False Bay. 1488 wurde sie erstmals als „Golf zwischen den Bergen“ erwähnt. Der Name „False Bay“ stammt von Seefahrern, die in die Bucht segelten, weil sie sie für die Table Bay hielten.

Ty45-20 with the freight train passes Głuszyca Górna ex-station? Not at all, it's just an event train 88050 for railfans with nice freight outfit on February 10, 2001. The travellers were in first two wagons (equipped with coal or coke-fired heating stoves). Unfortunatelly the negative film I took that day went bad through the years and again, Piotrek must have been curating it in Gimp couple of hours to preserve all these puffs of smoke around. The overall effect is not the best but I appreciate all efforts he made to make it possible to show.

Taken near Nesjavellir while hunting for aurora borealis. The thin green coloring at the top of the image is actually some, but not enough to make me call this a borealis shot. The "sunset" is ambient light coming from Hveragerði/Selfoss.

Taken at the community garden I help out at. I was initially going to make this B&W, but I flicked it onto false colour in Exposure X4 and it just sort of worked.

▶ "Nothoscordum bivalve is a species of flowering plant in the Amaryllidaceae known by the common names crowpoison and false garlic. It is native to the eastern United States, as well as Mexico and parts of South America."

▶ "Nothoscordum bivalve is a perennial herb growing from a bulb about a centimeter wide. It produces an erect stem, growing up to 16 inches tall (40 cm). The inflorescence [cluster of flowers arranged on a stem] is an umbel [short flower stalks that spread from a common point, somewhat like umbrella ribs] of 3 to 6 flowers. The flower has six whitish tepals [outer, petal-like structures], about ½-inches long (1.3-cm). The flower does not smell of onion [hence, false garlic], but can have a fragrant scent. It is a favorite nectar source for small butterflies."

The name false morel is given to several species of mushroom which bear a resemblance to the highly regarded true morels of the genus Morchella. Like Morchella, false morels are members of the Pezizales, but within that group represent several unrelated taxa scattered through the families Morchellaceae, Discinaceae, and Helvellaceae, with the epithet "false morel" most often ascribed to members of the genus Gyromitra.

False Marten - Long-tailed Weasel juvenile doing its best impression of an American Marten in a Redwood fork. When photographing wildlife, I always enjoy capturing them in a variety of settings such as trees, rocks, etc. I think this is exciting because it gives me a better understanding of their natural history - and provides for a diverse range of images.

My goal was to get a better weasel in tree image. When I photographed them in 2018, I captured a weasel in the fork of a tree, but the lighting was too harsh.

Just as was leaving, and it was very dark outside, I saw this weasel shoot up a small redwood sapling. After being mobbed aggressively by some very unhappy California Towhees, he slide down and gave me a quick peep from the main trunk. I fired away 4 shots, and thankfully one of them was in focus.

Shortly after this, the weasel disappeared, only to pop up right near me and investigate! A great way to to wrap up the evening and I thought it was great how the redwood bark matched the weasel's coloration.

On the way home from a camping trip I pulled over at Termo California (gateway to Madeline, Likely, and parts beyond). It was a good place for a leg stretch and, since starting my journey into near infrared photography, it has been on the list of places to explore in invisible light. There are the remains of an old gas station/market there as well as this old abandoned house with an old cottonwood tree in what used to be the front yard. I shot this image with my 590 nanometer filter, which allows the orange/red end of visible light through along with the near infrared. This allows for some interesting opportunities to get creative in post production and create interesting “false color” images such as this.

Termo, which as also gone by the names Snowstorm and Armstrong, is a bit of a ghost town in Lassen County, California. It was located on the now abandoned Southern Pacific Railroad line 32 miles (51 km) north-northeast of my own Lassen County home. I was the original 1900 terminus of the Nevada–California–Oregon Railway, before the line was extended north. In my youth a gas station and small market operated there but as highway speeds have gotten faster and automotive ranges have gotten longer, it has long since been abandoned and have also fallen into decay.
