The Pompidou Centre-Metz and Mudam Luxembourg are collaborating on EST EXPRESS: for 3 days, the public is invited to a festive and unusual experience of the museums, through concerts, performances, workshops and visits, which will go from one institution to the other. The event will begin at the Pompidou Centre-Metz on Friday and will continue there on Saturday during the day before transfering to Mudam on Saturday evening and Sunday. It will offer the opportunity to discover, in parallel with the current exhibitions, the Norimizu Ameya experimental theatre, the dance performances of Min Tanaka and Jonah Bokaer, the musical show by ICHI and Rachael Dadd and the unclassifiable Cosmo-ball by Emmanuelle Vo-Dinh.

The suppression of Catholicism in England from 1559 onward prompted some Catholic clergy to relocate to the European mainland and there establish places of learning where young men could, in conditions of relative safety and security, be trained for the priesthood. The English College at Douai, in Flanders, began to receive students from England in 1568, and by 1603 had sent back nearly 500 newly-ordained priests to minister in secret to the Catholic laity at home. Thomas Penswick was 16 when he arrived there from Garswood on 26 January 1788, and John just 12 years old when he followed on 30 November 1790. Both would be caught up in the events of the French Revolution, which led eventually to the expulsion of masters and students from the College in 1793.
Although Douai did not cater exclusively for those seeking ordination -P R Harris observes in his introduction to “Douai College Documents 1693-1797”, CRS Record Series No. 63 (1972), that “about 75% of Douai's students during this period did not proceed to the priesthood, which demonstrates the important part which Douai played in educating the English Catholic laity”- I can find no evidence that the oldest brother, Randolph Penswick, also attended. The explanation may be that whereas the fees for clerical students at Douai were paid out of a grant from the Pontifical College in Rome, lay students had to be supported financially by their parents and friends. As previously mentioned, Randolph succeeded his father as steward to the Gerards around 1790.
John Daniel, who was to be the last president of the English College at Douai before its suppression in 1793, was a cousin of the Penswick boys' father, Thomas.

On Day 3, the families started the day with our annual "Walk of Gratitude" where each family member released a balloon in memory of their fallen hero on Main street in downtown Fort Worth. From there the families rode in another presidential motorcade to Sheriffs Posse Ranch in Weatherford where they were treated to a day of fun to include a rodeo, horse drawn carriage rides, and taught how to rope a calf! From there they headed to Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base for a special concert by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band in the VR-39 Hangar!

Monorail red leaves the Polynesian Resort, bound for the Transportation and Ticket Center. It's a rainy evening in October and the Express Monorail is the best way to travel between the Magic Kingdom and TTC.

Bilaspur is a city in Bilaspur district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, situated 111 km north of state capital, Raipur. It is the second-largest city in the state. It is the administrative headquarters of Bilaspur district.
This series expresses a deep bond I had with Lloyd Center, Portland, Oregon. The series was created as a real “labor of love”. It was a really big deal when it opened in 1960. There were searchlights illuminating the skies. A whole bunch of searchlights!
The Ice Rink at Lloyd Center became the yearly place where the annual Portland Rose Festival’s rose competition took place. I spent many hours at the center during the 1960’s as a small boy. My Mom was really interested in Ice Skating and Lloyd Center became her “go to” rink in Portland. Me and my brother Mike also skated there many times.
Then in 1970, I was employed at the Bonneville Power Administration, located two blocks away. On my lunch hours, during my 30 year carrier working at BPA, I averaged at least three days each week roaming the malls at Lloyd Center. Being the math nerd that I was (and still am), I got on my calculator and figured that I must have spent over 4,500 hours there. Hard to believe!
Lloyd Center opened in 1960. At the time, it was the largest shopping center in the Pacific Northwest and claimed to be the largest in the country. Lloyd Center was located very close to the downtown retail core and was the first major retail development to seriously challenge it, aimed almost exclusively at commuters utilizing Portland's then-growing freeway system, especially the adjacent Banfield Expressway.
The center covered 56 square blocks. There were more than 170 stores, a 300 room hotel and office facilities. Lloyd center employed about 4,000 people and had 3,500 parking spaces under cover, with an extra 4,500 open air parking spaces. 50 foot wide open air malls included pools, fountains, waterfalls and gardens.
An ice skating rink, the largest in the Pacific Northwest was open year round. There was an auditorium seating 500 people. All walkways were covered to protect shoppers from the weather. Lloyd Center was the scene of promotional and other activities designed to make for a strong community center for the entire metropolitan area.

Auto Express Driver of the Year 1991, Boreham, Essex. Competitors had to control the Ford Sierra under various degrees of skid. The car has a wheeled frame attached to it which raises the car, reducing the tyres' traction. It feels just like driving on ice.
The RPSI Trinity Express steam special ran on the 28th of August 2011. I was very unlucky with the light, as you can see, I was in sun, but a cloud came over the train at exactly the wrong moment, and the black lock was in shadow. I still like the shot because of the sky and the location, but I do wish the sun had managed to hit the loco.
The locomotive is RPSI 0-6-0 Class J15 No.186, the only mainline steam locomotive operating in Ireland at the moment.
