"Extinction Rebellion (abbreviated as XR) is a socio-political movement which uses nonviolent resistance to protest against climate breakdown, biodiversity loss, and the risk of human extinction and ecological collapse." (Wikipedia)
Extinction Rebellion supporters block the Brazilian Embassy in London, covering it in slogans and red paint, with some glueing themselves to the building in a protest against the growing number of environmental activists, land defenders and indigenous campaigners who have been murdered. Killings and environmental plunder have increased since the election of far-right President Bolsonaro.
The Global Witness annual report 'At What Cost?' shows that at least 207 land and environmental activists were killed in 2017 across 22 countries, almost 4 a week - indigenous leaders, community activists and environmentalists murdered trying to protect their homes and communities from mining, agribusiness and other destructive industries.
