On August 14, 2012, I had the opportunity to fly on a KC-10A Extender refuelling mission with the 78th Air Refuling Squadron of the 514th Air Mobility Wing of the U.S. Air Force Reserve. The flight, which had other reporters on board, was from New York JFK and actually boarded at Gate 12 in American Airlines' Terminal 8. The aircraft flew northeast to an area of military airspace off Cape Cod, where four F-15Cs of the 104th Fighter Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard. I got about three minutes next to the refueling-boom operator's position in the lower rear fuselage of the aircraft (reached by steep steps down) and a minute or two in the cockpit. From the boom operator's position I obtained both photos and video of an F-15C moving in and refueling, less than 20 feet away. As a military aircraft, the KC-10A has very few cabin windows (only one in each door and one on each side of the fuselage in mid-cabin), but from the ockpit and from the mid-fuselage window on the left side I was able to get some decent photos of F-15s formating on the KC-10's left wing. Judge Lucretia Clemons extended Mumia Abu-Jamal's appeal hearing for 60 to 90 days, to give the defense attorneys time to examine up to 200 boxes of potential evidence the District Attorney's office has held for 41 years.
Meanwhile, a rally outside the courthouse heard speakers raise issues common to many political prisoners in the US and Palestine
After the hearing ended, many of the participants marched in the streets to 21st and Chestnut where discussions were held on how to encourage more people, especially youth, to help free Mumia.
The Blade Chroma promises to be a game-changing aircraft. Horizon and Blade offer all in one Drone. The Chroma’s Li-Po battery can give to the Pilot a flight time around 30 minutes, on a single charge, making it the longest flying drone to date. This extended battery power gives the Pilot plenty of time to take advantage of the camera.
The CGO3 or CG02 are the Chroma centerpiece. These units combine a high definition camera and three-axis brushless stabilization gimbal, allowing to the Pilot capturing steady 4K or 1080p videos. These videos can be streamed to the ST10+ transmitter in real time, in addition to multiple IOS and Android devices with the free CGO app (these devices will require 802.11N Wi-Fi connectivity).
The Pilot can also use the camera to shoot 16MP photos from the sky with sharp detail. The CGO3’s resolution and frame rate is adjustable and the camera features a no-distortion lens, which removes the fisheye effect, all these camera controls easily accessible on the included ST-10+ radio. See all information about Blade Chroma Ready to Fly Drone: The RTF version of the Blade Chroma includes the Blade ST-10+ transmitter (manufactured by Yuneec) and different kinds of Camera and Gimbal types; It has everything the Pilot needs, including the camera controls and a touch-screen video display. See below: Large, 5,5 inch (140 mm) touch-screen display with intuitive Android interface; Displays live video and real-time telemetry info like speed, altitude and battery voltage; Clearly marked switches and buttons; Super-simple flight and camera controls; Slider switch for adjusting camera tilt; Slider switch for adjusting drone speed. SAFE Plus technology gives to the Pilot several flight modes that have been programmed to make smooth and steady images or videos. All flight modes feature self-leveling and use GPS and altitude sensors to precisely hold position. SAFE Plus technology will even land the aircraft for the Pilot if he/she activates the Return Home function. Flight Mode Features: A) Smart Mode - Perfect for beginners: Stick Relativity moves drone in whatever direction the control stick is pushed, no matter which way the nose is pointed. It creates a safe circle barrier that prevents the aircraft from flying too close to the Pilot. The Blade Chroma auto-holds it position and altitude when control sticks are released; B) AP Mode - For more experienced drone pilots: Responds like a conventional drone without Stick Relativity. It gives to the Pilot greater control authority by turning off the safe circle. Keeps control response smooth so panning and tracking shots look great. It auto holds position and altitude when control sticks are released; C) Follow Me Mode – Works as a built-in copilot: Frees the Pilot