Emotional Expressions , JOy and Gaiety Seen During CTM - Chennai Trail Marathon Held on 07th sep 2014 in chennai
Nemon is a very statuesque and eccentric person - very nice and lots of fun to be around. Many of the events where I took some of my best goth portraits took place at his house.
I felt it high time that I begin to post some pics from the series of gothic portraits I did in 2000. It began as an assignment for Photography II - the teacher wanted us to do a series of something. Then I recalled an event where there were swarms of fascinating people who referred to themselves as "gothic". I truly admired their individuality and thought that it would make for an interesting series, so I began going to gothic events and asking some of them if I could photograph them. Subsequently, I began to interview them to find out more about them. I found that for the most part, they were very sweet, friendly and artistic, and more than eager to pose for me. They turned out to be such wonderful models, and the photos were very striking! In fact of all the work I had presented to my teacher, he singled out this series and said "that is what you should be doing". He and my fellow students felt the photos were very powerful. He ended up giving me one of the three spots in his student photography show. Thirteen of my pieces were on display. I had many more, but they had to be edited down due to lack of space. I truly enjoyed going to these events, and found I had a bit of a wild streak in me. I loved the music and the setting...I miss it, and am planning on picking up this series once again. I felt it fitting that this series be called "The Individuals".

I've always been fascinated by how quickly facial expressions change and the complexity of the emotions we can convey using the muscles in our faces. It is the language actors use to tell a story and the thing that photographers try to capture in a split second.
I discovered that many times the expressions of the people around the subject are even more interesting.....a few of those pics......
One of the villagers family in the various villages in Singalila National Park was heading their way down towards Chitrey when I saw this kid with his parent. The expression of his eyes was too attractive to miss.

A shared initiative with ACCESS Academies’ Succeeding with Reading program, this project will involve Chicago-based artist and 2010 Whitney Biennial participant Theaster Gates, whose neighborhood-inspired work celebrates culture and promotes social inclusion. St. Louis artists Stewart Halperin, Janie Ibur, and Juan William Chávez will guide students from Holy Trinity Elementary School in explorations of their daily lives using photography, writing, and art.

Jeff made a big stickie on Jonathan's computer, that took him 3 months to find, until this photo was taken.
“Now,young lady,I suppose you're here for a work assignment."
Work?" Tally said.
They both looked down at her puzzled expression, and Shay burst into laughter.”

Playing along the River Ganges, this kid is one of the most brilliant I met on my travels - doesn't speak much, but who needs to speak when you've got a mischievous and genuine smile like that?

This young Vermont couple appear to be upper middle class. He looks very self confident, or even smug. But she, on the other hand, fingering her beaded necklace and looking slightIy askance at the camera, is harder to read. Is she nervous? Aloof? Suspicous or doubtful of the photographic outcome?
