After walking through the crowds of visitors along Grant Avenue on February 20, 2016 for the Chinese New Year Spring Festival, Melody and I walked up Columbus Avenue to Stockton Street, patronized a branch of our favorite bakery and headed for the Eastwind bookstore. Melody felt right at home. I did not understand any of the Chinese characters on the signs or book titles. I was intrigued enough with this eye chart and composed this photo to include the section identification of Medical Care. Some research indicates this eye chart was designed for use with illiterate people since they only have to indicate which way the Tumbling E is pointed - only four choices with no interpretation or knowledge of an alphabet or characters needed. Research did not reveal just who invented this eye chart. One article attributes it to a 1976 invention another written by Liuzhou Laowai credits the Chinese.

Eye checkup at Byers Eye Institute @ Stanford in Palo Alto today. All is well. Pressure still a little high in right eye, but keeping watch on it. Doctor thinks I might be in minority with normally higher pressure. Back in 3 months to check again. Trying to make sure I'm not a candidate for Glaucoma.

Happy to not have my eyes dilated again for another two years. Now to lie in bed with them closed until the world isn't blurry anymore.

This is part of an ongoing project. I thought it would be interesting to look around me and see what could be interpreted as faces in every day ordinary objects. My intention is to make people look twice and to see if they can figure out what these objects are :-) Please let me know if you have any suggestions or guesses! Feel free to check out my sets so you can see the photos as a collective.

I was going to post my usual shot of my food for the day, but I felt it was more momentous to capture getting contacts for the first time. It only took me about an hour, copious amounts of eye poking, and some leather restraints to finally get them in for the first time. It gave me a headache from hell, so I am a bit uncertain how I feel about them as of this point. I am barely recovering and have not tried them on again due to weird sleep schedules and possible complicating factors from my weekend.
