM-4BR and had dual cabs, a change achieved without modifying the length of the loco. This variant turned out later to have major cooling problems.

Malaysian railways (KTM) acquired 39 used YDM-4's from IR in 1996. It is not clear if they were leased or sold. Of these, 14 were returned to India by 1999. In Malaysia they retained their IR road numbers (between 6352 and 6725).

Builders: Alco, MLW, DLW

Engine: Alco 251B-6 (Alco/MLW), Alco 251D-6 (DLW); 6 cyl., 4-stroke, inline

Transmission: Electric (DC-DC, in contrast to most other locos that were AC-DC).

Axle load: 12t. Bogies: Co-Co trimount.

Fuel capacity: 3000l

So I tend to get a lot of questions regarding my dolls. So I felt I should do a FAQ.

Q: What are these dolls called?

They are called Ball Jointed dolls (BJDs) or sometimes ABJDs (Asian Ball Jointed Dolls)

Q: Who are your dolls and what are their sculpts.

Noah is my Luts Delf Shine

Milo is my Minifee Luka

Teddy is my Modded Luts Delf Soony

Dounia is my Pukifee Ante

And Kavi is my Modded Hujoo Baby Ted

Q: Who did your dolls makeup/mods?

My dolls FACEUPS and mods were done by the following:

Noah -> Faceup is Luts Company Default and the tattoos, piercings and body blushing is done by Me!! 

Milo -> Faceup by Mokarran

Teddy -> Faceup, piercings and stretched ear mods by Krowbar. Eye closing and teeth opening mods by N/A.

Dounia -> Faceup is Fairyland Company Default.

Kavi -> Faceup, tattoos and mods by Luluefae.

Q:Can I buy *insert doll here aka Usually Noah*

No. To put it bluntly. None of my dolls are for sale UNLESS I state otherwise. I usually have a separate folder/gallery with all the dolls I have for sale. So please check there before asking. There is no point ever asking me unless I state. Also, Noah will not ever be for sale…so please stop asking me!

Q: Why when talking about Noah do you sometimes joke his nickname is Demi? Souldnt it be Noh or something?

Ooookkkayy here we go. I do call Noah, Noh a lot. But Demi came from when I first got him. I saw him and jokingly said “He looks like a Demi!” and since then his jokey nickname is Demi. People can have nicknames completley unrelated. E.g. I get called Fred or Lupin.

Q: Can I use your photo?

For Fan Art....Yea. I would friggin love fan art! For stock? No.

Q:How much did you pay?

Lots.

Q: Where can I get a doll like yours?

Noah and Teddy are from www.eluts.com but are no longer available, so check the second hand market for them.

Dounia and Milo are from www.dollfairyland.com and are under the Pukifee and Minifee Section (Ante and Luka sculpts)

Kavi can be found at junkyspot.com/ under the Hujoo section (Hujoo Baby Ted in Chocolate)

Q: Im getting a Resinsoul/Bobobie doll. What is your opinion on them?

Meh. Is my opinion. I have previously owned a RS Li and sold her promptly after I got her. I hated her posability and how her joints worked. But unlike what most people say, the sculpting was beautiful and the resin was thick and very high quality. She just wasn’t what I was looking for. Teddy is currently on a RS 61cm Boy Body. And I like it a lot.

Q: Your favorite companies?

Luts and Fairyland and Migidoll

Q: Any tips for first timers?

Yes…

-research… lots. Don’t jump into the hobby and not know anything. Seriously. I sold a doll to a person who owned 6 dolls and dint know what restringing or yellowing was.

- See how much space you have. Im not kidding when I say, Doll Boxes take up a shit tonne of room. Like….Woah.

-Be prepared. Get everything you need for your dolls. Including Magic Erasers…they will save your life.

-Be patient. Yes receiving a doll takes months, but be patient and don’t complain even though you will have the urges to.

-Don’t be rude. If you don’t like someones doll, don’t say it. Keep it to yourself. People spend countless hours and money on their dolls and being told they are ugly can hurt someones feelings. E.g. I got told Noah looked rediculous and stupid, when I spent a crap load of money on him to look like his character, it may not be to your taste but it is someone elses.

-If you attend meets…don’t be a douche. No going round touching other peoples dolls unless you ask. The doll may look stable, but it may not be. Clean your hands, we don’t grubby marks on expensive dollies. NO NAIL VARNISH. Oh my Godric, I cannot emphisise this enough. Nail varnish is the bane of the doll hobby. If you get it on someones doll it is horrible to get off and leaves a gross mark. Just….dont do it.

Q: Do Noahs tattoos symbolise anything?

No. They just look cool

Q: Did you paint Noahs Tattoos?

No. They are Temp tattoos for humans which I MSC'd.

Q: Are Teddys gauges real/going to be real?

They are Called Stretchers. Gauges are this: www.panbo.com/Garmin_205xxx_20Gauges_20Panbo_small.jpg

Yes they are real. His ear got drilled to fit them in. You can see through them. They are cool. End of.

Q: Can I contact you if I need help?

Yes. On here, On DOA or on DA. I have the same username everywhere. Oh and YouTube. I am MJsNotSoClever on there.

1 year ago today... *sniffle*

Hans Zimmer is probably my fave movie composer... and the "Gladiator" soundtrack is my fave soundtrack... and "Gladiator" and "Thelma & Louise" are among my top 5 movies... :B

However, I hadn't planned on attending this Zimmer-less show - I was watching a movie at home that evening, and randomly paused to check my phone (which was on silent as usual). There was a text from Carolin saying she had a spare ticket for the concert, which would begin in a couple of hours (just down the road from me), and would I like to come? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA OK THEN. So I went there with Carolin and her brother. :D Nice music obv, and nice visuals, and Sirprize Lisa Gerrard!

Had to hush a couple of manbabies who were conversing behind us. -_-

A short while later, I booked another Zimmer concert where he would appear in person - in Stockholm, April 2021. Although that's been postponed until February 2022... for now... D:

Q: What's with the cable?

A: A couple of people tried using a tow cable to pry open one of the hatches to the missile bay below. They succeeded in opening it, but were quickly arrested by police for vandalism among other charges.

If you visit places like this, it is best not to try and take anything or break anything. The charges will quickly become very serious.
