Jellyfish have been possibly around 700 million years or longer, before dinosaurs lived on the Earth.

Jellyfish bodies are actually made up of as much as ~98 % water.

Jellyfish have no heart, bones, brain, ears, noses or even

eyes(some have eyes).

Jellyfish mouth is found in the centre of its body, they use mouth for both eating and pooping.

Some Jellyfish's may never actually die (Theoretically Immortal!).

Some jellyfish are clear, but others are vibrant colours of pink, yellow, blue and purple.

Jellyfish produce their own light!

The sixteenth-century wing overlooks via della Mercanzia, with the façade entirely covered with frescoes by Raimondo Sirotti that follow those made at the beginning of the twentieth century by Ludovico Pogliaghi, who in turn had rebuilt, reinterpreting them, the original ones of the Tavarone.

The painted decoration of the facade reproduces a marble cladding with ashlar on the ground floor and pilasters that divide the façade into three sections. In the center of the façade, above the imposing marble entrance portal, stands the polychrome figure depicting St. George on horseback killing the dragon, a recurring image in numerous portals of the buildings of the historic center: in the Middle Ages the saint was in fact considered the very symbol of Republic. The subject was freely interpreted by Sirotti in 1990, having disappeared all traces of the seventeenth-century original. On the sides, from left to right, six bronze statues are painted inside false niches, depicting some historical figures of the Republic: the annalist Caffaro, the "Prince" Andrea Doria, the doge Simone Boccanegra (according to some the painting would instead depict the founder of the palace, Guglielmo Boccanegra), the crusader leader Guglielmo Embriaco known as "Head of a mallet", the navigator Christopher Columbus and finally the admiral Benedetto Zaccaria.

The decoration is completed by the figures of Janus and Neptune, also in fake bronze, and the coat of arms of the "Conservatori del Mare", the body in charge of governing the port at the time of the Republic of Genoa. The facade culminates with the clock tower.

This is one of my favourite hybrid tea roses from the Roxborough Park Rose Gardens at Baulkham Hills in north-western Sydney. I photographed this rose with my Canon 60D and a Canon 100mm macro lens, and I have now re-edited it more than three times!! I keep applying different filters, effects and frames.

But anyway, this is my contribution to Thursday, 16th July, 2020.

Note: The map keeps saying 'Castle Hill' but in fact it is in Baulkham Hills, Sydney.

Arriving at destination after a long, long flight. The landscape still looks arid, but in fact, we a reaching a wonderful city.

Amazing Facts About the Seagull

Seagulls are very clever. They learn, remember and even pass on behaviors, such as stamping their feet in a group to imitate rainfall and trick earthworms to come to the surface.

Seagulls’ intelligence is clearly demonstrated by a range of different feeding behaviors, such as dropping hard-shelled mollusks onto rocks so that they break open so they can eat them, and following plows in fields where they know upturned grubs and other food sources will be plentiful.

Seagulls are attentive and caring parents. The male and female pair for life and they take turns incubating the eggs, and feeding and protecting the chicks!.

This Luxe Paris Beatnik Dress with Shawl and Boots is a fresh and comfortable look. Aptly named, this delightful outfit reflects the influences of the artistic Beatnik style.

This style has been tremendously influential to the fashion world over the years. In fact, Yves Saint Laurent set its importance in his 1960 show for Christian Dior.

This outfit is now exclusively available at Swank Events for May ’22.

An interesting fact of Babimost is location the market sguare with town hall outside the current residential zone.

Originally, the wooden buildings of Babimost did not survive due to the fires several times consuming the city. It was not until the 1830s that masonry buildings were built, some of which have survived to this day.

-

In fact I went to that lake to watch cranes. While I was waiting for their return that picture draw my attention. The perfect reflection, the soft waves leading through the pictures diagonal and the soft light of the setting sun. Everything matched even without any cranes of the photograph.

