My first attempt at getting bokeh shapes. It involved wrapping LED lights in modelling clay so only a dot of light came out, then trying to position the lights so the dot would point directly at the camera.
If I try this again, I'm going to wrap them in electrical tape and poke them through a foam board for better light control.
HMM!
This wonderful morning was giving me the feeling that i was walking straight into a fairytale story.
I've cutted the image to panorama view, the grass below and the sky above wasn't giving anything extra to the image. The space on the left is a bit more as on the right keeping the coloring from the rising sun. I doubt a bit for making the image a bit brighter but i didn't. This is how it was.
Not particularly common for CP to run to Falconbridge in the morning, so shots like this with the yard 6 axles is relatively uncommon.
A wicked bolt during a May strong thunderstorm. Remastered for better white balance and clarity.

A CP Rail westbound extra rolls into great late afternoon lighting as SD40 5512 still in candy stripes is looking great here west of London, Ontario back on April 15, 1978.
CSX extra grain train B965 is seen approaching Stockport Creek on the Amtrak Hudson Line with the one bit of sun I saw all day and double rainbow providing an excellent backdrop.
I came upon this pretty creek on one of the back roads the other day. I was trying to figure out the fence configuration here. It would seem to be more practical to just run the fence straight along the road on which I am standing.
However, someone felt it was necessary to build the fence down the bank, around the tree and into the water as well. Why? Maybe they had extra fencing they wanted to use up. Whatever the reason, I am happy to have it in my Happy Fence Friday photo.

This rollover lasts just three or four seconds after being in the rest phase for between 6 and 10 minutes. A matter of patience to get it.

A western meadowlark adds some extra effort to boost its singing prowess. Based on the residue on the rock, this must be a favorite perch!
My wife and I just got back from an amazing trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was so wonderful to get out shooting and the critters did not disappoint as they were plentiful and willing subjects. Custer State Park has a wide variety of wildlife and is considered one of the top spots in the US for viewing this natural bounty.

For snowplow Sunday we find a eastbound plow extra with an RS18 and RS18R on Canadian Pacific eastbound approaching Woodstock, Ontario. The plows were kept in London, so this is the move to Woodstock to plow the line to Tillsonburg out of Woodstock - February of 1986.
The clouds have won the battle to block out the late day autumn sun, as Wisconsin & Southern grain extra Y302 approaches Eagle, heading for Janesville on the WSOR Waukesha sub.

Some of the vegetation in Washington state got singed from a 110F or higher heat wave in the Pacific northwest that happened a few weeks before I arrived. This is a fern along a trail in the Black Diamond Natural Area.

CSX X648-24 rolls north through Trenton, KY, 225 miles from Louisville, KY via Nashville, TN. The flared radiator SD70MAC (4758) leading was a nice touch, especially in this lighting.
Holidays are happy and magical but they can also be challenging for people going through some tough times, the struggles of loss, emotional and physical pain, or other hard-to-deal with issues....

Here a CPR plow extra pushed with a pair of snow hidden RS18's rolls out of Woodstock, Ontario on the St. Thomas subdivision, where at Ingersol it will turn south getting on the Port Burwell subdivision. Once on that sub she is headed for Tilsonburg and the large deep drifts located south of Ingersol on this line - February 1986.