to focus on lining up the shot. Pan and tilt the camera while the drone follows the Pilot. Drone follows at an altitude and distance the Pilot sets;D) Tracking Mode: The Blade Chroma follows and keeps the camera pointed at whoever holds the ST-10+ controller. The Drone follows at an altitude and distance the Pilot sets; E) Return Home Mode: Returns the Blade Chroma to its start-up point and lands it for the Pilot. It’s great for first-time flyers who aren’t ready to land themselves. It’s also an easy way to regain visual contact if the Pilot loses sight in flight. Resume full control at any time. It is activated automatically if controller signal is lost; F) Flight Boundaries Mode: Keeps the Blade Chroma within altitude and distance limits the Pilot defines. It’s easily adjustable using the Chroma programmer. Helps the Pilot avoid sensitive airspace and neighbors. SPECIFICATIONS: Battery: 11.1V 3S 5400mAh Li-Po (6300mah also available); Completion Level: Ready-to-Fly; Weight: 1.3 Kg (45.9 oz); Main Motor Type: Brushless Outrunner; Approximate Flight Time: 30 minutes. CG02 (Full HD) Camera: Dimension: 11.5 x 13.5 x 7.4 cm (4.5 x 1.4 x 2.9 inches); Weight: 185 grams (6.5 oz.); Focusing System Aerial Optimized Fixed Focus: field of View130°; Video Transmission Range FCC Compliance: up to 600 meters (1968.5 feet); CE Compliance: up to 300 meters (984.252 feet) with ST10; Video Resolution FULL HD 1080p, adjustable to 60, 50 or 48 FPS; Photo Resolution 12 Megapixels; Control Angle Accuracy: ±0.02°; Storage (memory) micro SD Card, Class 10, 4 to 128 GB; White Balance: automatic white balance; Transmission Band: 5.8 GHz; Operating Voltage: 7.0 volts to 14.0 volts DC; Working Temperature: 0 °C – 50 °C; Storage Temperature: -20 ℃ to 60 ℃; Angular Vibration Range: ±0.02°; Control Range Pitch: between -90° and 0°, Yaw: between 0° and 360°. CGO3 (4K) Camera with ultra high-definition (UHD) resolution, four times higher than HD, the camera deliver high-quality images with the ability to capture slow motion 1080p, 120 fps and 12 megapixel photos. It captures in 4K with incredible detail and unparalleled realism; Personal Ground Station with Built-in touchscreen; Integrated 3-axis precision gimbal camera; 4K / 30 fps ultra high definition video; 1080p / 120 fps slow motion video; Transmission Band: 5.8 GHz; Operating Voltage: 7.0 volts to 14.0 volts DC; User controlled video resolution, White balance and light exposure; 12 Megapixel Photos with No-Distortion lens; Handheld SteadyGrip for capturing video footage. The headline fact is simple and dramatic: 4K deliver four times as much detail as 1080p (Full HD). It means that 4K shows image in eight million pixels compared to Full HD which shows in two million pixels image. The image clarity is more fine details, greater texture and an almost photographic emulsion of smoothness. Following the Flight of the Earls in 1607, the Plantation of Ulster saw this area of Donegal granted to Sir Basil Brooke, who rebuilt and extended Donegal Castle.
About this time a manor was also constructed on the shores of Lough Eske by Scottish settlers, a corner stone at the manor was later noted to have been inscribed with the date 1621. In the first half of the nineteenth century, the Brooke family estates were passed to Thomas Young (who changed his name to Thomas Brooke) of Lough Eske Manor, through marriage with the heiress to the estate, Jane Grove.
Thomas first bulilt a new Church of Ireland called Christ Church on the southern shore of the Lake in 1846, before hiring the Derry architect Fitzgibbon Louch to completely redesign the existing manor house; the result was a grand Elizabethan-style residence finished in 1868 which became known as Lough Eske Castle. The castle was sold at the end of the century and later became a guest house; by the mid-twentieth century it was in a state of ruin, but was reopened as the Solis Lough Eske Hotel in December 2007.
Meanwhile, the Church constructed in 1846 is still used as the parish church.
Christ Church, Lough Eske belongs to the Church of Ireland Diocese of Derry and Raphoe and the church belongs to the Donegal, Killymard, Lough Eske and Laghey grouping.

Soldiers from the Overwatch Battle Group (West) and Force Extraction Team (FET) have loaded dozens of vehicles and shipping containers for return to Australia’s Force Level Logistic Asset in the Middle East.