Fun fact: In 1810, Alexander Wilson collected a warbler from a magnolia tree in Mississippi, giving it the English name "Black-and-yellow Warbler" and "magnolia" for the scientific species name, which became the common name over time.

Some facts: The ocelot, also known as the dwarf leopard, is a wild cat distributed extensively within South America including the islands of Trinidad and Margarita, Central America, and Mexico. It has been reported as far north as Texas. North of Mexico, it is found regularly only in the extreme southern part of Texas, although there are rare sightings in southern Arizona.

The ocelot is similar in appearance to a domestic cat. Its fur resembles that of a clouded leopard or jaguar and was once regarded as particularly valuable. As a result, hundreds of thousands of ocelots were once killed for their fur. The feline was classified as a vulnerable species from 1972 until 1996, and is now listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocelot

Well I've chosen this one for Macro Mondays theme "Black and white" was hard to choose! I like the grain in the aluminium and the fact it runs a different direction to the ring pull.

If you didn't know metal has a grain which affects it when it is being formed, one way bends easier than the other which makes a difference of about 1.5° for the same amount of pressure. Boring I know :)

Happy macro Monday all :)

This is the NZ native bird, the Kea. He is in fact a parrot and a very naughty one at that, responsible for many a car being damaged, due to their intelligence and curiosity. This one is in the Staglands Wildlife Sanctuary, one of my favourite places to visit in NZ. We fed him through the chicken wire and both my husband & I were given very sharp and painful nip with that very strong beak - ouch!

Take your pick.

Chinese tourist groups are easy to spot. Many, if not most have a unique baseball hat of bright colours. Our group from Canada included sizable percentage of Asian/Canadians, but none came from Hongkong, Taiwan or mainland China. I did not see people playing baseball, but many are wearing baseball hats. In fact, the only sports I have seen playing was badminton, tai-chi, sword swinging and also line-dancing is big. Given the fact that 90% of North American baseball hats are made in China and used for promoting anything from tooth paste to tractors, no wonder the Chinese adopted them.

There were several tourist groups, like this one from the far away Chinese provinces, at wide promenade of The Bund. The Bund, must see when in Shanghai, is actually collections of 50 historic buildings from the former British Concession on the west side of Huangpu River.

Water drops. As many of you that have been Flickr friends for a while will know water and rain drops are a fascination of mine. It’s been nice today even though it’s dry but cold and overcast to pop out to the garden to catch some drops.

I toyed with the idea of zooming in on the drop, it opted for the “bigger picture”. Interesting how bare the trees become at this time of year, knowing how full of growth they were back in the summer.

Thanks for stopping

Vyšehrad is the oldest seat of Czech princes; in fact, the local settlement was established in the mid-10 th century. Situated on a rocky promontory above the Vltava River, it offers stunning views of the city, and the park area holds hidden architectural treasures including the rare Romanesque Rotunda of St Martin, the neo-Gothic Church of Sts Peter and Paul, the national cemetery Slavín, and the underground casements housing the some of the original Baroque statues from the Charles Bridge.

WONDERFUL FACTS - What is the most powerful bird in the world?

The wild animal known to have been killed and carried away by a bird was a 15 pound male red howler monkey killed by a Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja) in Manu National Park, Peru in 1990.

The Harpy Eagle is considered the world's most powerful bird of prey, although it weighs only 20 pounds. 🐧

Happy birding 🐾

The Lorenz attractor is, without a doubt, the emblematic figure of chaos theory and probably one of the most popular mathematical figures. It was at the beginning of the 60s when the mathematician Edward Lorenz discovered in his laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston that small variations in the initial conditions of a system of differential equations that simulated the state of the climate in a certain region, produced large divergences in the results. What he had discovered is what later became known as the "Butterfly Effect": a flap of a butterfly's wings would be enough to trigger a cyclone. The Lorenz attractor is the representation in space, through numerical methods, of the solution curves of the system of three differential equations with three variables studied by Lorenz.

This is a photograph showing the Lorenz attractor generated with a simple code from the free software Octave.
