The Odunde Festival is a festival and mostly a street market in Philadelphia targeting African-American community and the African diaspora. It is derived from the tradition of the Yoruba people of Nigeria in celebration of the new year.
It is conveniently located just outside my home. A very colorful and lively event, with lots of performances and just good peoplewatching.
There are two things I love about this image. No, not what you thought. The single curving strand of hair and the incredible shadows of eyelashes. :-)
It was initially just this beautiful wavy grass that caught my attention...I was wondering if there could be an image there when the deer came wandering through....

Captured this on our recent trip to Costa Rica with Natures Tapestry Photo Adventure Tours !. It is quite colorful and does come in various colors. It is a venomous snake so
has to photograph with caution. It derived it's name because it actually looks like it has eyelashes !
We are leaving tomorrow for Namibia ,Africa so will be away from the computer until the middle of May. Will try to catch up with everyone then.

An addax spotted me while I was spotting her, creating a geometric face off. With eyelashes. :)
The addax aka white antelope or screwhorn antelope is critically endangered, and almost nonexistent in its native habitat of the Saharan desert and margins. Fortunately, they do ok in captivity, and Brookfield Zoo has a breeding program in place. They have been reintroduced in Morocco and Tunisia.

Taking a journey down memory lane to an amazing trip to Costa Rica back in 2017. I'm getting itchy feet to go back at some point soon - such an amazing place!

A mama moose teaching her little one how to feed from the bottom of the lake. The little one watched her very closely and dabbled a bit with dunking it's head but wasn't too sure of itself. So fun to watch...and of course, quite the sight to see the eyelash waterfalls every time mama would take a breather.

The crested gecko has hair-like projections found above the eyes, resembling eyelashes. It has a wedge-shaped head and a crest that runs from each eye to the tail. Crested geckos do not have eyelids and so they use their long tongues to moisten their eyes and remove debris. The toes and the tip of the semi-prehensile tail are covered in small hairs called setae.
