Ground fog and low clouds reflecting street lights give a false dawn look to the southern sky in this long exposure of the Milky Way
Well, since it's felt like false spring lately, I decided to revisit another season on this winter day.
I believe--this one wasn't in the Fairy Ring like the last one I posted, like the ones coming. This one grew alone on the other side of the yard.
HSS!
Thanks for Viewing.
This beautiful area is in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Every night this area will sparkle showing off the Crowning jewel B.C. Place.
These flowers are common in the woods around here. This one, though, was seen in the Japanese Tea Garden, San Antonio...

We live close to the edge of the Canadian [Precambrian] Shield, so the bedrock lives close to the surface. The rock mountain in the the photo is from rock excavated in the building of a new subdivision. I wonder if it will have a future purpose or if it will be removed once construction is completed.

The false chief or false diadem. One of many butterflies I spotted at the Sabie River near Hazyview. The greater Hazyview area is home to half of South Africa's butterfly species.
Pseudacraea butterflies mimic other butterfly species meaning their superficial resemblance to other species results in a distinct advantage, which usually means protection or better access to food for either itself or its offspring. The real Chief butterfly
Although these look like they would be great on a stack of pancakes or waffles, they are poisonous to humans. Birds eat them though and are responsible for spreading the wildflower's seeds around. Photographed on the Chad Erickson Park trail near our home.

According to Wikipedia, False Kiva is a human-made stone circle of unknown origin in a cave in a remote area of the Canyonlands National Park. It requires some hiking knowledge or special directions to find. Debate rages on whether to disclose the exact location of False Kiva, as it enjoys a semi-protected status. While park rangers are required to disclose the location of the Class II site if asked about it directly, it does not appear on official maps of the park. Because of the remoteness of the location, the site itself is not protected from vandalism of any kind.
Getting there requires some rock scrambling which I am not very good at. The hubby was bound and determined to make it there and managed to succeed. He even came away with some decent shots, using his little Nikon Coolpix.
Have a great Wednesday.....thanks for all your comments and visits!!!!

This is the first flower, more to come. It’s endemic to a small area of coastal mountains of south-eastern Brazil.
An early spring wildflower whose blossom with evolve into a small berry with the appearance of a strawberry. Taken with a 10mm extension tube on a 50mm lens. Topaz Sharpen AI used to enhance the sharpness and lower the noise.

False Fronts By Jasper Mirror
When the glow is too much
turn your heart towards the truth.
Keep the tears flowing
Inside of your truth.
Face the water falling.
Never lose yourself.
Your imperfections are perfect in who you are,
the one you are loved for.
Every wound
they try to tell you that you are
washes away in your storm.
Their issues are theirs alone.
They truly are,
alone.
Pull their fronts off your face.
Their voice, all consuming,
is not yours.
Push it back into their throats.
Hear the truth in your own voice.
Don’t leave yourself behind
in corners of untruths.
Truths are freedom from
the pain the false fronts inflict.
Follow your voice, it will never
leave you behind,
Inside of their fists.
Don’t lose your
dripping soul in their waterfall.
Carry your bleeding-heart
beating inside your chest,
breathing, pounding, existing
because of your strength.
Making up the true part of
everything you are
inside of your heart.
Mending their imperfections
to prove you are not their projection
has nothing to do with who you are.
To fix you based on their untruths
builds you a false front.
Perfection is within everything
you truly are.
When you immerse yourself in their damages
It bends your spine,
dragging you into their dirt.
Stand higher within your peace.
Fight off their storm.
They are nothing,
a false front.
Your hurt you forge through creates
a warrior inside of you.
Don’t lose your heart
in pieces they want you to be.
You are not broken.
Every moment,
Every moment you
take back,
is where you
find the truth.
You find you
in your repair.

Something caught the attention of this polar bear coming off the ice, causing him to lift his paw, lower his head and swerve it in that direction. Nothing that I could see, but his acute sense of smell (>2000 times better than mine) may have triggered the response. Churchill, Manitoba.

Today was Mantis Day in my garden. I first found one in a Rose bush, as I was removing damaged leaves. Then, coming back towards the house, I spotted this one in my potted Chrysanthemum, under the veranda. /
This was taken from the park access that crosses 6th Avenue in Vancouver, near False Creek. The green space on the right is Charleson Park and has great paved trails for bikes and pedestrians as well as a wonderful dog park that was well used and enjoyed by dogs and handlers alike. This area is part of the False Creek Trail that circles the inlet.