Retrained Iraqi forces took over responsiblity for security in Al Muthanna and Dhi Qar provinces some months ago, and the Australians have now handed over their "overwatch" role to US troops.
Although the Diggers will soon be home their legacy will be benefiting local Iraqis for years to come. The Australian Battle group has project-managed over 180 projects . They include new or renovated school buildings, sporting facilities and community parks, water and irrigation projects, rural projects to help with crop and livestock production, health clinics and power supply initiatives.
Water purification is particularly important as water-borne diseases can still be a major killer - especially of young children.
Mandu or Mandavgad is a ruined city in the present-day Mandav area of the Dhar district. It is located in the Malwa region of western Madhya Pradesh, India, at 35 km from the Dhar city. In the 11th century, Mandu was the sub division of the Tarangagadh or Taranga kingdom. This fortress town on a rocky outcrop about 100 km from Indore is celebrated for its fine architecture.
HISTORY
The earliest reference to Mandu is available in the Sanskrit inscription of 555 AD, which tells that Mandu was a fortified city even in the 6th century BC. It gained prominence in 10th and 11th century under the Parmars (who called it Mandavgarh), from whom the control was snatched by Khiljis in 1305. Then ruler Allauddin Khilji named Mandav as "Shadiabad" meaning the city of happiness (Anand Nagari), after the name of princess Mandvi Chouhan of Khandwa. The town of Mandu, situated at an elevation of 633 metres, is perched on the Vindhya Range extending for 13 km while overlooking the plateau of Malwa to the north and the valley of the Narmada River to the south, which acted as natural defences for the fort-capital of Rajput Parmara rulers of Malwa, who originally built it. Towards the end of the 11th century, it came under the sway of the Taranga kingdom.
In the 10th century Mandu was founded as a fortress retreat by Raja Bhoj, but was conquered by the Muslim rulers of Delhi in 1304. According to famous legends of Nimar, the area covering Mandu, Narmada Valley and Katanera was ruled by Gautami Ahir in 14th century before it came into the hands of Muslims. When Timur captured Delhi in 1401, the Afghan Dilawar Khan, governor of Malwa, set up his own little kingdom and the Ghuri dynasty was established, and thus began Mandu's golden age. His son, Hoshang Shah, shifted the capital from Dhar to Mandu and raised it to its greatest splendour. His son and third and last ruler of Ghuri dynasty, Mohammed, ruled for just one year till his poisoning by the militaristic Mohammed Khalji.
Mohammed Khalji established the Khalji dynasty and went on to rule for the next 33 years. He was succeeded by his son, Ghiyas-ud-din, in 1469 and ruled for the next 31 years, who was a pleasure seeker and devoted himself to women and song. He had a large harem and built the Jahaz Mahal for housing the women, numbering thousands, of his harem. Ghiyas-ud-din was poisoned, aged 80, by Nasir-ud-din, his own son.
In 1526, Mahmud II the sixth Khalji ruler made no resistance against the invading Bahadur Shah of Gujarat who conquered Mandu 28 March 1531. In 1530 Humayun, the second Mughal Emperor, succeeded Babur. Babur had established the Mughal dynasty. Humayun had two major rivals: Bahadur Shah of Gujarat and Sher Shah Suri. Humayun was engaged in a war with Sher Shah Suri when he learned of an imminent attack by Bahadur Shah of Gujarat who was being aided by the Portuguese. With an unusual swiftness Humayun attacked and defeated Bahadur Shah. Thus in 1534 Mandu came under Humayun's rule. Humayun fancied Mandu so he relaxed here for a brief, peaceful interlude Humayun lost the kingdom to Mallu Khan, an officer of the Khalji dynasty. Ten more years of feuds and invasions followed and in the end Baz Bahadur emerge in the top spot.
