More infrared experiments at my local wetlands. One keeper and more issue with light leaks that seemed to intensify over time. First two frames are a development test, just to isolate if exposure or development are at fault if there is a problem. Same scene, one filtered and exposed for IR, the other as B&W. The last two frames are cropped down, representing perhaps a third of the original image. The two prior frames show the light leak and everything after that is spoiled by it. My working hypothesis was that cranking the shutter is somehow forcing the film back out of alignment but the last frame is a double exposure, half IR, half B&W. I had to remove and replace the back to do that and it made no difference.

A walk on the Moors in Derbyshire's Dark Peak with my dog took me to the Higher Shelf Stones on Bleaklow .
It was here that the Boeing B-29 Super fortress "Over Exposed" crashed in low cloud in 1948 killing all 13 crew.
In recent years the site has been partially excavated exposing the remains .

My first attempt at carving one of these very nobly gourds and I have to say it wasn't all that successful. Given the weight of them, I thought they would have much thicker walls than they actually do have. Once you carve away all the nobby bits, there isn't much left to work with. Now I have 9 more of them to figure out what I am going to do with..aarrggh

I'm not going to lie, I was throwing ideas at the wall and then I re-rolled the paper back on my 120 spoiler and threw that at the wall!

Tuesday 7 July 2015: Cayesh Base Camp (4400m) to Pampa Tullpacocha (4270m)
Cordillera Blanca Traverse day 3.
Another day of blue skies.
Breakfast then up the other side of Quebrada Cayesh for more acclimatisation, this time carrying crampon-kit (crampons, Scarpa boots, harness and helmet). Easier underfoot than yesterday, albeit with some exposed rock sections to climb across. Our path took us up the lower slopes of Nevado San Juan to 5000m, just below the Punta Villon / Maparaju glacier.
Magic views back across the valley and over to Nevados Cayesh and Chopíraju and their glaciers, and Ranrapalca to the north west. Beautiful.
A steep descent with a final bush-bash back to camp, where we were welcomed by Claus’s dog, Olly - his eye sight clearly not so good!
Soup and toasted sarnies for lunch then all the way back down the Quebrada Cayesh, across the river and turning right into Quebrada Quilcayhuanca.
Camp 3 was at Pampa Tullpacocha (4270m), a lovely riverside field edged with boulders and Quenual trees. Fab views up the valley to Tullparaju and the moraine walls of Tullpacocha, Chopíraju to the east and the sun lit slopes of Nevado San Juan to the south east.
A lazy afternoon.
Dinner. Stars. Bed.

One of the current exhibition - "Exposed - Voyeurism, Surveillance & the Camera" - at Tate Modern shows photographs taken by paparazzi, surveillance cameras, voyeuristic amateur photographers etc. of people and scenes taken, mostly, without the subjects knowledge and/or permission. Absolutely hilarious are the devices some very early photographers came up with to secretly shoot people, such as mini cameras hidden in a buttonhole or even in the heel of a shoe.
Well worth seeing if you have the chance!
