Beginning with the arrival of our generously donated charter flights by presenting sponsor American Airlines with all volunteer flight crews from all over the country, the families were taken by Greyhound motor coach and Patriot Guard escort to our host hotel, the Hilton Anatole Dallas. The hotel was filled with activities in the Teen and children lounges, and in the Gallo family lounge for the adults.
Day one began with our police and patriot guard escort to Fort Worth, completely shutting down highway 30 with a 48 school bus precession. Firefighters from Arlington lined the overpasses to wave and salute our families!
After arriving in Fort Worth, the annual Walk of Gratitude was held at the famous Fort Worth Stock Yards. The families were then treated to the Pawnee Bill Wild West Show at the Cowtown Coliseum. From there our families were taken to the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base for a private concert by Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band in a Hangar on base. Gary put on a great show as always for the families and then handed out teddy bears for all the children. Food was provided by Texas Land and Cattle, and prepared with the help of Chef Robert Irvine.
Day 2 included a fun day at four separate game centers around DFW. That evening everyone enjoyed a great dinner and entertainment at Medieval Times Show & Dinner.
The third day included our annual Talent Showcase presented by the Texas Music Project, followed by another amazing closing show by our Chief Fun Officer, David Hira.

The Lifeline Express train makes a stop at a station in Shivpuri, in the Madhya Pradesh region of India, March 2007. The Lifeline Express train visits rural and remote areas of India delivering surgical care to the poor. The train can deliver up to 800 life changing surgeries each month and has operated on 400,000 Indians since it's launch in 1993. The surgeons in the train's operating theatre can treat disablement caused by polio, cleft palates, blindness and hearing disabilities. More than 70,000 medical personnel from India's leading hospitals have donated their time.
It is estimated that more than 10 percent of the developing world's population suffers from some form of disability; more than 600 million people live with some form of disablement. UNICEF has estimated that 150 million children are disabled or killed by preventable diseases.
Impact India, which runs the Lifeline Express, is one of 17 Impact foundations around the world.

The 1982 Honda Urban Express has a maximum load limit of 180 lbs. I weigh about 160. Nasty weighs in at 240. Here's Nasty Nate riding it full tilt (at the time, 25mph) down the street. Not pictured, both Nasty and I on the bike together. Yup. 400 pounds on a bike rated for 180. More than twice the limit. And we got up to 25 regardless. Woohoo! (If only that didn't wreak havoc with the shocks)

Bleary eyed from the 20:30 redeye from Sydney to Tokyo, I stumbled into Starbucks and through my newly arrived in Japan for the first time ever baka-gaijin ways managed to unintentionally order an iced coffee. It was delicious. I ordered two. It gave me just the perk-up I needed to make my way to the station and summon the motivation to take this rather ordinary photo of the Narita Express.

The Pony Express Stables seen here is the original starting location of the famous Pony Express. The very first westbound rider left these stables through this large door at 7:15 PM on April 3rd, 1860. Ten days later, the mochila (the pouch containing the mail) arrived in California. Thus began one of the more intriguing mail delivery systems the United States has ever seen.
If you visit, there is a museum located here. This area is ripe with interesting museums. Nearby is a museum inside the home of Jesse James, where he was famously killed. The Patee House, a 140-room luxury hotel built just prior to the start of the Pony Express, was once one of the more popular hotels West of the Mississippi. And across down is the Glore Museum, a famous museum of psychiatric medicine that was once listed as one of the 100 places to visit before you die.

Beginning with the arrival of our generously donated charter flights by presenting sponsor American Airlines with all volunteer flight crews from all over the country, the families were taken by Greyhound motor coach and Patriot Guard escort to our host hotel, the Hilton Anatole Dallas. The hotel was filled with activities in the Teen and children lounges, and in the Gallo family lounge for the adults.
Day one began with our police and patriot guard escort to Fort Worth, completely shutting down highway 30 with a 48 school bus precession. Firefighters from Arlington lined the overpasses to wave and salute our families!
After arriving in Fort Worth, the annual Walk of Gratitude was held at the famous Fort Worth Stock Yards. The families were then treated to the Pawnee Bill Wild West Show at the Cowtown Coliseum. From there our families were taken to the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base for a private concert by Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band in a Hangar on base. Gary put on a great show as always for the families and then handed out teddy bears for all the children. Food was provided by Texas Land and Cattle, and prepared with the help of Chef Robert Irvine.
Day 2 included a fun day at four separate game centers around DFW. That evening everyone enjoyed a great dinner and entertainment at Medieval Times Show & Dinner.
The third day included our annual Talent Showcase presented by the Texas Music Project, followed by another amazing closing show by our Chief Fun Officer, David Hira.

Snowball Express XI was a great success as we welcomed nearly 1800 children and families of our fallen military heroes to Dallas for a week full of activities!