By this time Humayun had been defeated by Sher Shah Suri and had fled India. Sher Shah Suri died in 1545 and his son Islam Shah died in 1553. Islam Shah's 12-year-old son Feroz Khan became the king but was killed by Adil Shah Suri within 3 days. Adil Shah appointed Hemu, also known as 'Hemu Vikramaditya' as his Chief of Army and Prime Minister. Hemu had a rapid rise during Sur regime. A grain supplier to Sher Shah Suri's army and then Chief of Intelligence or Daroga-i-Chowki (Superintendent of Post) under Islam Shah, he became the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Afghan Army (Sher Shah Suri's army) under the reign of Adil Shah Suri. Adil Shah Suri was an incompetent ruler and many rebellions occurred against his rule. Hemu was sent to quell these rebellions. During this period Hemu attacked Mandu also and Baz Bahadur ran away from Mandu. Hemu appointed his own Governor here. During this period Humayun had returned to India and in 1555 was again the emperor. In 1556 Humayun died after falling while descending a staircase.
Hemu was in Bengal at the time and sensing an opportunity attacked Mughals. Soon Agra, Bihar, Eastern UP, Madhya Pradesh were all won and on 6 October 1556 he won Delhi, defeating Akbar's forces, and had his coronation at Purana Quila, the next day. Akbar defeated and killed Hemu in the second Battle of Panipat on 7 November 1556. In 1561, Akbar's army led by Adham Khan and Pir Muhammad Khan attacked Malwa and defeated Baz Bahadur in the battle of Sarangpur on 29 March 1561. One of the reasons for Adham Khan's attack seems to be his love for Rani Roopmati. Rani Roopmati poisoned herself to death on hearing the news of fall of Mandu. Baz Bahadur fled to Khandesh. Akbar, soon recalled Adham Khan and made over command to Pir Muhammad. Pir Muhammad attacked Khandesh and proceeded up to Burhanpur but he was defeated by a coalition of three powers: Miran Mubarak Shah II of Khandesh, Tufal Khan of Berar and Baz Bahadur. Pir Muhammad died while retreating. The confederate army pursued the Mughals and drove them out of Malwa. Baz Bahadur regained his kingdom for a short period. In 1562, Akbar sent another army led by Abdullah Khan, the Uzbeg, which finally defeated Baz Bahadur. He fled to Chittor. Baz Bahadur remained a fugutive at a number of courts till he surrenedered in November, 1570 to Akbar at Nagaur. He joined Akbar's service.
After Akbar added Mandu to the Mughal empire, it kept a considerable degree of independence, until taken by the Marathas in 1732 by Peshwa Baji Rao I. The capital of Malwa was then shifted back to Dhar by Marathas under Maharaja Pawar, re-establishing Hindu rule.
PLACES OF INTEREST
Mandu, due to its strategic position and natural defences, was an important place with a rich and varied history. It was an important military outpost and its military past can be gauged by the circuit of the battlemented wall, which is nearly 37 km and is punctuated by 12 gateways. The wall encloses a large number of palaces, mosques, Jain temples of 14th century and other buildings. The oldest mosque dates from 1405; the finest is the Jama Masjid or great mosque, a notable example of Pashtun architecture. The marble domed tomb of this ruler is also magnificent
Some of the notable places are:
THE DARWAZAS/GATES
The wall encompassing Mandu has 12 major gates or darwazas. The present road, through which Mandu is reached passes through many of these. Also encountered are smaller gateways built to provide protection to the above-mentioned 12 gates.
JAHAZ MAHAL/SHIP PALACE
Situated between two artificial lakes, this two storied architectural marvel is so named as it appears as a ship floating in water. Built by Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din-Khilji, it served as a harem for the sultan.
HINDOLA MAHAL
Hindola Mahal - meaning Swing palace is so named due to its sloping side walls. The Hindola Mahal might have been constructed during the reign of Hushang Shah about 1425 C.E. but may date to the end of the 15th century during the reign of Ghiyas al-Din. It is one of a set buildings making up the royal palace complex at Mandu, which consists of the Jahaz Mahal, the Hindola Mahal, the Tawili Mahal, and the Nahar Jharokha. The Hindola Mahal may have been used as an audience chamber. There are a number of other, undated structures surrounding the palace - an evidence of the rich and glorious past.
HOSHANG SHAH`S TOMB
India's first marble structure, it is one of the most refined examples of Afghan architecture. Its unique features include the beautifully proportioned dome, intricate marble lattice work and porticoed courts and towers. It served as a template for the construction of Taj Mahal.
