I spent an embarrassingly large amount of time creating bubbles and having every one of them fail. My bubble solution needs to be remade because the bubbles die and pop very quickly but instead of pouring it out and starting with fresh, I kept going. I wanted to make it work and even though I was frustrated that they lost color and popped. I won't make that mistake tomorrow but need to use one of the images from today as a reminder that when things aren't working we should stop and fix them. I am not sure if you need to hear this message today too but if you know something isn't working instead of just powering through you will end up with better results and be happier if you fix the problem instead of just ignoring it and thinking it will go away. Learn from my failure... especially all of my grammatical errors.

This guy is sick of waiting to finally transform himself into a butterfly and be able to fly. Using some balloons he tries to take off from the ground and see the world from above ...

But obviously he miscalculated the correct size and number of balloons to get into the air. Try again or keep on waiting buddy! ;-)

My favourite animals are usually the inquisitive ones, those whose curiosity overcomes their caution. Yesterday morning in the vivid sunlight I saw this hare in a potato field; it ran away initially, but then returned and came very close for this portrait. I feel some kinship in curiosity; let's hope it doesn't ever fail us

This weeks message is "Go With the Flow"

A Taoist story tells of an old man who accidentally fell into the river rapids leading to a high and dangerous waterfall. Onlookers feared for his life. Miraculously, he came out alive and unharmed downstream at the bottom of the falls. People asked him how he managed to survive. "I accommodated myself to the water, not the water to me. Without thinking, I allowed myself to be shaped by it. Plunging into the swirl, I came out with the swirl. This is how I survived."

I had a different plan for this weeks photo, and it did not work out. I had this idea last night, and it also did not come out as planned. I became so frustrated with the details of the photo, and my inability to achieve the results I wanted, that i don't even remember what point i was trying to make. So, I begrudgingly accepted what I had and posted it. After sleeping on it the message became clear.

We cannot always control the events of our lives. even the little details tend to go awry. A zipper breaks, the road is closed, they are out of your flavor of ice cream, or you photo is not what you wanted. It is by accepting what comes our way, and going with it, that we will reach our destination.

So, I am not thrilled with the photo, but I get the message, and that is good.

Close up candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. A little too close as my lens failed to focus properly and his leading eye is a little soft in 1:1 view but I love the shot anyway. Enjoy!

Okay, a few weeks ago I purchased the last, fresh Velvia 50 roll left in the fridge at Camera's West on 4th Ave. I loaded it to my Olympus Pen EE-3 (half-frame) and shortly after took a few shots from my apartment and around the neighborhood.

Then, last week I took the camera with me *to Los Angeles and took a few more snapshots while out and about.

In total, I shot 38 out of the 72 exposures the half-frame would have rendered.

Two days ago I dropped it off to develop (negs and CD) and they told me slide film would take 2 weeks to process. Since I could not wait to see the results, I told them to cross process instead.

I picked it up this morning. Needless to say, the results are unexpected. :)

*When traveling with film cameras, try asking--nicely--for a hand inspection. It might not happen every time but it is worth giving it a go. On the trip to and from LA I requested a hand inspection of all my film and cameras and thankfully both TSA inspectors at Sea-Tac and Burbank agreed to do so, with a smile, and even a bit of camera/film chit chat. ;-)

If you ever wondered what Truck vs. Bridge looked like, here it is.

This had obviously just happened. The cops werent there yet. The poor guy was sitting in the cab on his cell phone, with a "I don't even know what happened" look on his face.

Sad, kind of. There's no way that this isn't a terminable offense.

Glass plate chipping and underexposed print... It's not completely failed, though, it has its charm :-).

Perhaps inspired by this morning's majestic dawn chorus, this Greylag with an identity crisis seemed to be attempting to give the surrounding blackbirds, robins & song thrushes a run for their money. Its attempts at mellifluous singing ended up sounding like, well, a goose trying to sing: awful!

This is a temporary upload & will self-destruct whenever I get round to it. :)

Lol this is why I don't wear anything in photos I've been at the point a while where I couldn't care less about what's on my body so long as I got working organs & a brain & w/e it's a chill place w a lot of bad shoes & socks combos

Pretty sure I've mentioned this on here before but it's something I've been feeling really frustrated with lately, that it's impossible to put your whole self online or communicate your whole self through a phone. Not that I'd ever want my whole self online, but I also don't want to come off as someone I'm not, does that make any sense? I don't want to omit something important.

Idk I feel like we try so hard to make connections but they miss or don't work out because who we're being really isn't us, or at least all of us. Basically I hate social networking blah blah but I need it to stay in touch with the people I love blah it's a necessary evil & I guess I gotta live with that blah.

(And also just a nod to the fact that if you're with someone or someones but everyone's on their phones that's not really being "with" anyone, at least physically. Everyone might as well just sit at home & stare at their laptop). IDk I dig this concept and I wish I had more time on my hands to do it better; maybe once the semester slows down a bit (hah) I'll redo it. Anyhow happy Thursday & I'll c yall w another upload tomorrow :)

66737 drags a disgraced 66714 and 4L20 through Trimley station on the 2nd June 2023. 66714 created chaos along the Felixstowe branch this morning having failed on the single track section between Derby Road and Gun Lane Junction, Trimley. GBRf classmate 66737 was sent from Felixstowe to rescue the consist to unblock the line. The pairing crawl through the station running 163 late, with delays hitting all services in and out of the port until late afternoon.

I suppose failed is a bit of a harsh phrase as I have plans to redo this in the future, but I wanted to post this just to kinda have a marker for where it started

You have to laugh, well I do anyway.

I think that there is a wondrous joke there somewhere, I would love to expose it.

It perhaps revolves around failed aspirations, those strivings far beyond one's own capabilities. It's still fun to try, regardless of obviously failing. Perhaps it's the striving that matters, that "fail again, fail better", as beautifully voiced by Beckett. That's an odd description of hope, using the parameters of hopelessness, that particular writer's speciality.

I am using the word 'matters' advisedly, 'as if' something does.

Time works 'right' and 'wrong' out. That, thankfully, is not our job.
