The Temple of Inscriptions is the most important monument of Palenque. The secret crypt with the tomb of Pakal I was discovered the 13th of June 1952 by the Mexican archaeologist Alberto Ruz Lhuilier. The name of the temple came from the three panels with hieroglyphs inscriptions from 692 AD, recounting the history of Palenque and the temple.