JAMI MASJID
Inspired by the great mosque of Damascus, this humongous structure is striking in both its simplicity and architectural style-with large courtyards and grand entrances.
REWA KUND
A reservoir constructed by Baz Bahadur for the purpose of supplying water to Rani Roopmati's Pavilion. The reservoir is situated below the pavilion and hence is considered an architectural marvel.
ROOPMATI`S PAVILION
A large sandstone structure originally built as an army observation post it is known today as Roopmati's Pavilion. Rani Roopmati - the love interest of Baaz Bahadur lived here and is said to have gazed at the Baz Bahadur's Palace - situated below and also at Narmada river, flowing through the Nimar plains far below, a river which the queen revered.
BAZ BAHADUR`S PALACE
Built by Baz Bahadur, this 16th-century structure is famous for its large courtyards encompassed by large halls and high terraces. It is situated below Roopmati's Pavilion and can be seen from the pavilion.

The Postcard
A postally unused carte postale published by the Cairo Postcard Trust of Cairo. The card was printed in Italy.
The card is postally unused, but there is a pencilled message on the back, despite there being no recipient's name and address. It is likely that the card was posted via the British Army Post Office, and that the sender was a member of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force - a British Empire military formation, created on the 10th. March 1916.
The pencilled message which extended across the divided back of the card was as follows:

Heliopolis, Cairo
Heliopolis was an early 20th. Century suburb built outside Cairo, Egypt, which has since merged with Cairo and is administratively divided into the districts of Masr El Gedida and El Nozha in the Eastern Area.
The suburb was named after the ancient Egyptian city of Heliopolis, whose ruins have been found nearby in present day Ain Shams.
Modern Heliopolis was established in 1905 by the Heliopolis Oasis Company headed by the Belgian industrialist Édouard Empain and by Boghos Nubar, son of the Egyptian Prime Minister Nubar Pasha.
The population in January 2022 of Masr El Gedida was estimated to be 142,000 and in El-Nozha was 245,000 people.
History of Heliopolis
Édouard Louis Joseph, 1st. Baron Empain visited Egypt in January 1904 in order to rescue one of the projects of his company S.A. des Chemins de Fer de la Basse-Egypte.
The project was the construction of a railway line linking Mansourah (on the Nile river) to Matariya (on the far side of Lake Manzala from Port Said).
In 1906, Empain established the Cairo Electric Railways and Heliopolis Oases Company, which bought 2,500 ha (6,177 acres) of desert around 10km to the northeast of Cairo in order to build the semi-autonomous garden city of Heliopolis.
The new town represented the first large-scale attempt to promote its own architecture, known now as the Heliopolis style.
It was designed as a "city of luxury and leisure", with broad avenues, and it was equipped with all conveniences and infrastructure: water, drains, and electricity.
There were also hotel facilities, such as the Heliopolis Palace Hotel and Heliopolis House, and recreational amenities including a golf course, racetrack and park.
In addition, there was housing for rent, offered in a range of innovative designs targeting specific social classes with detached and terraced villas, apartment buildings, tenement blocks with balcony access, and workers' bungalows.
While Heliopolis had features that were fundamentally different from the colonial planning in other African and Asian countries, it was an undertaking that could not have been more colonial.
The project was the expression of a dream of one man, the Belgian Edouard Empain, and the buildings were designed by Belgian, French and British architects and, in the beginning, built with materials brought from these countries.
Although there is no ‘cordon sanitaire’, there are some more implicit structures that made a more subtle segregation in the city possible.
Baron Empain's palace was designed by Alexander Marcel, a French architect and a member of the French Institute, according to a Neo Hindu style modelled on Angkor Wat in Cambodia and the Hindu temples of Orissa.
The neighborhood had some of the wealthiest Egyptian residences; on the left facing Avenue Baron was the Arabesque palace of Boghos and Marie Nubar Pasha, now a military headquarters.
Diagonally opposite stands the former residence of Sultan Hussein Kamel, who reigned over Egypt between 1914 and 1917. Today, it is a presidential guest house.
The Heliopolis War Cemetery on Nabil el Wakkad street contains the Port Tewfik Memorial, a memorial to over 4,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who fell in the Great War.
The memorial was originally in Port Tewfik in Suez, but was relocated to Heliopolis after its destruction in the 1970's.
Heliopolis was originally filled primarily with aristocratic Egyptians, as well as some European nationals. Unlike other modern Cairene suburbs around the start of the 20th. century, Heliopolis had a significantly larger percentage of Egyptian citizen residents.
After the 1952 revolution led by Nasser, it became home to much of Cairo's educated middle class. As Cairo expanded, the once large distance between Heliopolis and Cairo has vanished, and it is now well inside the city.
Because of the large growth in population, the original gardens that filled the city have mostly been built over.
Heliopolis contains recreational amenities, as it was initially established to offer its residents and visitors rest and relaxation. Heliopolis club is one of the most luxurious sporting clubs in Egypt. It was established along with Heliopolis in 1905.
From 1911 until 1915, Heliopolis had Luna Park, Africa's first amusement park (the grounds were converted into an Australian field hospital just after the onset of the Great War).
The Merryland is also a famous recreational park; it contains a lake, and was at the height of its elegance in the 1960's and 70's. It now contains a small amusement park.
The City Stars Mall is one of the biggest and best-known shopping malls in Egypt and the Middle East.
The Death on the Somme of Alan Seeger
So what else happened on the day that Joe wrote the card?
Well, on Tuesday the 4th. July 1916, Alan Seeger, American poet and soldier, and uncle to folk singer Pete Seeger, was killed at the age of 28 at Belloy-en-Santerre during the Battle of the Somme.
Alan Seeger is sometimes called the 'American Rupert Brooke'. He is best known for the poem 'I Have a Rendezvous with Death', a favourite of President John F. Kennedy.
The poem proved to be highly prophetic. Here it is:
'I Have a Rendezvous With Death'
'I have a rendezvous with Death
At some disputed barricade,
When Spring comes back with rustling shade
And apple-blossoms fill the air—
I have a rendezvous with Death
When Spring brings back blue days and fair.
It may be he shall take my hand
And lead me into his dark land
And close my eyes and quench my breath—
It may be I shall pass him still.
I have a rendezvous with Death
On some scarred slope of battered hill,
When Spring comes round again this year
And the first meadow-flowers appear.
God knows ’twere better to be deep
Pillowed in silk and scented down,
Where love throbs out in blissful sleep,
Pulse nigh to pulse, and breath to breath,
Where hushed awakenings are dear...
But I’ve a rendezvous with Death
At midnight in some flaming town,
When Spring trips north again this year,
And I to my pledged word am true,
I shall not fail that rendezvous'.
This is a photograph from the Ringtown Hurling Club Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races, fun runs, and walks which were held in Whitehall, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Easter Monday (April 6th 2015) at 11:00 and 11:15 respectively. Ringtown Hurling club is situated in Whitehall which is on the R394 between Mullingar and Castlepollard. The half marathon started outside the GAA club. The 10KM race started about 1KM away from the start/finish area. Both races shared the same route. The race event was also a fundraiser for the charity TEAM (Temporary Emergency Accomodation Mullingar) which provides emergency accomodation for women and children of the midlands who are subject of domestic and sexual violence. They are located at Teach Fáilte, Green Road, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. 55 participants took part in the Half marathon while approximately 85 participants took part in the 10KM.

The half marathon started at the GAA club. The main loop of 6 miles started here at the GAA club and proceeded around some beautiful rural back roads with major turns at [goo.gl/maps/8Iw9S], [goo.gl/maps/in6yE], and [goo.gl/maps/JJzwM] before joining up with the R394 and Castlepollard and returning back to Ringtown/Whitehall. The 10KM race was held on this same route but having departed before the half marathon the participants were mostly infront of the main field in the half marathon.
This was the GAA club's second hosting of this event and the overwhelming reaction of participants was that it went perfectly again following on from last year's very successful event. There was a team of Motorcycle outriders and Gardai who expertly controlled traffic flow (particularly along the very busy R394) and made for very safe running conditions for all participants. There was a wonderful selection of refreshments provided afterwards and maybe people were able to sit out in the sun and enjoy a well earned rest after the race. Shower facilities were provided in the GAA club.

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets
None of the clamps in my shop could clear the outer rim of the shield to hold the wood inserts in place during glue up, so I fashioned these clamp extensions out of some scrap 1x1 to do the job. Worked great!

You know what they say about “an Apple a day”?
This was a board that I took a great deal of fun in putting together. I really wanted to give some vintage Alps switches a try, so when I saw an old AEKII from Australia, and a ALPS64 PCB kit up for sale, I knew it was meant to be.
I had seen several people do similar things with Apple boards from the 80s and 90s, but I wasn't sold on the cases that they had used. The ADK64 was directly inspired by the Apple boards of yester year; from the shape and angle, to the badge placement, and I couldn't have found a better choice. The wee Apple badge in the top left was harvested from the same board that the keycaps and switches came from. With the case being 3D printed, it has some lines from the process across it, at some point I do want to have a crack at smoothing them out via an acetone vapour bath, but that's still a wee ways off yet; I'd hate to ruin the board like a chump.
Nothing special about the switches here. The Alps switches are a type that I have had little experience with, but from what I have seen (or felt), they are super smooth out of the factory, and have really nice tactility. I'd love to get my hands on some vintage Alps linears at some point, as I imagine they could only be better.
The plate here I designed myself and had it cut through Ponoko. I set it up with some of my favourite features for a 60% board, and even added an Alps logo under the spacebar just for a bit more character.
The keycaps were all or nothing, and I was stoked to have been able to fine a board that was in as good a condition as the donor here was. There are a couple of oddities, like the “Home' and “Page Up” placement, and the “Backslash” is actually “Backspace”. That's the downside with having a sculpted profile keyset, each row is a different profile and shape, so sometimes you just have to make do. I cleaned up the caps as best as I could, and the yellowed spacebars is only due to it being made from a different type of plastic Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene
(ABS, think LEGO) and the rest of them from Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT); ABS tends to yellow from exposure to sunlight, and PBT is a lot more durable in many ways, you can “fix” it in a number of ways, but I like the character it adds.
The cable is just some nice complementing colours, and the sleeve is also just for fun; can never say no to those guys.
For all you Apple purists, the AEKII was from a time where as a company, they were helping pave the way, and I'm more than happy to have a part of that in my collection. These days, some of you know that I can't stand Apple, so this is almost like me flipping them the ole middle finger.

Flight by helicopter (of the Kazakh army) around the highest peaks of theTien Shan mountains in the east of Kyrgyzstan, near the border with China and Kazakhstan.
The Tien Shan Mountains – is the largest mountain range in Asia, in surface area; length (2800km); and width (at one point reaching 800 km wide) – with a total of 40 peaks over 6000m.
It stretches across several countries and about much of the system lies in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic . Extending over 2800km from the Chatkal range just East of Tashkent to Urumchi, (beyond which it rises again as the Bogdo Ola Range), they are usually described as being divided into Northern, Western, Eastern, Central and Inner ranges and most of them exhibit typical “alpine” features. It is the central portion, south-east of Lake Issyk-kul which contains the very high mountain peaks such as Khan Tengri and Peak Pobeda, closely grouped together along ridges that stretch east-to-west. The area surrounding the Enilchek Glacier has two peaks over 7000 meters, Pobeda and Khan Tengri – more about them is later), 23 higher than 6000 meters including 3 virgin peaks – and 80 more peaks between 5000 and 6000 meters including 14 virgin peaks. The range is made up of sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks. The existence of this great range, (also known as the “ Celestial Mountains ”), has been known since ancient times. Despite the records and observations recorded by many early travellers, however, until the expeditions of the Russian geographer and explorer Peter Semyenov in the mid-nineteenth century, the Tien Shan Mountains remained “more legend than fact”. (Semyenov was granted the honorary title of “Tienshansky” by the Tsar for his exploits), In fact the southern fringes of the system were first described by the Buddhist monk Hsuan Tsang in the seventh century BC, who wrote of 'encountering nothing but ice and snow. The snow falls both in summer and springtime. Night and day the wind rages violently'. They also would have been visible to Marco Polo who (if we believe his account) travelled in along this route in 1273, with his father and uncle.
